Thomas Shannon’s voice was indifferent. "Where does she want to go?"
"The maniac didn’t say, but she was adamant about leaving the manor."
This maniac is so ungrateful! The Young Master has already made so many concessions and compromises for her; what more could she possibly want? Charlie River grumbled internally.
"She’s not allowed."
Two concise words revealed Young Master Shannon’s simmering anger.
She just threw a fit, and now she wants to go out. What a spoiled brat! Threatening to run away at the slightest disagreement? She’ll have to see if I agree to it first!
"Yes, I understand, Young Master."
Charlie River, holding his mobile phone, walked out of the SPA room, gave a few instructions to the butler, and then hung up.
The butler hung up the phone and turned to Sophie Sullivan, who was sitting on the sofa, arms crossed over her chest, her indifferent expression keeping everyone at a distance.
"Maniac, the Young Master forbids you to leave the manor at will."
"Forbidden?"
Sophie Sullivan frowned; it wasn’t hard for her to guess that Thomas Shannon would most likely refuse.
She reached out her hand. "Give me the phone. I’ll ask him myself."
The butler dialed the number and handed the phone to her.
"Charlie River, have Thomas Shannon answer the phone."
Charlie River: "..."
What’s with her tone and attitude, acting like the mistress of the house? Who gave her such audacity?
"The Young Master is busy," Charlie River refused icily.
Busy? Wasn’t he busy just now? So busy, yet he still had time to refuse her request to leave. It really made one wonder if his "busy" was genuine or just an excuse.
"Charlie River, I’ll give you one minute. Decide whether or not you’re going to ask Thomas Shannon if he’ll take my call. After one minute, you’ll face the consequences."
Having been with Thomas Shannon for a while, she had learned the art of threatening people.
Despite her threatening words, Sophie Sullivan actually felt unsure. But she had to maintain her imposing facade. Even if she was scared witless inside, she couldn’t let it show.
Charlie River: "..."
He really wanted to hang up. But... the Young Master did, after all, care for her to some extent. Never mind what her so-called "consequences" were; the mere thought that the Young Master would be angry if he found out was enough to make Charlie River take this seriously.
Charlie River returned to Thomas Shannon’s side. Bending down, he said, "Young Master, the maniac is calling you. Will you take it?"
Thomas Shannon didn’t respond for a long time.
Suspecting Thomas Shannon hadn’t heard, Charlie River respectfully asked again, "Young Master, the maniac is calling you. Will you answer?"
After a long time, Thomas Shannon finally raised his arm.
Charlie River sighed in relief and passed the mobile phone to him.
Gripping the mobile phone, Thomas Shannon spoke in a low voice, "What do you want?"
Those three words were even colder than if Sophie Sullivan herself had answered a call and asked, with a hint of displeasure, "What is it?" His voice was like shards of ice, chilling her to the bone.
Sophie Sullivan took a deep breath. Why on earth did she inexplicably feel like she was in the wrong? She must be going mad! Her brain must be addled.
Clearing her throat, Sophie Sullivan put on an air of arrogance. "Thomas Shannon, why won’t you let me out?"
"Why should I let you out?"
"If you don’t let me out, are you planning to lock me up here for a lifetime?"
Like a canary, was he planning to keep her locked in this magnificent cage for a lifetime? Even Amelia Shaw had the freedom to come and go as she pleased. Why didn’t she?
Thinking this, Sophie Sullivan clearly didn’t realize she was putting herself on the same level as Amelia Shaw by comparing them.
Comparisons inevitably led to hurt feelings.
She felt Thomas Shannon was being unfair to her. Why could Amelia Shaw come and go freely, while she could not?
