The maniac almost died, but Thomas Shannon did not blame her, nor did he punish her.
Sophie Sullivan went downstairs and looked around, but she didn’t see Thomas Shannon.
She asked the servant, "Where did Thomas Shannon go?"
"I’m sorry, we don’t know the whereabouts of the Young Master either."
Not getting an answer, Sophie just nodded and went into the restaurant.
The kitchen had already prepared dinner. Since the butler didn’t require her to wait for Thomas Shannon’s return to start eating, it meant Thomas Shannon wouldn’t be coming back for dinner.
Sophie ate dinner alone and then wandered out of the castle and headed to the medical office.
The doctor saw her and frowned. "What’s wrong? Are your vocal cords uncomfortable?"
Sophie frowned, her face contorted in pain. "A little."
"Come, lie down first, and I’ll give you an examination."
The doctor’s face immediately became serious. Logically speaking, her vocal cords should be gradually recovering after the surgery, and everything was moving in a positive direction. Why would it be uncomfortable?
Five minutes later, the doctor said helplessly, "I’ve checked them, and there’s nothing wrong with your vocal cords. They have recovered very well, even exceeding my expectations."
"But I always feel uncomfortable. What is the reason for this?"
"It might be psychological."
Sophie denied it outright. "No, I’m psychologically very resilient. My vocal cords occasionally have a tearing pain, especially when I speak loudly. Why don’t you give me some medicine?"
Seeing her serious face, the doctor seemed to realize that she wouldn’t leave without the medicine. He had no choice but to turn around and prescribe some for her.
The medical office was large; the operating rooms and wards were on par with international standards. Each doctor also had their own office, so they didn’t disturb each other.
While the doctor turned and lowered his head to write the prescription, Sophie quietly went to the medicine cabinet and quickly stole a dose of medicine.
"Alright, here’s your medicine. One pill at a time, twice a day, with warm water."
The doctor wrote the prescription and the instructions together and gave her the medicine.
"Thank you, Doctor." Sophie took the medicine and prescription, and left, satisfied.
Amelia Shaw had dinner downstairs, then went back upstairs, preparing to return to her bedroom.
As she approached the staircase entrance, she heard the maniac’s angry voice, faintly drifting through an open door.
"Thomas Shannon, you just favor Amelia Shaw like this? Fine, I’ll leave then! If you love her, just go to her! I don’t care!"
Soon, the maniac, her facial color flushed crimson with anger, stormed out of the bedroom and slammed the door so hard it seemed to shake the building.
When Sophie saw Amelia Shaw standing at the staircase entrance, she glared at her fiercely. "What are you looking at? Are you happy now?"
She bumped Amelia Shaw’s shoulder and quickly ran down the stairs.
Did the maniac have a fight with Thomas Shannon? Perfect! This was her chance to take advantage of the situation. They had just quarreled, and Thomas Shannon’s mood must be terrible now. She, this gentle and understanding woman, had to perform well.
Amelia Shaw turned, went downstairs to the kitchen, brewed coffee herself, and brought it upstairs.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.
Standing at Thomas Shannon’s bedroom door, Amelia Shaw called softly, "Thomas, can I come in?"
No one answered from inside the bedroom.
She gathered her courage, twisted the door handle, quickly stepped into the bedroom, and closed the bedroom door behind her.
The sound of running water came from the bath chamber.
Was he taking a bath?
Amelia Shaw put the coffee on the tea table and sat on the sofa. She carefully smoothed her hair and patiently waited for Thomas Shannon to come out.
