Amelia Shaw endured the pain, glaring fiercely at Minimus Hart. "Sorry to disappoint you, but it definitely won’t leave a scar!"
"Miss Shaw, why are you talking like this? I’m also simply concerned about you out of good intentions..."
"Enough, I can’t bear your goodwill!"
Minimus Hart just smiled and didn’t reply.
Anyway, seeing Amelia Shaw frustrated had already made her happy. There was no need to continue kicking her while she was down.
She couldn’t crush her completely yet. Otherwise, who would contend with the maniac?
Sophie Sullivan awoke from her nap to find it was already evening.
She rubbed her forehead and sat up. Thomas Shannon’s voice was no longer beside her.
This beast! she cursed inwardly, then lifted the silk quilt and got out of bed.
The moment her sore legs touched the floor, they felt weak.
With every step, a twinge of pain shot through the core of her legs.
She had a deeper understanding of Thomas Shannon’s beastly nature.
After taking a bath, she emerged from the bath chamber in a bathrobe and sat on the sofa, meditating quietly.
How could she make Minimus Hart and Amelia Shaw fight each other...?
After treating the burn on the back of her hand, Amelia Shaw stayed in her bedroom and didn’t go downstairs.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.
The sound of knocking suddenly broke the silence.
Amelia Shaw lifted her head and looked towards the doorway. "Who is it?"
Sophie Sullivan pushed open the bedroom door without a word.
Seeing Sophie’s face, Amelia Shaw unconsciously furrowed her brow. Her tone was disdainful. "Who let you in?"
Meeting her gaze, Sophie Sullivan stepped into Amelia Shaw’s bedroom and closed the door behind her. She crossed her arms over her chest, her delicate chin slightly raised, an air of arrogance mixed with a hint of mockery about her. "I’m here to tell you something."
"What good news could you possibly bring me?"
Amelia Shaw was dismissive, extending her index finger towards the doorway. "Please leave."
"Are you sure you don’t want to hear it?"
Sophie’s lips curled into a cold smirk. "Don’t regret it later."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but I won’t regret it."
"What if it’s about you and Frank Mitchell?" Sophie Sullivan stared intently at Amelia Shaw, catching a flicker of panic on her face.
The flicker of panic was gone in an instant, and Amelia Shaw quickly regained her composure.
She chuckled softly, her voice gentle. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"That telephone call in the flower garden last time... I wasn’t the only one who heard it. So did... Minimus Hart."
Amelia Shaw’s lips thinned imperceptibly. Minimus Hart heard it too?
So, that means two people have leverage over her now? The maniac, and Minimus Hart?
She’d failed to deal with the maniac. What about Minimus Hart then? What should she do?
"Maniac, what exactly are you plotting?" Amelia Shaw also stood up. "You wouldn’t be so kind as to make a special trip just to tell me that Minimus Hart knows too, would you?"
"You’re half right."
Sophie Sullivan snorted, her eyes turning icy in an instant. "Thomas Shannon covered for you this time, but don’t get complacent. I won’t let you go!"
Hearing from the maniac that Thomas Shannon had protected her, Amelia Shaw’s heart leaped with excitement again.
It seemed her guess was correct! So, there really was a place for her in Thomas Shannon’s heart!
Sophie Sullivan saw the joyous hope light up Amelia Shaw’s face and knew it had been rekindled in her heart.
She turned and left the bedroom.
Amelia Shaw couldn’t suppress a burst of laughter. Thomas Shannon protected her! What did that mean? It meant that in Thomas Shannon’s heart, the maniac’s life or death couldn’t compare to her!
