Sophie Sullivan shook her head quietly, and Fluffy Zane understood. "She’s called Maniac. You can just call her Maniac.""Okay, Miss," the servant said with a smile. "Good evening, Maniac."
"Good evening."
Sophie Sullivan nodded with a faint smile.
"Miss, I’ll go and prepare a midnight snack for you and Maniac." After speaking, the servant turned and hurried into the kitchen.
Fluffy Zane led Sophie upstairs. "This is the guest room. The bedsheet and quilt are all new. I’ll bring you a change of clothes later."
"Thank you."
Fluffy Zane went to the cloakroom and brought two new sets of underwear and pajamas to the guest room. "These are all new. The sizes shouldn’t be too different. Use these for now. Tomorrow, I’ll have the servant buy some that fit you properly."
Sophie, looking exhausted, accepted the clothes and thanked her softly.
Fluffy Zane had many questions, but seeing how tired Sophie was, she couldn’t bear to disturb her. "You should take a bath first, then rest early."
"Okay, you too. Rest early."
Sophie was truly exhausted. She went to the bath chamber, took a bath, and lay down on the bed.
She had been running all day, and her physical strength was completely depleted. The moment her body touched the bed, she fell into a deep sleep.
Downstairs, Fluffy Zane asked the servant to keep the midnight snack warm, in case Sophie woke up hungry in the middle of the night and couldn’t find anything to eat.
"Miss, what’s wrong?" the servant asked, alarmed by her swollen, tear-filled eyes.
"It’s nothing, don’t worry." Fluffy Zane patted the servant’s shoulder. "Don’t tell my parents, okay?"
"Miss, did Young Master Guillen bully you again?" the servant asked, feeling indignant on her behalf and almost heartbroken for her.
Fluffy Zane’s eyes flickered. She subconsciously turned her head away. "No, it has nothing to do with him."
With that, she turned and left.
「...」
"Young Master, Maniac got into Fluffy Zane’s car."
Charlie River informed the man seated behind the desk.
Thomas Shannon continued to review the documents before him, seemingly paying no heed. As he remained silent, Charlie River dared not say more and stood by with his head bowed, awaiting instructions.
After an unknown amount of time, the pen signed three bold, forceful characters at the bottom of the document.
Closing the folder, Thomas Shannon put down his pen. "Where is she?"
"Young Master, Maniac is currently at the Zane residence." New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on nοvelfire.net
The Zane residence?
When did she and Fluffy Zane become close acquaintances? How come I didn’t know?
Thomas Shannon leaned heavily back in his chair, picked up a cigarette from the tabletop, placed it in the corner of his mouth, and lit it. "Who did she meet today?"
Charlie River seemed hesitant. He glanced at Thomas Shannon’s expression before saying, "Maniac met with Frank Mitchell today..."
Maniac and Frank Mitchell—two people who should be sworn enemies—had actually met. After Sophie shook off the man in black, she met Frank Mitchell, which was indeed surprising.
"Met Frank Mitchell," Thomas Shannon murmured, then scoffed. "Is she planning to team up with Frank Mitchell?"
Or does she intend to betray me like Amelia Shaw did?
"Young Master, I don’t think that’s likely. Based on Maniac’s grudge-holding nature, Frank Mitchell teamed up with Amelia Shaw multiple times to try and kill her. There’s no way she would forgive him."
"Heh," Thomas Shannon sneered. "Don’t you know she’s the type of person who would do anything to achieve her goals?"
To get her voice treated, wasn’t she willing to offer her own body?
She knows exactly what her assets are and uses them to achieve her goals, step by step.
Her voice was an asset, and so is her face.
Charlie River didn’t know what else he could say. After all, Frank Mitchell was the Young Master’s enemy.
