Something flashed through Amelia Shaw’s mind, gone in an instant.
Her breath hitched. "Was it you?"
"Samuel, what’s wrong?"
"Frank Mitchell, you orchestrated all of this, waiting for me to walk right into your trap, didn’t you?"
No wonder he was talking about us being in the same boat.
So, he had planned everything all along, including scheming against me.
When he went bankrupt, I abandoned him immediately. A man’s dignity and pride trampled like that... he couldn’t possibly bear me no ill will.
His return to the country wasn’t to win me back, not to move me with sincerity so I’d return to his side, but to... take revenge on me!
"Samuel, how could you think of me that way?" Frank Mitchell’s voice remained unhurried, as always.
It was as if she were the only one panicking, the only one falling apart.
"Frank Mitchell, don’t ever contact me again!"
A chill gripped Amelia Shaw’s heart, and she moved to hang up the telephone.
Frank Mitchell’s voice stopped her just in time. "Samuel, don’t forget what you promised me. Otherwise, Thomas Shannon will find out about this affair. The good impression you’ve made on him will be completely wiped away."
"Are you threatening me?"
"No, this is what you agreed to before."
"My agreement was on the premise that you would get that maniac killed for me!"
"Samuel, are you turning your back on me so quickly?"
Frank Mitchell chuckled. "If that’s the case, then there’s no need for me to insist. I believe Thomas Shannon will soon know that you are the mastermind behind this affair. At that time, I’ll be very interested to see how he avenges that maniac."
"Frank Mitchell, you dare—"
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
The mobile phone emitted a busy signal. Amelia Shaw panicked and immediately dialed Frank Mitchell’s number again.
Frank Mitchell rejected every call.
Amelia Shaw felt backed into a corner. She bit her arm in desperation, suppressing a low growl, "Ah..."
All the doctors gathered inside the bedroom.
They gathered around the maniac, performing an examination.
Fortunately, the maniac’s life was not in danger.
After the maniac was put on an IV drip, the doctor explained her current physical condition in detail, emphasizing that her life was not in danger.
The anxiety gripping Thomas Shannon’s heart finally eased.
He waved his hand, and the doctors bowed their heads respectfully, then left the bedroom in an orderly fashion.
He sat down at the bedside and took Sophie Sullivan’s cold hand. The woman who had just been taunting him over the telephone was now lying unconscious on the bed.
Should he be relieved that the bodyguard found her in time?
Or angry that he hadn’t assigned more men to protect her?
The worry in his heart gave way to anger.
Thomas Shannon reached out, pinched her cheek hard, and said, "Go on, keep being reckless! Did you think you could just send your bodyguards away so easily?"
Roaming around wearing a mask was one thing, but she was completely oblivious to how much trouble her half-exposed face could attract.
Even if not for money, purely for her looks, plenty of shameless degenerates driven by lust would try to lay hands on her.
After quietly staying with Sophie Sullivan inside the bedroom for a while, Thomas Shannon got up and left.
「In the study room」
Charlie River stood with a serious expression in front of the desk.
"Young Master, the person has been caught. It was a lifesaver from the swimming pool."
"Just a lifesaver? As simple as that?" Thomas Shannon lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.
Charlie River shook his head. "We found out that this man’s bank account received an overseas remittance two days ago. His family background is ordinary; this remittance is suspicious."
"What has he confessed?"
