The beeping continued, and the man stationed outside the room, one of the guards turned on his heel and rushed off, clearly following the order to assist in the defense. Meanwhile inside the room, Eric and Ella had exchanged confused glances, their brows furrowed with concern. "What’s going on?" Ella asked quietly, her voice tinged with unease. Eric looked just as perplexed, trying to make sense of the sudden chaos. But Dave, ever composed, didn’t seem at all surprised. He had already guessed what was happening. The lab was under attack. The second wave of beasts, the ones meant specifically for him, had arrived. The hybrids had been dispatched, and their job was to protect the lab from the overwhelming force of the beasts. But Dave couldn’t help but wonder how he would have faired if he was to face the onslought of the beasts.
