As Chris listened to Howard’s announcement displayed on the TV screen, his eyes widened in amazement as he learned about the various powers that had emerged. The list of abilities seemed endless – beast tamers, controllers, individuals with super strength, super speed, and super endurance. Not to talk of those with elemental abilities as well. Chris’s mind began to spin with the possibilities, and he found himself thinking of people he knew who might possess these powers. One person in particular came to mind when he thought of super strength: Dave. Chris recalled the matches at the casino, where Dave had demonstrated his incredible physical prowess. His one-hit fame, the way he had effortlessly taken down his opponents – it all made sense now. Chris’s memories of those matches replayed in his mind, and he realized that Dave’s strength had been more than just talent, but instead a power he had. But there was something else that Chris remembered about Dave, something that had nagged at him since their encounter with White. Dave had somehow managed to control the hybrids, creatures that were supposedly under White’s control via a remote device linked to the mother crystal. Chris’s brow furrowed as he thought back to that moment. White had claimed that the remote device was the key to controlling the hybrids, but Dave had taken control of them without any apparent device. Had Dave’s abilities gone beyond just super strength? Chris’s curiosity was piqued, and he wondered what other secrets Dave might be having. The inconsistencies surrounding Dave’s actions didn’t bother Chris at that moment. Even despite seeing him tame those hybrids. At that moment, his primary concern was escaping white and getting to safety which Dave had provided to him. Moreover, the image of Dave turning the hybrids against White was still etched in his memory, a testament to his strength and... other abilities. Still, he couldn’t help but wonder. Could it be that Dave could also control beasts? The hybrids, though not fully beasts, still responded to Dave’s commands, and Chris couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was more to Dave’s abilities than the eye meets. As Chris walked alongside the group of teenagers that were with him, he found himself hoping to meet with Dave for one last time, before he leave to wherever he plan on going to. The group continued on, their footsteps echoing through the quiet streets as they made their way to the designated gathering point for the executives. Moreover, as Chris’s thoughts lingered on Dave, they had inevitably drifted to Tasha as well. Since she has been the cause of the whole white incident in the first place. The memory of her actions, the way she had kidnapped Dave and the rest of his group members, while planning to use them as experiments in white’s lab. He wondered what will happen once she discovers that Dave and his group had survived and had managed to escape white’s laboratory? Would she try to finish what she started? Chris’s mind conjured up images of Tasha’s calculated demeanor, her ruthless determination, and the things she might do next. The prospect of Dave and Tasha meeting again was fraught with tension. Chris was certain that Dave would report her actions to the executives, but would that be enough to bring her to justice? The imbalance of power between Tasha and the others was stark – her position and her old age made her nearly untouchable. Not even Anthony could do whatever he wish to her. The solution to the problem, Chris assumed, lay in getting back to the base, where the collective might of the executives could potentially counter Tasha and bring her to justice. But who knows what would happen before they reached the base? Who knows if Tasha might call another crazy person like she had called white. Maybe this time she’d kidnap every one of the executives, including Gunther. Chris couldn’t help but chuckle to himself at the thought of that. But to be serious, Chris had seen enough of Tasha’s wicked acts, all of her evil agendas, the way she played people like pieces on a board. If it came down to it, he’d stand before every tribunal, every commander, and lay bare every cruel thing she’d done. He would spill out the truth, support Dave and bring her to justice for what she did. But what Chris didn’t realize was that Dave had already begun the first stage of Tasha’s punishment. For the past few days, she has been stuck inside Dave’s void space, a place where there was no sunlight, and was full of pitch darkness. She couldn’t even know what day she was, or what time it was. There was no bearing of time in the void space. But Dave had no intention of letting her rot in that endless space forever. He had something far more potent in mind. Which is why he had decided to release her. At the moment, Tasha could be seen walking down the deserted street, each step laced with venomous purpose. The morning fog coiled around her like a serpent, the mist barely parting before her fury. Her hair was a mess of snarled frustration, her jaw clenched so tightly that it looked like it was ready to snap. She wasn’t lost or dazed. No, she was marching straight toward the meeting point where all of the executives were told to gather. Her voice broke the stillness, low and feral at first, then rising into a bitter snarl. "I can’t believe it," she spat, wild eyes gleaming with indignation. "That bastard eventually let me go... after everything he did to me!" She stopped in her tracks, breath heaving, as if the rage itself fueled her lungs. "I swear, I’ll gut him. I’ll skin him alive and make him beg before I put him down like a dog!" Her hand curled into a clawed fist, shaking with anticipation. "He thinks he can come out of this clean?" she hissed. "No. Before he gets here, I’m going to tell them everything. Every damn thing he did to me!" Her eyes gleamed with wicked resolve. "They’ll believe me. I’ll tell them he kidnapped me... raped me... twisted my mind. Once they hear it, they’ll turn on him. Kick him out. And when he’s out there, in the wild... no food, no allies, no weapons..." She smiled. "...the beasts will finish him off." As Chris stood there, he felt a strange connection to the beasts, as if a hidden language had been unlocked in his mind. The growls and snarls that had once been menacing now conveyed meaning, and he understood that the beasts were conversing with him. His earlier shout, intended to warn the people inside the mall to escape, had somehow turned into the beasts’ language, and he realized that he had inadvertently ordered them to stop. The words "Stop, don’t move any closer" had tumbled out of his mind and into the beasts’ comprehension, and they had obeyed without hesitation. The beasts’ sudden stillness was a testament to Chris’s unspoken command, and he began to grasp the extent of his newfound abilities. As the realization dawned on him, Chris felt a strange sensation coursing through his body. The invisible restraints that had held him suspended in mid-air seemed to dissipate, and he felt his limbs relax, returning to their normal state. His muscles flexed, and he took a tentative step forward, surprised to find that he could move again. The beasts watched him with an unnerving intensity, their eyes fixed on him as if awaiting further instructions. Meanwhile, as Chris took a step forward, his body poised to launch into a sprint towards the nearest beast. His aim was to slay the nearest beast with his sword, since moments ago they were trying to attack the mall. Seeing them unmoving now meant he could deal with them easily. However, as he moved, he could suddenly feel an unseen force slam into him, freezing him in place once again. His muscles locked, refusing to budge, and he stared at the beasts in frustration. "What the heck is going on?!" He said, as he couldn’t understand what was happening. At that moment, he had decided to relax his mind, thinking of what he had thought the last time he had been unrestrained on his movements. His only thought at that time was that the beasts before him won’t attack, and if they won’t, he has no reason to attack them. "I think I understand what’s happening now," Chris said, a glimmer of realization dawning on his face. He tried to lunge forward again, and surprisingly, his stubbornly still body had started moving again. The invisible restraint freeing him as if it was never there before. At that moment, the pattern had became clear to Chris: whenever he thought about attacking the beasts, his body would lock up, preventing him from moving or acting. It wasn’t just about the two beast directly in front of him; the restriction applied to all of them. The moment his mind harbored a thought of harming the creatures, his body would freeze, as if bound by some unseen force. Chris’s brow furrowed in confusion, and all he could manage to say was, "Strange." With a newfound understanding of the rules governing his actions, Chris focused his thoughts on a different command. "Step away from the mall," he instructed the beasts, his mind clear of any violent intentions. "Don’t harm anyone inside."
