Chapter 27: CH 027: Tyler?Far from the bustling casino base, deep within a massive, imposing factory, a scene of power and control unfolded. The factory loomed, its large black gates standing tall like sentinels, while electric fences hummed with a low, almost ominous energy. The air inside was thick with tension, charged with the sounds of battle. At the front yard of the facility, figures could be seen engaged in combat, training for something far more dangerous than mere sparring. A group of individuals moved with a controlled intensity, their bodies brimming with elemental power. One fighter, a lean man with intensity in his eyes, launched a stream of flame from his outstretched palms, hurtling toward his opponent. His opponent, appearing to be unfazed, conjured a surge of water from the thin air, the force of the water splashing as he countered the fiery assault. Across the yard, another fighter harnessed the earth beneath his feet, raising chunks of stone and shaping them into jagged formations, while a fourth member seemed to command the very air itself, causing gusts to whip around him in a blur of wind. Their abilities collided in an explosion of elemental force, yet the focus of their struggle was not the fight itself but the figure standing on the sidelines, silently observing. A man seated on a high, black metal chair, his posture relaxed yet commanding. The clink of metal against stone signified the twelve individuals who stood behind him, the twelve zodiacs, as they were called, a collective force of loyalty and power. They were his subordinates, each one a crucial tool in the machinery that kept the base running smoothly. The man himself held a position of high respect, his mere presence commanding the attention of all those in the facility. His authority was unquestioned. As the training continued, a ripple of movement stirred in the air. A young man, his hair whipping about in a controlled cyclone of wind, landed smoothly on the ground in front of the yard. His presence caught the attention of those around him, but his focus was singular: the man at the top. The young man walked confidently towards the seated figure, his footsteps light but purposeful. As he reached the front, he bowed his head slightly, a gesture of respect for the authority before him. "Sir," the young man began, his voice steady despite the urgency behind his words. He paused, gathering his thoughts before continuing. "We’ve found the bodies of the spy team we sent to the west side of the city. They were all dead. But the two new recruits... they’re missing." The tension in the air thickened as the leader gave no immediate response. The young man went on, his words filled with concern and mystery. "There were several dead beasts around the area, and the bodies of the team showed signs of a vicious attack. But it’s the group leader’s death that’s strange, his arms were sliced clean off. It doesn’t make sense for a beast to do that, at least not any that we know." He paused for a moment, waiting for any sign of reaction from the man before him, but just as he had been sibce, the man remained quiet. "I think those two kids might have something to do with his death, perhaps they were trying to escape or something." the young man concluded, his eyes searching for some hint of acknowledgement. For a long moment, the man remained silent. His gaze was fixed on the ongoing fight, his expression unreadable. Slowly, his fingers began to move with a fluid motion, conjuring a small flame in the palm of his hand. He let it dance for a moment, flickering in the dim light, before casually changing it to a swirling ball of water. His fingers twirled, the water shifting with his movements, almost as if he were playing with the elements themselves. "No," the man finally spoke, his voice calm and measured, almost detached. "Those kids are not capable of doing such a thing." His words hung in the air like the water swirling in his palm, cool, composed, but carrying an unspoken weight. The young man seemed to hesitate for a moment, the uncertainty in his expression apparent, but he said nothing more. He dared not. At that moment, the man had stood from his seat, his expression unwavering as his fingers twitched with controlled energy. The air around him shifted, the water in his hand growing with an unnatural speed. It expanded rapidly, coiling and swirling like a living thing. His palm faced forward, and with a decisive motion, he thrust his hands out. The massive ball of water shot across the yard, its size almost daunting. It was aimed at one of the water users, a young man who had been struggling to keep up with his opponent, a wind user. The boy had fumbled with his abilities, his attacks weak and disoriented as the wind tossed him off balance. He barely had time to react as the water ball collided with him. The impact was deafening. The force of the water had slammed the boy against the far wall, knocking the breath out of him. His body hit the surface with a sickening thud, the sheer power of the water blast leaving him dazed and crumpled. The man stood still for a moment, watching the aftermath with a look of disdain. "That’s how you attack your enemy," he scoffed, his voice laced with frustration at the boy’s lack of talent. His gaze shifted then, locking onto the young man before him. The young man froze, his heart racing in his chest. He instinctively took a step back, his thoughts flashing to the possibility that he would be next. The tension in his body coiled like a spring ready to snap. But Tyler’s next words were surprisingly calm, pulling him back from his anxious thoughts. "Search everywhere for those two kids. Only them could give answers to what happened to the rest of the team," Tyler ordered, his voice cool and commanding. He turned back to his seat, his posture shifting as he settled back into the chair with an air of finality. "Find them!" he added, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Yes, Master Tyler," the young man replied shakily, his voice betraying the nervousness he felt. His hands trembled slightly as he pushed himself off the ground, using his wind ability to lift into the air. He shot a glance at Tyler before speeding off, the wind whooshing around him as he made his hasty exit. But even as he darted through the facility, his mind raced with uneasy thoughts. His eyes flicked over his shoulder every few seconds, a nagging sense of unease clawing at him. He knew Tyler’s reputation, there were whispers that he liked to catch people off guard, to strike when they least expected it. It was said that Tyler was a master at finding the perfect moment to attack, especially when his target thought they were safe. The young man’s thoughts kept drifting back to that reputation, a quiet dread settling in his stomach as he flew off towards the distance.
