Chapter 39: CH 039: Ella wants sex? (MR3)Mass Release For Wednesday! *** "Hello, are you there. Over." Dave said, awaiting a response from the other side. For a moment there was silence, and the three cold have sworn they could hear the heartbeats of each other. But then, a crackling voice came through. "Silas, Kim? Is it you guys?" The voice was breathless, but it was unmistakably Gunther’s. Kim’s face turned pale, his eyes wide with shock. His name, "Kim," hadn’t been used or known by anyone in the group, only Gunther ever called him by his full surname. It was a small detail, but it hit hard. Silas, too, had no words for a moment, but finally he managed to reply. "Yes, yes, it’s Silas and Kim. Where are you, Gunther? We thought you were dead... Those beasts, they—" "Right, I figured as much." Gunther interrupted, his voice carrying a tense edge. "But it’s a long story. Listen, I’m a bit stranded out here. I don’t know how long it’ll be before the beasts come back. Are you still on the road?" The group exchanged looks, and then Silas spoke up, determination in his voice. "Yeah, we’re still on the road, but we’ll turn around now. We’re coming right over to get you." There was a brief pause before Gunther responded, his voice full of urgency. "Okay, don’t be late. Over." With that, the transmission ended, leaving the truck silent once more. Without a word of hesitation, Kim had slammed his hand onto the wheel, turning the truck around in one swift motion. The tires screeched as the vehicle jolted back onto the road, heading toward the place where they thought they’d left Gunther behind. It felt as if Silas had something on the tip of his tongue, something he wanted to say to Dave, but he chose to hold it in. His gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, his hands gripping onto each other tightly, as he steady himself for what was to come. In his mind though, Silas couldn’t suppress the grin that tugged at the corner of his lips. ’The great Dave,’ he thought with a dark chuckle, ’The one everyone looks up to, the one they all hail like a hero, has just gotten a face slap from reality.’ He almost reveled in the thought. As they drove, his mind wandered to the others, the ones who had decided to follow Dave’s plan, who had agreed to go back to the base. Silas was already imagining how they would all start blaming Dave for letting them leave. Gunther won’t like the fact that they didn’t proceed with the expedition and had decided to go back to the base. He could already picture it, the way they’d turn on him, the way they’d start accusing him for letting them get on Gunther’s bad side. Even if anything happens during an expedition, they were to continue it no matter what. But Dave hadn’t done that, he had the guts to shun him a senior executive member and direct the others to head back to the base. Now he would see the full anger of Gunther. ’If all goes well, he might even be eliminated from the position of an executive.’ Silas smiled wider at the thought. ’It’s going to be a beautiful thing to watch.’ If anyone had been able to see Silas’s expression at that moment, they would’ve mistaken it for relief, or perhaps joy that Gunther was alive. But the truth was far darker. Silas’s smile was born of something else entirely different, an ugly satisfaction, the kind that came with seeing someone he despised face the consequences of their actions. Dave had made an enemy of him long ago, back when the fight with Ajax had first occurred. Silas had never liked him for once, especially when he was made an executive right after. He hated the way Dave carried himself, the way everyone seemed to bow to his every word. And when Silas had been asked to go on this expedition with Dave, his resentment had only grown. He wasn’t blind to the fact that Dave could sense it, but that didn’t matter. Dave’s indifference was the very thing that made Silas’s hatred burn all the more fiercely. Back in the cargo area of the truck, the sudden change in direction didn’t go unnoticed by everyone present. There was an uncomfortable silence, followed by confused glances and murmurs. No one at the back could reach the front, and so they had no choice but to wait for the truck to stop. But the curiosity was becoming unbearable. Simbi was the first to speak up, unable to contain her worry. She had been thinking about Dave ever since the initial plan to head back to the base had been suggested. She knew how much it had meant to him, how he had to convince Silas for them to return. But now the truck was heading in the opposite direction, towards the very place where they had almost been killed. Something didn’t feel right. She turned to Ella, a worried frown on her face. "What do you think’s going on up front?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. Ella, who had been quietly pondering the same question, shrugged slightly but gave Simbi a reassuring smile. "I don’t know what’s happening up there, but I’m pretty sure Dave can handle himself. You don’t have to worry, he’s a strong man." The corners of her lips twisted into a smile as she said this. Meanwhile Simbi had raised an eyebrow at Ella’s words. There was something in Ella’s tone, something... seductive about it. Simbi hadn’t missed the way her words lingered on Dave’s name. And realizing this, she just smiled, her thoughts turning inward as she watched Ella’s eyes sparkle. ’So it’s more than just a concern,’ Simbi realized. ’Ella’s got more than a passing interest in Dave.’ Although you might thought Simbi would be jealous, she doesn’t seem to be jealous at all. In fact, numerous thoughts had started clouding her mind about Ella and Dave, but she instantly cleared them off her mind. Ella, lost in her own thoughts, couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. ’Dave,’ she thought, ’I don’t know why, I just can’t stop admiring you.’ She licked her lips subconsciously, her gaze drifting toward the front of the truck as her mind wandered. At the front of the truck where Dave was seated, he had received yet another system message. He was going to dismiss it, but since he had nothing else to do, he had decided to check it out. [Ella’s affection level towards you has increased from 10 to 100%] "What?" He blurted, causing Silas and Kim to look his way, but he quickly excused himself. ’Ella has a crush on me?’ Dave realized. ’With the level of her affection, it seems she wants more than just a hug. But I didn’t even try to gain her affection or anything like that!’
