Chapter 117: CH 117: The System’s Origin (2) - (WMR5)Dave had once noticed this before. He recalled the one time the system had responded to his question, and it had seemed almost... conversational. But he had never pursued it further, unsure of what to expect. That was until now. As the system’s voice echoed in his mind, it was no longer robotic but instead it has a sultry, alluring female tone that seemed to soothe his very soul, Dave found himself instinctively asking the question that had been lingering in his mind for so long. "Who are you, or what are you?" The words tumbled out of his mind, and he waited with bated breath for a response. And then, before him, a figure began to take shape, emerging from the thin air like a specter. It was a woman, her presence both captivating and ethereal. Her skin was a pure, unblemished white, and she wore a delicate sky-blue gown that seemed to shimmer brightly in the surroundings. But it was her eyes that truly caught Dave’s attention - deep, ocean-colored eyes that seemed to draw him in, hypnotic and irresistible. Dave’s gaze was transfixed on the woman, his eyes locked onto hers as if mesmerized by her beauty. He couldn’t look away, he couldn’t tear his gaze from the being standing before him. Her beauty was almost otherworldly, and Dave felt himself becoming lost in her eyes, drowning in their depths. The world around him seemed to fade away, leaving only the woman and her piercing gaze. As Dave’s gaze remained locked on Erin’s, he suddenly heard her voice, melodious and smooth, breaking the silence. "Who am I? I’m Erin, a servant of the war goddess," she claimed, her words hanging in the air like a declaration. Her voice was like music, and Dave felt himself drawn to it. But then she continued, her words taking on a more personal tone. "And what am I? I’m a demigod, a half-god half-human, born out of a human mother, and a god father." The words spilled out of her lips like a confession, and Dave’s eyes widened in surprise. "What?" he blurted out, his mind reeling from the sudden revelation. His brain was still struggling to process the sudden appearance of the woman before him, and her words only added to the confusion. Erin seemed to notice his confusion and was about to start over with her introduction. "I said, my name is—" But Dave interrupted her, his composure slowly returning. "Erin, I get it," he said, his voice firming up. "What I don’t understand is why you’re here." His eyes locked onto hers, searching for answers. As he looked at Erin, Dave realized that the voice echoing in his mind moments ago was the same as hers. The voice of the system, which had been silent until now, seemed to have been replaced by Erin’s presence. The robotic voice was gone, and in its place was the melodic tone of the woman standing before him. "This is going to take long, but I’ll explain it to you to the best of your understanding," Erin said, her voice calm and measured, as if she had anticipated Dave’s confusion. She took a deep breath before continuing, her eyes locked onto his. "The apocalypse in your world is not just happening randomly like it was meant to be. It is caused by a certain person. And this person is a god." The words hung in the air, heavy with a deep revelation, and Dave’s eyes widened in surprise. "gods? Are they real?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Erin’s expression remained serious, her gaze unwavering. But Dave continued, "Still, I don’t quite understand, why would a god want to cause an apocalypse in our world, did we offend them or something," Dave asked, his brow furrowed in confusion. Erin’s response was direct, her words chosen carefully. "First, yes, gods are real. Second, the god that targets your world is one of our criminals, so think of him as a kind of bad god. And as for the purpose of causing an apocalypse in your world, he’s doing it solely just for fun." Dave’s face darkened, his anger simmering just below the surface. "Just for fun? People are dying, does it look like we’re having fun down here?" he snapped, his voice rising. Erin’s expression softened, her eyes filled with empathy. "I know, I understand how you feel. But you’re not the only one feeling angered by this villainous act of Exus." Her words were cut off by Dave’s interruption. "Exus? The god’s name is Exus?" Dave asked, his eyes filled with anger, at that moment, all he could think of was getting back at the man. But before he could say more, Erin suddenly dashed toward him, her movements were swift and precise. With the palm of her hand, she covered his mouth, pulling him inside of the building they were in. "You shouldn’t call his name out in the open, he’ll be able to find you," she cautioned, her voice low and urgent. She slowly removed her hand from his mouth, her eyes locked onto his, filled with warning. "He can’t hear me since I’m not actually present in this world," Erin said, her voice low and reassuring. But Dave’s expression remained puzzled, and Erin could see the confusion in his eyes. She decided to elaborate, her words flowing smoothly. "I’m not actually here, I only get to be here since I’m connected to the system given to you. What you’re seeing is a spirit form of me. Right now, I’m in the god realm," Erin revealed, her eyes locked onto Dave’s. Dave nodded slowly, his mind racing with different thoughts. For a moment, he wondered if he was imagining things, if what he was seeing was just an illusion. But somehow, he knew that this was real. "It’s good that I was able to pull you in quickly, or Exus would have caught you," Erin said, her voice filled with a sense of urgency. "There’s also a chance that he might know where we are right now, so I’ll tell you everything you need to know, since automatically, you’re a threat to him." Her words hung in the air, and Dave’s eyes narrowed. "So this person, like you said, is a god, right?" Dave asked, his voice firm. Erin nodded in response, her expression serious. "So, where is he? Where exactly is he staying?" Dave’s questions were direct, and Erin shook her head. "Honestly, I don’t know either," she replied, her voice laced with frustration. "And believe me when I say this, your world is not the only place he has caused destruction to. Your world will be the 32nd place he’ll use for his villainous agenda." Erin’s words painted a grim picture, and Dave’s eyes widened in horror. "He killed everyone in each world he caused an apocalypse in, including my own birth world as well," Erin said, a fleeting expression of sadness crossing her face before it disappeared. "We’ve been trying to track him for a long time, to at least bring him down and stop the apocalypse from occurring. But no one has been able to catch up to him. He’s very sneaky and smart. That was until we came up with the system." Erin’s words hung in the air, filled with a sense of determination and resolve. Dave could sense the weight of her words, the gravity of the situation. He knew that he was caught up in something much bigger than he had ever imagined.
