The damaged gate was a testament to the chaos that had erupted earlier, but some people had taken it upon themselves to stand guard, their silhouettes visible in the moon shining through the night As Ella and Sun headed in to take their baths for the night, the sound of running water and murmured conversations drifted through the corridors. Dave, however, had other plans before calling it a day. He made his way to the third floor, into the office that had once belonged to Kim Hyun. The room was dimly lit, the shadows cast by the faint moonlight streaming through the windows. Dave called out for Peter, his voice echoing through the empty corridors. "Peter, can you meet me up here?" he asked, his tone firm but friendly. Dave’s mind was already racing ahead to the next day’s schedule. He had a lot of places to be, and a lot of tasks to complete. First on his list was the merger faction, where he would need to discuss the details of their potential alliance. Next, he had to meet up with the executives, delivering the food and supplies they had managed to obtain even though they didn’t exactly went on an expedition. And, of course, he had to take Simbi along with him, unless she decided otherwise and chose to stay at the casino base. As he thought about the executives, Dave realized that they hadn’t been able to meet up with Eric today. A faint sense of unease crept into his mind, and he made a mental note to check in with Eric the next morning as soon as possible. According to the plan, Eric was supposed to be at the same place he had described to them, and Dave could only hope that he was still there. He knew Eric must have been worried about him, and oddly, a hint of worry had also crept into his own thoughts, but he pushed it aside, and with a deep breath, he focused on the tasks at hand. Tomorrow was going to be a very long day. Meanwhile, Peter arrived at the third floor, entering the room where Dave was seated behind a large desk. The room was dimly lit, the only sound the soft creaking of the wooden floorboards beneath his feet. Dave was engrossed in the books scattered across the table, his eyes scanning the pages with intense interest. As Peter approached, he noticed the look of concentration on Dave’s face. "Find anything interesting?" he asked, his voice low and curious. Dave looked up, a hint of excitement in his eyes. "Actually, I did," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Among the stacks of books, Dave had come across a few that caught his attention. But one book in particular had piqued his interest - a guide to the apocalypse spaceship. The book detailed everything from its location to its capabilities, and even provided instructions on how to pilot it. Dave’s eyes lit up as he flipped through the pages, his mind racing with the possibilities. This was exactly the information he had been searching for. Jackie had claimed to know nothing about the spaceship, but surprisingly he had managed to come across such a nook. Dave’s hands moved deftly through the pages, absorbing every detail. The book was a treasure trove of information, and he felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. With this knowledge, they might just have a chance to change their circumstances. The book’s significance was clear - many people would be interested in the spaceship, just like Dave and Jackie. A fleeting thought crossed Dave’s mind, wondering if others had stumbled upon the same information. If not, this book might be more valuable than he initially thought. The possibility sent a thrill through him, and he leaned back in his chair, eyes still scanning the pages. Just then, Dave’s attention shifted to Peter as he started discussing about what he had called him for. "I need a group of people to accompany me tomorrow," Dave said, his voice firm and decisive. "Can you select about fifteen people who are able-bodied and not too old?" Peter nodded, his expression serious. "Sure, no worries, I’ll work on it as soon as possible. I’ll get you the best people you could take along on your journey." Dave’s gaze lingered on Peter, ensuring he understood the importance of the task. "But that will include you, right?" Dave asked, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I’m going along with you?" Peter asked, pointing to himself and Dave had nodded in response. "Can you also arrange for someone to take charge of this place while we’re gone?" Dave said. Peter’s response was immediate. "I’ll inform Kurt and Jeff, they’ll take charge of the place. You don’t have to worry about it." Dave nodded, a sense of relief washing over him. "Alright then, I guess I’m done for the day," he said, closing the book. "You can go ahead and do your thing. We’ll set out by dawn tomorrow." Peter nodded, his face set in a determined expression, before turning and leaving the room. The sound of his footsteps echoed through the corridor, fading into the silence of the night. Now that Dave was done with his task, it was time he head on to bed. Sun and Ella would have been done in bathroom, he promised to come for them once he was done. And he plan on doing that before they sleep off. He made his way towards the room where they’ll be sleeping for the night, he saw that the light was still on, and a relieved smile had appeared on his face. Then carefully, he opened the door, but surprisingly, as he entered the room, he found out that no one was indoor. "Sun, Ella?" He called out but he heard no response. Dave’s brows had furrowed slightly as he stared imagining the worst case scenario.
