Taking a steady breath, I got up and followed him downstairs. When I reached the living room, he was slouched on the couch, head resting against the backrest, eyes closed as if trying to shut me out. Quietly, I stepped closer. From behind, I cupped his face in my hands and leaned down, pressing my lips softly against his. "Get your hands off me, Evric," he muttered, pulling away abruptly. He stood up and walked over to the dining table, sitting on one of the chairs with his back rigid. I sighed, hesitated for a moment, then followed him. Without asking, I slipped onto his lap, resting against him. "Babe," I whispered, my voice low and careful. "Why are you so angry with me? You could just turn me down without getting upset. What did I do wrong?" His gaze met mine briefly before he looked away. "You did nothing..." he said flatly. I leaned closer, refusing to give up. "Then tell me, babe. I, Evric Draeven, promise you, starting now, I’ll be more loving, more caring. I’ll give you the detailed care you deserve, because you’re mine. I’ll never let you feel neglected again." That was when his lips curved into a small smile. I chuckled softly. "Look at you. Turning twenty-six and acting like you’re ten." His eyes narrowed playfully. "I’m still two years older than you, Evric. Show some respect." I laughed, shaking my head. "Respect? I’m still your husband. You need to respect me more." That made us both laugh, the tension finally easing. After a quiet moment, he exhaled and said, "Okay... I’m sorry for shouting at you earlier." I smiled warmly. "I deserved it. So I understand." He leaned in and kissed me, gentle and forgiving. Then he whispered, "Until I’m fully healed down there... no penetration." I nodded immediately. "Okay, baby. But you know... Let’s go back to the room. You can serve me on the bed." He laughed, shaking his head. "You’re shameless, Evric. Even after all this, you still want to touch me?" I grinned. "Of course. That’s your punishment for shouting at me." He frowned a little. "But I just apologized..." I softened, leaning closer to him. "Baby, you got me scared for a minute. I thought you were getting tired of me already." His expression melted, and a small smile tugged at his lips. "There’s another conversation we have to discuss, Evric... upstairs. Before anything happens." My chest tightened at the way he said it, serious but tender. I nodded, a faint smile on my lips. "Okay, Mr. Smith." Just like that, he laced his fingers through mine, and we walked hand in hand upstairs. My heart was pounding, but it wasn’t from fear anymore, it was from anticipation. When we got upstairs, I sat on the edge of the bed and patted my lap. "Come sit on me." He hesitated for a second, then settled on me, his weight warm, his presence heavy in a way that always made my chest ache with want. I brushed my fingers against his waist. I could already tell where this was heading, but he was trying so hard not to sound demanding, not to sound insecure. "Evric," he murmured, his tone dipping into something vulnerable. "Be honest with me." I stilled, my heart tightening. "Since I met you, you’ve satisfied my desire more times than I can count. You’ve given me everything." His eyes searched mine, unwavering, almost pleading. "But tell me, Evric... have I ever satisfied your desire?" I opened my lips, but nothing came out.
