Chapter 74: A talk between Calvin and Michael In the living room. Calvin, welcomed by Uncle Joe, walked in. Upon seeing the silhouette seated by the window in a wheelchair, he paused his steps. His beautiful peach blossom eyes were filled with complexity. "Calvin," Michael was the first to turn the wheelchair around. "It’s been a long time." Still the familiar handsome face, only much thinner and paler than five years ago. Underneath his gold-rimmed glasses, black pupils were filled with a soft smile. His slender fingertips were playing with a string of lustrous beads. He looked as if he were far away from the noise of the world, graceful and peaceful. Calvin had imagined what Michael would be like when he saw him again. He might be gloomy, cold, or even decadent. But he never thought it would be like it is now. As surprised as he was, he also breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that things were better than he had anticipated. "Well," Micheal looked at Calvin, the smile on his face deepening. "Don’t recognize me?" "Micheal," Calvin took a few steps and sat on the sofa opposite Micheal, seriousness filling his slender, peach blossom-like eyes. "You shouldn’t have come back." At a time when no one was aware, his goal was to restore things to their original state. That was ultimately why he came to see Micheal. Shouldn’t have come back? Not supposed to return again?! Micheal looked down at the prayer beads in his hand, his profile unusually gentle. "Calvin, do you think so too?" Only he knew that the expression in his eyes was far from as serene as it appeared on the surface. "Five years ago, you made too big of a mistake," Calvin lounged on the sofa, his face unusually cool and solemn. "If it were someone else, they would have probably died hundreds of times already." His eyes squinted slightly as he stared at Micheal. "Even the fact that Sinclair spares your life is an act of mercy." "That’s why I have to come back." Micheal moved his wheelchair forward, pouring tea for himself with an indifferent expression. "A year ago, I caught a serious illness, the wound in my leg started to worsen significantly, and I nearly died," In the rising mist from the tea, his calm voice resonated as if discussing someone else’s affair. "Although I was saved eventually, the doctor made it clear that my time won’t surpass three years." Not more than three years? Calvin’s expression remained unchanged, but his gaze became deeper. "Having survived a brush with death, I have gained clarity on many things." Micheal handed the delicately colored tea that he brewed, over to Calvin. "I was blinded by madness five years ago, I admit my mistake." His voice lowered, his eyes hidden behind gold-rimmed glasses appeared as deep whirlpools. "This time, I came back to apologize to Sinclair and Grandpa Luther in the limited time I have left." "You know Sinclair better than I do," Calvin raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable as he stared at himself. "He won’t forgive you." "I know," Calvin curled up the corners of his mouth, revealing a warm smile. "If he won’t forgive me, let him kill me then. Since I’ve returned, I’m ready to accept whatever consequences there may be." "If that’s the case," Calvin played with the cup in his hand, eyes downcast, expression unreadable. "Why didn’t you go straight to Sinclair, but came to contact me instead?" He slowly looked up, his expression dark and uncertain as he stared at Micheal. "Do you think I’m softer and easier to talk to, so you want me to be on your side?" "Calvin, you’ve really matured a lot," The smile on Micheal’s face faltered for a moment, then resumed as usual. "But, you only got half of it right." Calvin remained silent, waiting for his continuation. On the other side, Luther’s Corporation. "President Luther," Ramsey reported in a deep voice, conveying the message he just received. Sinclair narrowed his eyes slightly, radiating a dangerous signal. "Sanchez family? " Sinclair ground the cigar in his hand into the ashtray, his eyes deep and mysterious. "From today onward, there is no Sanchez family in San Francisco." His voice was low, calm, cold and harsh. "Yes, " Ramsey’s eyes were full of understanding. "I’ll get right on it." The wife is now Luther’s reverse scale. The Sanchez family would not seize the opportunity to embrace this golden thigh, but instead always tried to oppose him. They are truly the authors of their own misfortune. "As for Tyler..." Sinclair’s forbidding ink eyes narrowed slightly. "Has he made any moves?" "Sir has not..." Ramsey looked at Sinclair and spoke truthfully. "But Mr. Tyler has been keeping watch over Miss Sandra." "As for the appetites of Sinclair and Margaret" Sinclair’s slender and fair fingers gently tapped on the table surface, his handsome and delicate face filled with indifference. "They’re quite large." Ramsey was unable to grasp the deeper meaning in Sinclair’s words, and could only directly ask. "Should I send the people we found outside the bar previously to Grandpa Porter?" This way, the conspiracy between Margaret and Tyler would be directly exposed to the Porter family. Sinclair pursed his lips, his pitch-black pupils full of cold detachment. "It’s not the time yet." -- Suburban area, a semi-old villa. Half? Calvin looked at Micheal with indifferent eyes. The depths of his eyes were obscure and profound, full of inquiry. He was curious to see what this half-correct reply was supposed to mean. "I sought you out, indeed, because you are the most compassionate and devoted amongst them," Micheal played with the beads in his hand, uttering softly with a smirk. "Once you received my call, you’d definitely come." Calvin raised his eyebrows slightly, not confirming nor denying. "But rest assured, I have never thought of making you stand by my side, plead for me," The smirk on Micheal’s mouth hinted at a trace of bitterness. "What I need your help with, is another matter." Calvin cast his glance down to the tea in the cup, saying casually, "Let’s hear it." "Tomorrow night, is Grandpa Luther’s birthday banquet," Micheal looked at Calvin earnestly. "Before that, I hope you can take me to the Luther Mansion, to meet Grandpa Luther." "You have lived in the Luther Mansion for more than ten years, you’re much more familiar with it than I am," Calvin did not agree, looking up at Micheal. "You could go by yourself." "If I go myself," Micheal tugged at the corner of his mouth, self-mockery and sorrow seeping through his gold-rimmed glasses. "I probably wouldn’t even get close to the mansion before being whisked away by Sinclair’s men." At this point, he turned to look at Calvin with a sudden seriousness. "Calvin, before I formally apologize to Grandpa Luther, even if I die, I won’t be able to rest in peace." As the sound of his words faded, Micheal braced himself with his hand on his wheelchair, his body suddenly falling onto his knees before Calvin. "For the sake of our past brotherhood, I beg you." His pale face looked utterly pathetic, a stark contrast to his earlier elegance. "There’s no need to do this," Calvin didn’t reach out to help Micheal, instead he simply got up, avoiding the direction of his kneel. His narrow, peach-blossom eyes were fixed on Micheal’s, as if trying to detect any abnormalities. But aside from remorse and begging, there was nothing to be seen. The air almost solidified. "I’ll think about it and give you an answer tonight," Calvin looked down at Micheal and spoke in a deep voice. "However, remember that I now fully stand behind Sinclair. Even if I agree with you, it’s merely to assist Sinclair in removing the thorn in his heart." His eyes narrowed slightly. "As for what he does to you, be it murder or mutilation, I will only support him, never hinder." "No matter what," Micheal hooked the corner of his mouth, giving a wry smile. "First of all, thanks." Calvin regarded Micheal with a complex expression, then turned around and walked out. When he started his car, he suddenly remembered the phone he had left behind. Sanchez family Villa "Dad, Mom," Clara descended the stairs, looking elegantly dressed and in good spirits. "I’m going out for a while." Having secured Tiffany, half of the job was already done. The suppressed anger in her heart was somewhat relieved. "At this time," Augustine noticed the joy in Clara’s eyes and frowned. "Where are you going?" He knew his daughter well. One bad thing after another, it wasn’t possible for her to get over it so quickly and act as if nothing happened. Victoria also looked at Clara with a puzzled face. "Where else can I go," Clara pulled at the corner of her mouth. "I’ll just drive around the neighborhood for a bit, clear my head." She had no intentions of telling her father and mother that she was planning to kidnap Tiffany to prevent Camilla from attending the Luther Family’s banquet. After all, they would find out tomorrow. Augustine’s face turned sour. "The matter with the Luna Family has not completely settled down yet. You should keep a low profile at this time." "Luna Family, what does it have to do with me?" Clara’s face held a cold laugh, her eyes filled with icy chill. "Apart from the people we hired ourselves and Camilla, no one knows that I am the one in the report." Even if they do. She would never admit it. Augustine wanted to say something, but Victoria had already spoken up first. "Clara’s right, our connection with the Luna Family just stops at some business interactions, nothing more," she looked at Clara, and waved her hands. "Go on, just be back early." "Understood." Clara drove away, leaving her parents behind. She did not know then, that there would be no opportunity for her to return. Inside the Sanchez’s living room, the air remained chilly. "Ever since that little bitch Camilla fell down the stairs, she’s been behaving as if she’s possessed, always acting against us," Victoria gritted her teeth. "Back then, we should have found a way to put her in the same car, so that she could’ve died together with her ungrateful parents." "I’ve told you how many times." Augustine turned his head to Victoria, his face quickly turning sinisterly dark. "We must bury this matter in our stomachs, never ever mention it again!" "I, " Victoria was taken aback by Augustine’s stern demeanor. "I just noticed, it’s only the two of us here." "It wouldn’t matter even if you’re alone," Augustine knitted his brows tightly, his eyes filled with resentment. "Don’t forget what Camilla’s current identity is, a big family like Luna’s family can disappear anytime, not to mention us." He lowered his voice. "If she ever found out about it, we can’t predict what kind of retaliation we would face." Victoria’s face turned pale, her lips pressed tightly together, unable to say another word. However, just then, "Sir, Madam," The butler, looking panicked, rushed in from outside. "Something has happened!!" Augustine’s face suddenly darkened to the extreme, gritting his teeth as he spoke. "What happened now?" "The call was from the company," The butler swallowed heavily, his expression filled with tension. "They said that the National Tax Bureau suspects us of tax evasion and has seized all of our financial records." "What?!" Augustine shot up from his seat, his voice ominously terrifying. Over the years, our company’s accounts have always been perfect, at least on the surface, there didn’t seem to be any problems. "How did they suddenly find out?" Victoria’s face was full of panic. "I’ll go to the company and check," Augustine’s countenance was so gloomy it seemed like water was about to drip from it. Just at this moment, the sound of a police siren rang out from outside the door.
