"Are you certain?" Camilla’s eyes lit up with excitement as she rose from her seat. "Did you find any leads about Carie Ann’s family?" If they could track down Carie Ann’s relatives, there might finally be a way to break the Life-Linked poisonous worm inside Sinclair. This was the best news she’d heard in a long time. "Absolutely," Luke replied, his expression solemn. "But this is a Black Mileage village," His voice lowered as he continued, "Our people can’t get inside. We’ve only managed to send in the girl’s photo, while our men are still stationed outside, waiting for news." Black Mileage? Camilla gazed at the child’s fair, beaming little face, and her heart instantly softened. No matter what the Black Mileage people were like, any family capable of raising such an adorable little one couldn’t be all that bad. She took the flower and gently ruffled Carrie Ann’s hair. "Thank you, Carrie Ann." Carrie Ann grinned even wider before skipping away happily, with Aunt Naomi following behind, smiling. Though it had only been a few days, she had grown incredibly fond of the little girl. It was just a shame that someone so young couldn’t speak. That’s why he couldn’t even be bothered to call him "boss" anymore. Camilla gave a slight nod and went over a few more details with Luke. Meanwhile, on the second floor. Sinclair stood by the window, a nearly burnt-out cigarette pinched between his slender fingers. Pale gray smoke curled slowly from his lips as he exhaled. His striking features tightened into a frown as he stared at Ramsey. "Get out." "Yes, sir." Ramsey didn’t seem the least bit surprised. Without hesitation, he gathered his laptop and headed for the door. "Mr. Luther, I’ll take my leave now." The door had barely swung open when Camilla came into view, standing at the threshold with a bouquet in hand. "Madam—" Camilla is here? Sinclair pressed the remote in his hand, activating the ventilation system. The lingering scent of smoke dissipated instantly. "Let’s go." Camilla nodded with a smile, stepping aside to let Ramsey pass. "Thank you, Madam." Ramsey gave a slight bow and hurried away. He knew from experience—this was the perfect moment to make himself scarce. If he left now, he could still make it back to the family estate in time for dinner with his father. Camilla placed the white roses into a vase, then leaned against the desk, gazing at Sinclair with a tender smile. "My sweetheart, you’re quite the charmer." Of course, she knew Ramsey meant nothing by it. She was just teasing her husband—purely for the fun of it. Sinclair reached out and effortlessly lifted Camilla onto his desk, caging her between his arms as he leaned in close. "Camilla, what was it you just said?" His dark eyes glimmered with amusement, his voice a low, husky murmur. "Something about being... big? I didn’t quite catch that." His warm breath brushed against her ear, the words laced with unmistakable suggestions. A flush instantly bloomed across Camilla’s delicate face, though she feigned innocence. "Ch-Charm... I said you have great charm." Sinclair chuckled, the sound deep and knowing. "That’s not what you called it last night." "It’s getting late," Camilla muttered, avoiding his smoldering gaze as she pressed a hand against his chest. "I should go make dinner." But his body was an immovable fortress—unyielding, no matter how she squirmed. "Let the chef handle it," Sinclair murmured, dipping his head closer. "Let’s do something more important." With those words, he captured her delicate lips—so close yet untasted—in a kiss that was both fierce and tender. Camilla clung to Sinclair’s neck, steadying herself as she surrendered to the love that seeped deep into her bones. Their heartbeats fell into sync. Only after a long moment did Sinclair finally pull away, leaving her lips slightly swollen. "Sweetheart," Camilla’s eyes shimmered with emotion, her brows arching in playful reproach. "You can’t do this next time!" And all she had done was tease him once. "Do what?" Sinclair’s dark eyes shamelessly lingered on her freshly kissed lips before he leaned in again, brushing his mouth against the corner of hers. "Like this?" His lips, still damp, trailed lower, tracing a path down to her collarbone. "Or like this?" Before long, Camilla found herself swept onto the sofa by Sinclair’s unyielding embrace. He tucked a soft pillow beneath her waist, then covered her once more in a kiss that left no room for refusal. "Sweetheart!!" Camilla glanced at the dimming sky outside and the half-drawn curtains, her face burning with a mix of embarrassment and frustration. "Be good," Sinclair murmured against her ear, his voice low and rough, each word deliberate. "One-way glass. No one can see it." The air between them grew thick with heat. Just as their souls were about to merge, a sharp knock shattered the moment.
