Blood trickled from his ear down to his neck as the man let out a bloodcurdling scream, as though his skin were being flayed and his tendons ripped out. Even more horrifying was the sight of black, venomous insect corpses occasionally spilling from those gaping jaws. Camilla’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. This was her first time witnessing the methods a poisonous teacher used to torture someone—and it was indeed terrifying. Outside the door, Jey pressed his lips tightly together, suppressing the urge to retch. This was absolutely revolting!! Half an hour later. Grandma Porter finally recalled the two-headed serpent. "But since you were the one who captured him, and your husband is a victim of the Life bound poison, I suppose it’s only fair to tell you." She paused, her aged eyes reflecting a mix of reluctance and resolve. "The original Life bound poison was stolen from our clan by him. The parasites in your husband and the person who cursed him were both bred from that source." So that was the connection. Camilla nodded slowly, her beautiful eyes darkening with unspoken thoughts. "If the original Life bound poison is destroyed, what happens to the poison inside my husband?" "It will die." As they stepped outside, they noticed the waiting car had multiplied from one to two. The rear window of the Maybach was half-lowered, perfectly framing the man’s strikingly cold profile. His features were sharp, his jawline chiseled, every contour flawlessly defined. Sinclair had come to pick her up after all? A sweet smile tugged at Camilla’s lips, her eyes lighting up with involuntary delight. Grandma Porter also noticed Sinclair—it was impossible not to, given how overwhelmingly present the man was. "So, is this your husband?" Camilla nodded. "Sinclair certainly outshines Mr. Taylor in both looks and bearing," the old woman remarked, her own lips curving at the sight of the well-matched couple. "The two of you make a perfect pair." Glancing at the other car, she turned back to Camilla. "I’ll head back to the hotel first, then. See you tomorrow." Since she hadn’t taken the pill, there was no point staying here to play third wheel when nothing would show up even if she checked now. "Alright," Camilla nodded in agreement. "I’ll send someone to pick you up at the hotel tomorrow," grandma. Porter said with a nod before walking toward another car. Sinclair had already noticed Camilla and grandma. Porter, his dark eyes flickered toward them with scattered light when they landed on Camilla. Before she could approach, he’d already opened the car door and stepped out to meet her. "Sinclair, didn’t I tell you not to come?" Camilla crashed into the man’s arms, tilting her head up with a sweet smile. "Have you been waiting long?" "Not long. Just got here," Sinclair replied, the icy chill in his eyes melting completely as he gazed at her lovely face. "I wanted to see you sooner." Camilla tightened her arms around him. They got into the car and headed back to the Luther Family estate. The moment they stepped through the door, a small figure came darting toward Camilla like a butterfly—only to be intercepted by a long, strong arm before reaching her. "Careful now. Don’t crash into her."
