Because they have one of your friends." The air shifted. The careless smirk on Kairos’ face vanished in an instant. He tore the letter open with urgency, eyes scanning every line with speed and intensity. It echoed most of what Lina had already told him—but then, in the middle, came the line that chilled his blood: "We have your friend, Darnell. You must follow the map on this letter immediately after your classes. If you fail to arrive before midnight, or involve any teachers, your friend will be killed. Instantly. And no, we won’t take the blame." Kairos’ hands clenched the letter tightly, rage boiling in his chest. His thoughts churned in turmoil. So that’s why Darnell came back wounded every night... Why didn’t he say anything? Why had Darnell hidden this? Why had he borne such torment alone? "Let’s go," Kairos’ voice came out low, cold, and dangerous. His plan was already in motion. And in his mind... the finale was going to be perfect.
