Vanished without a trace. And not just her. Fex and Lloyd had also disappeared alongside her. Their absence cast a chilling shadow across the academy. One too heavy to ignore. So, the students were left with no choice but to heal through traditional means—either using their integration abilities or the academy’s normal technological recovery systems. While efficient, they were nothing compared to Silver’s ethereal healing touch. Nothing at all. And the slowness of the process began to show. Their integration alone enough to knit flesh, stabilize blood, and repair muscle. Still, it was strange. But not the students. The students who fought on the frontlines had suffered the most. Most of them were still in the hospital, bedridden for days. When Lina arrived, she had immediately requested a room big enough for all of them to be together. Whether for emotional support or simple familiarity, she didn’t say. She just ordered it, and the nurses complied. Not all of them were severely injured like Ashen and Kaela, but still, they had to remain under observation. They all carried traces of the poison—residue from their battle with the Ravin beasts. A slow-acting toxin, the kind that didn’t kill on the spot, but brewed inside, waiting. It would take seven days before symptoms became critical. He was truly a madman, that Ravin. The sterile white surroundings felt... oppressive. Time in hospital beds didn’t move forward—it froze. It felt like prison. Kairos turned his eyes slowly toward Darnell, who was silent as always, curled up on his side in his bed at the farthest corner of the room, his back facing them. He hadn’t spoken a word in days. Not since the news about Lyza broke. Since then, Darnell had shut the world out. Shut them all out. His silence was not just quiet—it was loud. A scream without sound. Of course, they hadn’t told him the truth. They didn’t tell him Carlos was the cause of Lyza’s death. No one wanted to see the Titan released again. Others, like Kairos, struggled. He avoided Carlos at all costs, knowing full well that if they spoke—just once—it would escalate into another fight. Yet that was almost impossible. Carlos’s bed was directly opposite his. So instead of words, there were long stretches of silence. Long stretches of unblinking eye contact. Kairos often found himself wondering. Carlos was like an unopened book. Covered in dust. Mysterious. Dangerous. Sometimes, Carlos would part his lips slightly—as if ready to speak. Then he would close them again, exhale, and turn to lie on his side, back facing the world. At that moment, Kairos’s mind would drift. He had heard the rumors too. About Lloyd, Fex, and Silver vanishing together. It didn’t sit right with him. He wanted to believe they were fine. Strong enough to handle themselves. But something in his gut said otherwise. On the other side of the room, Lina and Rivet sat beside each other, glancing occasionally toward Ashen’s bed. He was still unconscious, heavily bandaged, his chest rising and falling slowly. They were talking about what to do with him. According to Rivet, Ashen’s sacrifice during the battle had redeemed some of his past crimes. Not all, but enough to be considered for leniency. Lina, after some hesitation, agreed. She said she would speak to her family—to convince them to lessen his punishment. With the Thorne family’s influence, there was hope. Maybe things would go well. Lina, however, had her eyes fixed on Rivet throughout the conversation. There was something new in the way she looked at him. She never imagined he could be this... kind. He had always been the arrogant one. A fool. The kind who picked on others because of status or name. But now? Now he sat beside her, calm and genuine. He had changed. And she couldn’t help but notice. The room remained silent for a while. Uncomfortably so. No one really wanted to talk. There was too much guilt. Too much confusion. And the sterile hospital lights didn’t help. Until— Ding! All their phones chimed at the same time. A notification. Kairos blinked, reaching slowly for his phone. He unlocked it, expecting another useless system update or an academy memo. But no. His eyes widened. He wasn’t alone. One by one, the others in the room checked their phones—and just like Kairos, their expressions shifted. Shock. Confusion. Dread.
