You didn’t know, that guy kept using his brother’s identity and the Garrison’s nurturing kindness to oppress people, and I scolded him away.” Donovan raised an eyebrow, “Oh? You’re quite impressive.” Hearing Donovan praise him, Lucas immediately puffed up with pride, “Of course, and look at where we are? Somebody tries to bully people on the Jennings’ turf without considering their own status!” Speaking, Lucas glanced at Scarlett again, seeing her listening to him with a calm expression, showing no trace of gratitude. He felt somewhat dissatisfied. Today, he stepped up to defend her, yet she didn’t even express thanks throughout the afternoon, nor did she respond when he spoke to her—truly ungrateful! No wonder Azura said he shouldn’t meddle in others’ affairs. She wasn’t worth helping. Frustrated, Lucas decided to lodge a complaint in a different way, “Uncle, Brother Donovan, did you know? Scarlett Jennings has a pretty good relationship with her foster brother from the Garrison Family. She even personally made him some kind of Jade Token!” Hearing the relationship was pretty good, Luca instinctively glanced at Scarlett. Scarlett shook her head, concise and to the point, “Not good.” Donovan just smiled, “Jade Token? Are you talking about the Amulet? I have one, too.” He spoke while drawing a red string from his collar with a touch of low-key flaunt, displaying a Jade Token engraved with runes. Seeing the red string and Jade Pendant that were so incongruous with his regal demeanor, Scarlett’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her almond eyes seemed to brighten a bit, yet her face remained as usual. Lucas didn’t expect his attempt to stir trouble would fail on the spot. Jealous of the Jade Token, he gazed longingly at Luca, “Uncle, do you also have one?” Luca pressed his lips, looking at the Jade Token on his son’s neck and then at Scarlett, his voice reserved, “I don’t have one.” Scarlett seemed a bit surprised, “You do. Just as he was about to scold him, Donovan leisurely added, “Because at that time, Father made a mistake, so I temporarily withheld the Amulet on Scarlett’s behalf.” Though he didn’t explain further, Luca could guess what the mistake was, a flash of guilt in his eyes before returning to his strict demeanor, “Since Scarlett wanted you to pass it along, even if you had an opinion, you couldn’t keep it from me. Hand it over now!” Donovan shrugged, “It’s in my room. The Jade Token was still wrapped in a Blessing Bag, untouched. Luca opened it directly in front of Scarlett, seeing it indeed was the same as Donovan’s, a flicker of joy in his eyes, yet maintained his composure, only gently rubbing it in his hands, “Did you carve this yourself? Impressive craftsmanship! I didn’t expect Scarlett to have this talent, Daddy has received it.” His Jade Token didn’t have a red string, so Luca carefully restored the item into the Blessing Bag and discreetly tucked it into his jacket pocket. Lucas watched Luca’s actions, a hint of jealousy evident in his eyes. It was unclear if he was jealous of the fondness his uncle had for Scarlett’s gift or that Scarlett only gifted the two of them, not him... On the other side. This little brat is so shameless!” Isolde, lying in bed, was equally angry, inwardly cursing her brother for being useless, allowing Scarlett to take away the bracelet. Didn’t that let that wretch have her way?! In a fit of anger, Isolde slammed her fist but forgot she was still receiving an IV. The needle instantly jabbed deeper into her flesh, causing the blood to backflow, and she couldn’t help but cry out in pain. “It hurts...” Her pained cries immediately drew everyone to her bedside, checking her hand with concern, amid the chaos, someone seemed to press on the bed frame, causing the half-raised hospital bed to suddenly collapse, throwing Isolde back onto the bed. This shouldn’t have been a big problem, yet Isolde cried of back pain. The Garrison family frantically pressed the call bell and called for doctors. After a thorough examination, it turned out she’d sprained her back as well. Emma immediately flew into a rage, berating the hospital for faulty infrastructure leading to aggravated injuries, causing quite a commotion. The irritable environment exacerbated Isolde’s already minor concussion, turning it into a severe headache, and prompted another round of dry retching. Timothy stood by, observing the chaotic scene with a sinking face, firmly deciding that Isolde couldn’t continue like this. Tomorrow, they needed to find a way for Isolde to meet Scarlett personally.
