Samuel was certain that after he had fallen unconscious, she must have encountered more trouble. He just didn’t know whether that trouble had been resolved or not. Hearing his question, Scarlett Jennings no longer hurried to leave. She sat back down on the edge of the bed and recounted everything about Azura Loomis and the system, including how the system had tried to enter his body while he was unconscious and how she had stopped it, ultimately dealing with it completely on her own. The only thing she left out was what Dashiell had said about the Heavenly Dao. She explained the earlier parts because he had risked his life shielding her from the lightning. Eventually, Donovan Jennings came by to visit and took her back with him. When Scarlett left the Chalmers Villa, she seemed somewhat distracted. Donovan asked instinctively, “What’s wrong? Still worried about him?” Scarlett shook her head. “I just feel like Samuel seems... different after waking up this time.” The Golden Light was still the same Golden Light, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what had changed. Donovan saw her thoughtful expression and suddenly teased, “Is he more handsome now?” Donovan always thought Samuel had managed to deceive his younger sister not just because he was cunning enough but also because of his looks. Scarlett might belong to the Mystical Sect, but after all, she was still an eighteen-year-old girl. And girls liked good-looking faces.
