Dashiell practically leaped out of the car the moment he saw it, grabbing the car to a stop as he jumped. “No! I can’t go any further! I’ll die if I go!” Dashiell screamed, clutching onto the vehicle with all his might. His strength was bizarrely immense. Clutching the car like this, Samuel couldn’t even get it to move. Dashiell continued trembling uncontrollably, his grip so strong that the car’s handle almost deformed under his hands. “That’s Heavenly Thunder! And it’s not just any ordinary Heavenly Thunder. She’s so powerful she doesn’t need me there! If I go near, the Heavenly Thunder might strike me down too!” After all, Heavenly Thunder could vanquish all evils in the world. Although Dashiell yearned to use Tribulation Thunder to achieve Dragon Transformation, he could still discern the type of thunder that would transform him and the type that would reduce him to ashes. Scarlett bit her lip and pulled out another Thunder Talisman. She didn’t know what was going on. But she knew that today, this bizarre Evil God System had to be eradicated. She couldn’t let it remain. An overwhelming sense of foreboding forced Scarlett to grit her teeth and muster the last of her Spiritual Power. Her Spiritual Power had already been drained substantially; from the outset, she hadn’t planned for this confrontation to drag out. The Purple Thunder Talisman had been her final trump card. But now, its effectiveness halved, she had no choice but to carry on. A metallic taste surged in her mouth. Scarlett’s face turned pale, but she forcibly swallowed it down. Once again, she summoned the Thunder Talisman. “Boom!” Another streak of Purple Thunder descended. Hot on its heels were several more Fire Thunders, and this time, one of them was streaking directly toward Scarlett. “Scarlett!” Seeing this unfold, Caius Carew and the others turned pale. Donovan Jennings, unable to hold back any longer, rushed out of the villa with Luca Jennings and several others. However, no matter how fast they were, they couldn’t outrun the Fire Thunder bearing down on Scarlett. Scarlett watched the blazing white light of the Fire Thunder fill her entire vision. The sounds around her seemed to fade away completely. She didn’t dodge. There was no time to dodge. She braced herself to take the Fire Thunder head-on. She still had the Protective Jade Talisman on her, so she believed she could withstand one Fire Thunder. But whether there’d be a second, or a third... that she couldn’t tell. These jumbled thoughts flashed through her mind in an instant. Just as Scarlett steeled herself for the strike, a sudden force yanked her backward. Caught off guard, Scarlett stumbled a step backward. Before she could react, she felt a strong, towering figure step in front of her. Before her eyes, a blazing Golden Light replaced everything else. Crack! The Fire Thunder descended, striking directly onto the person standing in front of her. Scarlett’s mind went blank, her palms burning like fire. But she couldn’t focus on her own pain. She could only stare blankly at the figure that had appeared out of nowhere. Under the radiant Golden Light, she couldn’t see his face clearly. But she knew who he was. Samuel Chalmers. Samuel Chalmers... Samuel’s body suddenly buckled, collapsing straight toward her. “Samuel!” Donovan’s horrified shout echoed, followed by the thunder of rapidly approaching footsteps. Scarlett seemed to awaken from a trance at the sound. She jerked her head around and barked sharply, “Stay back!” She caught Samuel’s unconscious form, struggling to lower him onto the grass. Her mind was in turmoil. For a moment, she didn’t know where to begin processing what had just happened. Others might have seen the Fire Thunder hit Samuel. But from Scarlett’s angle, that wasn’t how it looked at all. The Fire Thunder, carrying the power of the heavens, seemed to vanish the moment it struck Samuel, as if it had been absorbed by the Golden Light around him. She touched his face. It was warm to the touch. There was no sign whatsoever of being struck by lightning. But if he hadn’t been hit, why was he unconscious? Where had the Fire Thunder gone? Had it been neutralized? Or had it really been absorbed by Samuel’s Golden Light...? The sudden, inexplicable turn of events left Scarlett inevitably distracted. As she focused on checking Samuel’s condition, the system, which had just lost yet another portion of its energy from the Purple Thunder, began to shrink in on itself once more. Thankfully, it had previously consolidated all of Azura Loomis’s Fortune Energy and everything else she could gather into itself; otherwise, the two Purple Thunders earlier would have likely finished it off completely. Even so, its energy was now reduced by more than half. It was in desperate need of replenishment to restore its power. Soon enough, it set its sights on Samuel Chalmers, lying right before Scarlett. It could sense it—an immense and potent power residing within Samuel. That power was even greater than Fortune Energy. Regrettably, Azura had failed to utilize it before. Even with the system’s covert assistance, it hadn’t managed to extract any Fortune Energy from Samuel. But now, the situation was different. If it could bind Samuel Chalmers as its next host, all the Fortune Energy within him, along with that extraordinary power, would belong to the system. The thought ignited the system’s greed. With Samuel unconscious, this was the perfect opportunity to force a binding. Although it knew running away might be the wiser move, it couldn’t resist the temptation of such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Its resolve firmed, and with that, the crimson energy sphere lunged straight toward Samuel. Yet just as it was about to reach Samuel, Scarlett, who had been carefully checking his condition all this time, suddenly moved. Her Peach Wood Sword slashed across her palm, drawing blood. Without hesitation, she lifted her hand, the sword gleaming with deadly intent as it slashed directly toward the system. “You dare lay a finger on him?”
