Chapter 295: Portraits and Projections ( 295 )
Several years later.
"Mr. Nakagawa?"
Haruki lifted his eyes from the screen. "Yes, Chief Kajima?"
"Here’s the report you asked for."
"Ah, thank you."
Just as he reached for the document, his phone buzzed on the desk. The number flashing across the screen made his brow lift slightly.
Mr. Yamashita.
He accepted the call at once, raising the phone to his ear.
"Hello, Mr. Yamashita?"
"Oh, Haruki-kun." The voice on the other end was warm, with a hint of pride.
"Yes, Mr. Yamashita," Haruki replied politely.
"It looks like you’ve managed the Okinawa branch well. Not only that, the project in Tokyo is proceeding perfectly under your supervision. I’m impressed."
Haruki’s lips curved faintly. "I only did what was necessary, sir."
"There will be a huge meeting next week," Yamashita continued. "And I want you here in Tokyo. As usual, I’ll be counting on you to present the progress."
"Yes, Mr. Yamashita. I will attend the meeting."
"Good. I’ll be expecting you."
The call ended with a soft click. Haruki lowered the phone. A small smile lingered on his lips, pride in his work, but more than that, the knowledge that all of it was for the family waiting at home.
He set the phone down on the desk, but his eyes lingered on the wallpaper glowing softly from the screen.
It was a photo taken just last month: Haruki with his arm around his beautiful wife, Kyouko, their son standing proudly in front of them, and in Kyouko’s arms, their youngest, still a baby. A perfect picture of family, framed in sunlight.
Haruki’s lips softened into a smile.
Despite giving birth twice, despite the years passing, Kyouko remained breathtaking. Her skin smooth, her body graceful, her smile radiant.
What kind of magic does she have? he thought.
Two children, and she’s still this beautiful.
His gaze drifted toward the wide office window, where the afternoon light poured in over the city. The sky stretched open and endless, yet his thoughts returned to her, as always.
Kyouko was still delicious.
Never changing.
Never losing that quiet, elegant charm that drove him mad.
And when they were together.
Wen they shared those nights.
It was always the best for him. The tightness, the slick heat, the way her soft moans slipped out no matter how she tried to hold them back. The trembling of her beautiful body beneath him, shivering as though every thrust of his huge shaft was her first.
The memory of her wide eyes, her lips biting back cries of pleasure.
Haruki’s breath caught as he realized the heat stirring inside himself, his body already responding with a hardness pressing at his slacks.
He leaned back slightly, running a hand down his face, and let out a low chuckle.
Gotta finish this work fast, and then go home.
As for Harusawa Corporation...
How should I put it?
After I married Kyouko, Satoshi was shocked. Broken, maybe. From what I heard, he didn’t even have the will to continue the business anymore.
And so the company was left in Satomi’s hands.
But Satomi... she never truly had the mind for it. She focused too much on connections, on appearances, on chasing projects just to make herself look important. But none of it was ever handled properly.
Careless. Shallow.
That’s how the Harusawa Corporation slowly lost its strength.
And after countless failures.
Poor management, careless decisions, sloppy handling.
The company began to sink.
Slowly, but steadily.
Until the pressure finally reached the shareholders.
Even the Takahashi Group, once the biggest supporter of Harusawa Corporation, pulled out for good.
And then came the projects. Mishandled contracts, deadlines missed, budgets bleeding. Many of those projects were tied to Yamashita Corporation.
And every failure risk a stain on Yamashita’s good name.
That’s where I had to step in.
Cleaning up their mess. Fixing every broken piece to make sure Yamashita Corporation never carried the burden of someone else’s incompetence.
At first, I didn’t want any part of it.
Harusawa Corporation had nothing to do with me.
But the Takahashi Group still had their investment tied up inside. If they simply pulled out, they would’ve suffered heavy losses.
Kyouko... she asked me to step in. Not with pressure, not with demands. She only said it softly, as she always does. Because she isn’t a cruel person. She couldn’t abandon Satomi completely, even after everything.
Maybe that’s another reason why I love her.
Because even when people betray her, even when she’s hurt, she still chooses compassion.
And because Satomi was her daughter... and once, my wife before I married Kyouko... I couldn’t just turn away either.
So I tried to manage it. With the backing of the Takahashi Group, I worked to hold it together, to stop it from collapsing completely.
I never wanted to see Satomi’s face again. But I didn’t have a choice.
And Yamashita Corporation... at that time, so many of their projects had been handed to Harusawa.
So by stepping in, I wasn’t just helping Kyouko’s family. I was also doing a favor for Mr. Yamashita himself. Protecting his reputation, making sure his company name stayed untarnished.
Of course, the bonuses I earned for each project were enormous. Enough to satisfy anyone.
But money wasn’t the reason I did it.
I had to bust my ass off during those days, countless nights, endless reports, negotiations that dragged until dawn.
If it hadn’t been for Kyouko, I wouldn’t have done it at all.
She was the only reason.
Her voice. Her smile. The way she looked at me with trust in her eyes.
That was what made me endure it.
And once the projects were finally completed, the Takahashi Group managed to secure their profit and slowly pull back from Harusawa Corporation.
They got out without loss. That was enough.
As for Yamashita Corporation, we managed to protect the name.
No stain left behind. No rumor that could drag us down.
In the end, Yamashita Corporation stood stronger, securing its place as the second wealthiest, with the deepest connections across the industry.
That was enough for me.
After that, I went back to Okinawa.
And the very first thing I did...
Was ravish Kyouko the whole night.
All that exhaustion, all that frustration I carried, it poured out onto her.
She begged me not to finish inside, but I couldn’t hold back. Not when it came to her. Not when she looked so beautiful, trembling beneath me, calling my name with that sweet voice.
And that’s how our second child came to be.
