"Who...?" he murmured again. Her chest tightened. "The one who cared for you... every day. Slept here. Watched over you..." Her voice cracked. "Umm... seriously, who are you?" he asked again, eyes dazed, unfocused. Kyouko’s smile finally broke. Her lips trembled. Her voice dropped, shaking. "The girl you made pregnant...!" "Become the mother of my child?" She leaned forward slowly and pressed herself to his chest. Her arms wrapped around him, trembling. And the tears returned. "Haruki..." "I was happy..." she whispered, her voice cracking. "Really happy... that you woke up." "I prayed every day." Her voice shook harder now, breathless between sobs. "Hoping..." "Hoping you’d come back to me." "Really?" Haruki smiled, his eyes never leaving hers. That familiar teasing glint was back. Kyouko nodded, her cheeks still damp with tears. "Mm... I am." There’s a scary woman here! She’s trying to kill me!" Kyouko gasped, half-laughing. "Haruki!" He was already laughing softly. That boyish, careless laugh she hadn’t heard for long. Kyouko leaned in slowly, her hand resting on the edge of the bed. Her face just inches from his. Eyes soft. Lips parted. But just before their lips met— Haruki gently raised a finger, placing it between them. She paused, surprised. "I didn’t brush my teeth yet." Kyouko blinked. "Idiot..." Then, without waiting— She leaned in. And kissed him. Deeply. Warmly. Passionately. Her hand brushed through his hair as her lips pressed to his, not caring about anything but this moment—this proof that he was alive, awake, and hers again.
