"Disperse!!" ordered Khatu, who intentionally dispersed his dome a second earlier and burst forth courageously towards the Wind Magna, disappearing in the eyes of Hal and the others. Zephyron was caught slightly off-guard, missing the perfect timing to attack. But that was it. Khatu’s speed was manageable in the capable eyes of the Magna. Meanwhile, the fell leader’s cohort dispersed like he ordered, with Yisu even sneakily attempting to attack Hal, but was stopped mid-way by one of Zephyron’s subordinates. "I’m your opponent, Fellkin," said the middle-aged man with an apathetic expression. Like so, the skirmish resumed. Zephyron’s subordinates clashed with Khatu’s, though it became evident early on that a few of them were falling into a disadvantage, and the middle-aged man who protected Hal was one of them. Yisu was an extremely talented Fellkin, it seemed. But the middle-aged man, Cedar, wasn’t fazed and continued to fight back, waving his wand graciously, despite his worsening situation. Meanwhile, a few meters above them, the two leaders fought. Zephyron fired his invisible Wind Cutters. But to his surprise, Khatu was managing this time, dodging a majority of them while dispersing the others with either his bare hands or tearing the space they were passing through, dancing ominously in the air as he closed in. ’Spatial Sense, huh?’ thought Zephyron, remaining expressionless. It seemed that the fell leader had found a way to deal with his invisible Wind Cutters. ’Hmph, feeble attempt!’ he snorted, fully knowing that it cost a lot of mana to maintain the said spell, though it could be argued that the Fellkin had naturally higher mana affinity, and so, larger mana pools than humans had. The battle was too high-level for Hal and Ennya to fully appreciate, but at the very least, they could occasionally see Khatu’s movements whenever he had to make drastic movements to evade unseen projectiles. It was as though Khatu was being forced to dance by the Wind Magna. Nonetheless, they weren’t gaining much, and watching wouldn’t help, either, so before long, the two chose to focus on their own battles instead, firing away at the Fell Beasts once more. With fewer eyes watching, Khatu finally closed in. "Spatial Domain!!" roared the fell leader, sealing the space around him and Zephyron with a translucent, purple dome. Inside, spatial spells received a twenty-percent boost in effectiveness while those of other elements were reduced by the same percentage. "Hoh, you’re expending an awful lot of mana, Fellkin," Zephyron said with narrowed eyes. "I lost my wine cup earlier, you see, and like I said, your skull would be a worthy replacement," retorted the fell leader, hovering with confidence in front of his opponent. Inside his spatial domain, he would be at an absolute advantage. "Heh, like you’re qualified to take my head, small fry." After a short exchange, the battle resumed with a Spatial Rend from Khatu and a Wind Blast from the Wind Magna, both projectiles clashing at the center of the Spatial Domain. It seemed equal for a moment until the former narrowly edged out the latter, causing Zephyron’s eyes to momentarily widen as the Spatial Rend proceeded towards him. The remaining energy in the spatial attack was so weak that it could be swatted away with a regular Wind Cutter. However, the fact that the Wind Magna lost the exchange might’ve been a big blow to his subordinates, if not to Zephyron himself. Although none of them reflected the slightest hint of worry on their exterior. Were the Wind Magna and his subordinates feigning calmness, or was there really no need to worry about a small defeat in a small exchange? Only Zephyron and his cohort knew the truth. Khatu, on the other hand, laughed maniacally in triumph. "Hahahaha! What now, Wind Magna?" the fell leader taunted, "It seems that after today, I will have a new wine cup and a hefty reward! Die!!" With renewed confidence, the savage nature of the Fellkin bared its fangs. Khatu Kata continuously waved his arms, scratching and palming at the air, spamming Spatial Rends and Gravity Balls at Zephyron, who remained silent as he deftly waved his wind elemental wand, firing Air Cannons, Wind Slashers, and Wind Cutters in response while gliding backward. Their hands and spells were so fast that all the lower-level wizards didn’t really see what was happening clearly, including Hal and Ennya, had they still been watching. But in the eyes of the capable, such as Yisu and the middle-aged man, the results were clear as day. Zephyron was being pushed back. It took two of his spells just to destroy a single one of Khatu’s, and they were casting spells at the same rate. Soon enough, the clashing projectiles reached the Wind Magna himself, and Zephyron was forced to Blink out of the way, giving up his position. It didn’t mean anything advantage-wise. However, morale-wise... It might have had an impact on Zephyron. "Hahahaha! Keep up, Wind Magna!!!" howled the winning Khatu like a beast, continuing to spam spells at Zephyron. The fell leader’s victorious voice reverberated in the entire valley, causing the hearts of the members of the Zephyr Battalion and the wizards of the Imperial Wizard Army to sink, their blood running cold. Zephyron was losing. Naturally, the Wind Magna, who could sense the subtlest change in the wind, noticed that the situation was declining. So he decided to simply stop losing. "Fine then, consider yourself worthy, Fellkin," Zephyron spoke, spending mana to Blink out of the way after being overwhelmed yet again. He was aware of the fell race’s Kata Clan, so he more or less had an idea of who Khatu was. It was just that he wanted to gather more information from the overly excited blabbermouth first. But if he had to exchange the lives of his underlings from the Zephyr Battalion for it, then Zephyron was unwilling. In the next moment, the crest of a four-winged hawk subtly lit up at the back of his hand. The Wind Magna then slashed his wand in the air, sending a bright-green Wind Cutter, far faster than anything Khatu had ever seen before, tearing through the air. It ripped apart every Spatial Rend and Gravity Ball in its path, finally passing through the body of their caster. "Im...possible..." The next moment, the fell leader’s body split vertically into two, viscous purple blood raining as each nauseating half fell to the ground. Khatu of the Kata Clan, who thought he was winning, had been defeated with a single spell.
