Chapter 191: Redwood Skirmish (2)

Two almost simultaneous and one slightly delayed explosion occurred, all resulting in violent noises and gray smoke. It was the Steel Golem that took everything, collapsing on its metallic bottom after taking everything for the team. To the Fellkin Warriors’ disbelief, the conjured creature hadn’t dissipated back to mana yet and was even struggling to stand back up, despite its steel limbs and chest being bent by the void blast rather horrendously and moderately torn apart by the Thunder Spears. It lived up to its tough and daunting name. Meanwhile, Ennya and the platoon members—both those in the fray and those rushing to join—were dumbfounded at the sudden emergence of the three big, bad boys. The Fire Elementals looked extremely menacing while the Steel Golem, despite looking extremely battered, was a freaking Steel Golem. The fact that it survived three such spells was an awe-inspiring feat. Nonetheless, it didn’t seem like it would be able to help much more than that, as it can barely move. It could remain stationary and act as a steel shield for Ennya and the platoon members to take cover behind at most. Hal, on the other hand, didn’t need to hide like them, as he had a decent variety of spells he could use to escape death. The Fellkin would have to catch him in a cunning trap before they could take his life. Unfortunately, the veterans of the fell race weren’t like the platoon members, as they barely stopped for a moment before continuing to attack. They wouldn’t be too dumbfounded by spells cast by a mere human. The idea of even being in disbelief at a human’s competence in combat sounded embarrassing to them on a biological level. "Everyone, quick! Help the Magna Prospects!!" exclaimed one of the Fire Platoon members, aiming her wand at the fell warriors to aid Hal and Ennya in what little way she could. Meanwhile, the Fire Elementals stabbed their long, flaming, seemingly ethereal limbs to the ground, sinking them quite deep and summoning two Flame Tornadoes that forced two Fellkin Warriors to stop casting their spells. Hal then shot his high-level [Common]-tier spells while circling to the side and separating from the group a bit, hoping to take the Fellkin Warriors’ attention. If he could get at least one to focus on him, Ennya and the others would have an easier time. The bastards were strong. However, they were, at most, as powerful as Arran and Khan’s subordinates. The battle was winnable. Hal had slain a Fellkin of such caliber before, though a huge part of it was because he was being severely underestimated, unlike now. While he had way more [Rare]-tier spells than he did back then, having only two charges of [Gravity Ball] to his name, most of them were only just as powerful, if not a bit weaker, than the spatial spell he used to kill Amirra. It would still be a difficult battle, but not as uphill as it had been in the past. He could bail himself out of a mistake or two. Probably... [Glacial Shards], [Fireballs], [Wind Cutters], [Rock Bullets], [Glow Needles], [Aqua Serpents], and even a few reliable and extremely lethal [Uncommon]-tier spells like [Piercing Light] and [Lightning Wave] tore through the air, bombarding the fell warriors. They weren’t as strong as Ennya’s spells, but they couldn’t be ignored, either. A single clean hit could still be lethal. Beran and his fell comrades tried their best not to, but unfortunately, it was simply way too hard not to be in shock and disbelief at a human firing spells one after another as though he were an agile spell turret. Even they, who had faster cast times compared to humans by default, couldn’t compare. They now realized why this Hal Fennec was suddenly added and occupied a rather high position in their race’s hit list for up-and-coming human youngsters. "Arukha, Bor, eliminate that bastard as quickly as you can, we’ll handle Ennya Kasai and the turds!" said Beran. The Fellkin Warriors named Arukha and Bor were displeased at being ordered as though they were underlings. However, this wasn’t the time to engage in petty power dynamic arguments, as their lives were also at risk. If Zephyron Windrunner somehow detected them and took action himself, they’re done for. Aside from the Wind Magna, there were also a few mighty individuals in the human camp whom they wouldn’t be able to defeat in a duel, or maybe even in a one versus two. Arukha and Bor knew they had to finish things as quickly as they could to reduce the risk. Of course, there shouldn’t be any quick responses, and they could take their time a bit, but not too much. It would be too risky otherwise. Shifting their attention to the young man splitting from his group, Arukha and Bor dashed at him, closing the gap at an alarming rate, despite running in a zigzag pattern to dodge the spells. ’That’s right, come at me...I’ll take you two on...’ Hal willed one Fire Elemental to come help him. Its fiery body, which seemed to be a long, flaming torso, slid across the ground. It wasn’t as fast as the Fellkin, but it was fast enough to help him. The Fire Elemental waved its long limbs, generating and willing fireballs to fly towards the two Fellkin. They were weaker than even Hal’s; however, like other spells, they couldn’t be totally ignored. Bor knew that one of them had to stop and deal with the annoying spirit, so he skidded to a halt and nimbly turned to rush at the Fire Elemental instead. Meanwhile, Arukha continued sprinting at Hal, thunder crackling in his fists. ’Heh, I guess the thunder element is the most common element these idiots wield, huh?’ Hal inwardly sneered. He wasn’t threatened in the slightest. In fact, he kind of wanted to try and beat them at their own game... ’Time to try that new combat style I’ve thought about, then...Let’s dance, Fellkin!’
