Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Must Seek Revenge
"You silly boy, why did you throw yourself in harm’s way like that? Weren’t you scared of losing your life?" Yang Chuxia looked speechlessly at Ye Zi’an, feeling extremely grateful but also very shocked. Was this kid too kind-hearted? They weren’t close enough for him to risk his life for them.
Ye Zi’an laughed awkwardly upon hearing this, "I, I didn’t think too much about it. Anyway, I’m glad you’re okay."
"Brother An, thank you so much for saving Xiaxia," Yang Dachuan stepped forward to express his gratitude. "You are our savior by saving Xiaxia. If you ever need anything in the future, I’ll stand by you till the end."
"Third Uncle Yang, you’ve saved me too," Ye Zi’an suppressed his laughter and replied calmly.
"No, back then, all I did was help you find someone. I didn’t actually do anything for you. But today, by saving Xiaxia, you’ve saved my wife and me too. Thank you so much!" Yang Dachuan was so moved that he was about to kneel before Ye Zi’an.
"Third Uncle Yang, please don’t do that!" Seeing Yang Dachuan’s action, Ye Zi’an became anxious and tried to get up, only to wince at his wound’s pain.
"Alright, alright." Uncle Cai couldn’t bear to watch and stepped forward to stop Yang Dachuan. "My brother, don’t scare the young lad. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to thank him in the future."
Yang Dachuan’s face flushed with embarrassment, and he nodded repeatedly.
"Alright, since Brother An is in good hands here, I’ll head back to the village with Dayong. I need to have a word with Land Officer Yang. The Yang Family has gone too far this time, being so unfeeling towards a child."
Yang Dayong, Land Officer Yang’s youngest son, had been driving an ox-cart and was waiting outside the clinic.
Upon hearing this, Yang Chuxia glanced at Ye Zi’an and said to Yang Dachuan, "Dad, you stay here with Brother An while I go back to the village with Uncle Cai. Mom must be really worried at home."
The main reason was that she wanted to settle scores with someone. The vengeance for Brother An must be avenged, and she couldn’t wait any longer. Plus, she needed to monitor the yamen officers’ actions when they came to the village to gather evidence. She didn’t know that the two constables in the town were quite capable, and they had their own ways of gathering evidence without disturbing the villagers.
"Alright, I’ll stay here and take care of things," Yang Dachuan agreed without hesitation.
Yang Chuxia then looked at Ye Zi’an, and he smiled back at her, "I’m fine. You go ahead."
"Alright, you take care of yourself, and I’ll come to see you tomorrow."
After leaving some money with Yang Dachuan and giving some instructions, Yang Chuxia and Uncle Cai left.
On the way back, Yang Dayong was driving the ox-cart at high speed because he knew Yang Chuxia was anxious. The whip cracked against the ox’s back constantly. Under normal circumstances, Yang Chuxia might have stopped him, but she was too preoccupied now.
When she arrived at the Yang Family’s residence, Land Officer Yang and others still hadn’t dispersed. There were murmurs coming from the principal wife’s room.
Seeing Yang Chuxia and the others entering the courtyard, Land Officer Yang approached them first, asking, "How is it? How’s An, the boy?"
"Hmph, he’s a busybody. He deserves to die!" Before Yang Chuxia could speak, an annoying voice sounded.
Looking over, Yang Chuxia saw that it was Yang Xiaochuan talking.
Since lunchtime, Yang Chuxia had been suppressing her anger. She hadn’t had a chance to vent it before, but now that Yang Xiaochuan was speaking like this, her already nearly explosive fury grew even more intense.
She aimed a swift kick at Yang Xiaochuan.
"An may die, but YOU will never die." She continued kicking him several times, saying, "I haven’t settled the score with you for what happened today, and yet you dare to provoke me!"
