Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Showing Off Power
After speaking, Yang Chuxia arrogantly walked over to the next stall, where the crabs were noticeably larger than the ones she had just asked about.
"Big brother, how much are these crabs?" The stall owner was a young couple with friendlier-looking faces than the pair next to them.
Seeing Yang Chuxia come over and ask about his crabs, the man smiled and said, "Young miss, these crabs are a bit bigger, so they’re fifteen coins each."
Fifteen coins? Yang Chuxia cursed inwardly. This damn thing costs more than a jin of rice! But then she thought about the modern price for crabs, which could easily reach hundreds per crab, and she felt relieved. The fishing level here simply couldn’t compare to modern times. To be honest, the price now was relatively cheap.
Yang Chuxia smiled and said, "Big brother, how many crabs do you have in this basket? I’ll take them all."
"Huh?" The crab-selling brother opened his mouth wide in surprise, but his quick-witted wife chimed in with a smile, "Young miss, there are more than fifty crabs in this basket."
Yang Chuxia nodded, "That’s fine, I’ll take them all. Can you sell me this wooden bucket too? I’ll give you an extra ten coins, how does that sound?"
Crab-salesman brother glanced at Yang Dachuan and Yang Qingtong behind Yang Chuxia, who were carrying only one basket. After considering it for a moment, he agreed.
"Put some seawater in there for me, so they won’t all die by the time I get it back."
"Alright then!"
Crabs-salesman brother counted the crabs in the basket into a nearby bucket, totalling fifty-two. He then said, ’I won’t charge you for the extra two, consider them a gift.’
So after handing over the 760 coins, Yang Chuxia turned back to the crab-selling couple she’d dealt with before and sarcastically said, "Auntie, did you see clearly how boldly I just bought those crabs?"
This series of actions had already left the middle-aged crab-selling couple with much regret. Now hearing Yang Chuxia’s words, their faces quickly turned a deep purple.
Yang Chuxia snorted coldly and reached for the bucket of crabs to leave.
"Little girl, let your father carry it."
Yang Dachuan handed the basket to Yang Qingtong and effortlessly lifted the bucket of crabs.
After strutting around the seafood market, Yang Chuxia realized it was getting late and didn’t linger any longer in town. She bought some pork, ribs, and chicken that they didn’t have at home, as well as some vegetables like potatoes and onions. When they passed a pastry shop, she also bought some malt sugar. After buying a good amount of items, the three of them hurried to catch a ride back to Yangshu Village.
By the time they returned to Yangshu Village, Ms. Wang had already steamed the cornbread. Seeing the three of them come in, she let out a sigh of relief, "You’re finally back, other families are already cooking their lunch."
"Mom, don’t worry, I’ll go out for a moment and come back to help you." Yang Chuxia put down her things and said to Yang Dachuan, "Dad, you go to Grandpa’s house first, as well as Clan Elder Grandpa’s house, to let them know so they don’t eat at their own homes."
"Alright, I’m heading out now."
Yang Dachuan put down his things and went outside to call people.
Yang Chuxia picked up a wooden fork from near the stove and hurried out of the house with the bucket of crabs. She walked and ran until she reached the small river nearby.
