Chapter 333: Chapter 334: Bad Guys Attack
Yang Xiaochuan, being a man, still cared about his reputation, after all, and this situation was really embarrassing to talk about.
Since Yang Xiaochuan disagreed with Ms. Luo attending, she had no choice but to endure the situation. Seeing the food in the box, Ms. Luo had no appetite at all, so she washed up and went to sleep without eating anything all night.
Meanwhile, Yang Chuxia and Ye Zi’an burst out laughing when they left the old house.
When they returned home, Old Yang noticed that there was no food box in Chuxia’s hand but didn’t say anything and continued to eat and drink with the group.
Ms. Wang thought Chuxia had thrown away the food on her way back. When she heard Yang Chuxia’s explanation, she didn’t know what to say.
The wife of the Land Officer accidentally overheard the story and laughed out loud.
Since the next day was the official banquet, Yang Chuxia woke up very early, just like the day before.
Land Officer’s wife, Old Aunt-in-law Gen, and Aunt Caixia came over to help with washing vegetables early in the morning. The men in the family also came over to help carry tables and chairs from other houses.
The village didn’t have enough tables and chairs for the banquet, so Yang Dachuan had already asked several families in the village to lend their furniture. Naturally, the villagers all agreed.
Thus, Uncle Old Gen and other men went from house to house carrying tables and chairs early in the morning.
When the furniture was transported back, some of it was directly set up outside, as there was not enough space in the house and courtyard. However, it was no problem being outside; they had set up canopies using large oil-paper umbrellas.
In Wangquan Town, the countryside, banquets typically began around noon. By the time the tables and chairs were set up, many dishes were already cooked in the kitchen.
About an hour and a half later, the villagers who were coming to the banquet began to arrive one after another.
Although the entire village was invited to the banquet, not everyone came. Most families sent a representative, and only a few people came to help or brought more family members with them.
Once everyone was seated, they started to serve the dishes one by one. All the servers were young men, some from their own family and others from the village.
The banquet lasted for almost an hour and a half before it finally ended.
There were always one or two heavy drinkers at these banquets who couldn’t stop drinking. Even when they were the last few people left, they would still continue to drink until they had their fill.
When the two men finally finished eating and drinking, Ms. Wang and others cleaned up the tableware.
Tieshu and Fugui then drove the ox-cart to deliver the bowls and chopsticks to the town. These items were rented, as no one’s household had that many bowls and chopsticks.
The evening meal was much simpler. Some villagers who came to help felt there was nothing more to do, so they went home. Those who stayed were those with closer relationships with Yang Chuxia’s family, and they all ate and drank together once again.
They chatted casually, and before they knew it, it was getting late. Everyone went home and Yang Chuxia’s family cleaned up and went to bed to rest.
Due to the busyness of the past two days, everyone was quite tired. As a result, they all slept heavily at night, which was also the time when troublemakers often chose to strike.
At midnight
There were several dark figures squatting on the wall of Yang Chuxia’s courtyard. They exchanged glances and nodded before jumping down the wall with weapons in their hands.
Just as they jumped down the wall, Yang Chuxia had already opened her eyes in the house. She quickly grabbed her sleeve arrow from beside the pillow and the small crossbow from under the bed. She also put the arrow quiver on herself.
