Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Cleaning up One by One
Upon hearing about the corn cakes, Ye Zi’an chuckled and happily accepted them. Seeing his beaming smile, Yang Chuxia couldn’t help but feel doubtful. Was Qingrui making things up? She found it hard to imagine this seemingly foolish boy being aloof in his daily life.
"Thank you!"
"I’ve never met anyone like you who refuses silver but wants corn cakes," Yang Chuxia mumbled.
Ye Zi’an didn’t say anything upon hearing her words, just kept smiling.
"Alright, you should head back now. Be careful tonight and watch out for Ms.Hua Junior causing you trouble."
Yang Chuxia reminded him before waving her hand, signaling Ye Zi’an to leave.
It felt like a big shot speaking to a subordinate, telling them to kneel and leave.
"Okay, I’ll be careful." Ye Zi’an replied, but he remained rooted to the spot.
"Why aren’t you leaving? What are you staring at?" Yang Chuxia looked at him, frowning.
"You go first," Ye Zi’an said with a faint smile.
Yang Chuxia was stunned momentarily and then waved her hand impatiently, "Stop dawdling, you go first!" She glared intensely at Ye Zi’an, forcing him to leave first.
She didn’t find him annoying but was concerned about his leg problem. The darker it got, the harder it would be for him to walk, right? Additionally, there was the potential danger of Ms. Hua Junior. It felt safer for him to get home sooner.
Thinking about how far away he lived, Yang Chuxia worried that if anything happened, he might not be able to find anyone to help.
Watching the lanky but slender figure of the boy, Yang Chuxia’s eyebrows furrowed into a frown. Every time she saw Ye Zi’an, she was reminded of her father’s weak arm and she felt even more disgusted with Old Lady Hua. Hmph, absolutely can’t let Old Lady Hua off so easily. If her father didn’t care, she couldn’t be indifferent either.
As for the intruder, she had to drive her out. Old Lady Hua had to be stripped layer by layer, dealing with her little burdens one by one, driving her mad in the process.
She made up her mind to start with Yang Da’an’s family, then Yang Xiao’an’s family, and Yang Xiaochuan’s family, saving Old Lady Hua for last. She refused to believe that she couldn’t handle such an old, devout woman. However, before she could take action, Yang Xiao’an came knocking; but that’s another story.
Yang Chuxia nodded to herself and looked ahead. Ye Zi’an had already disappeared from sight, so she hurried home.
As soon as Yang Chuxia vanished, Ye Zi’an suddenly emerged from a corner, staring blankly at her departing figure for a while before heading home.
When Yang Chuxia returned to the Yang Family, they had yet to eat dinner. The family was gathered around the table, staring at the silver ingot left on it. As Yang Chuxia walked in, Yang Dachuan and Ms. Wang hurriedly turned their gazes towards her.
"Xiaxia, is it true? Did you really catch a big fish?" While Yang Chuxia was away, Yang Qingrui had relayed the story once, but because the amount of silver was quite large, Ms. Wang had a hard time believing it.
As soon as Yang Chuxia came back, Ms. Wang couldn’t help but ask for confirmation.
"Yeah, we saw it this morning. Brother An works at a restaurant, so I asked him to sell it there." Yang Chuxia then took out the other silver ingot from her sleeve and placed it on the table. "Originally, as we both saw the fish, I intended to share the money with Brother An, but he absolutely refused."
