Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The Silver from Selling Fish
Now Yang Dachuan felt awkward, he really hadn’t expected this.
Ms. Wang walked in with meals, seeing the two boys, she grouched, "Your father is working so hard, but instead of letting him rest first, you’re asking for candy? Are you asking for trouble?"
Yang Qingrui touched his nose and said with a wry smile, "Mom, I was just joking with dad. He only thinks about my sister."
"You little brat, you’re challenging me for favoritism now?" Yang Chuxia wanted to pinch his face when she saw his cunning smile.
Just then, a few shouts came from the main gate of the Yang Family, "Is Third Uncle Yang home?"
Upon hearing the voice, Yang Chuxia knew it was Ye Zi’an returning from town.
Yang Dachuan, who was also familiar with the voice, hurriedly got up to greet him, "Brother An, what brings you here?"
"Dad, let Brother An come in for a chat." Yang Chuxia followed behind Yang Dachuan.
Ye Zi’an didn’t initially intend to come in, but remembering the silver in his arms, he followed them in.
Seeing Ye Zi’an coming in, Ms. Wang and others greeted him cheerfully, "Brother An, come in and sit."
"Aunt Yang!" Ye Zi’an responded with a gentle smile, "I won’t sit. I’m here to bring something for Xiaxia." Saying that, he pulled out two silver pieces from around his waist. He added, "The big fish, our shopkeeper was delighted and offered thirty-five Wen per jin, the total was fifty-five jin, the extra money was added by the shopkeeper."
"So much?" Seeing the two pieces of silver, Yang Chuxia was overjoyed, she immediately picked up one piece and handed it to Ye Zi’an, "Here’s yours, share the fortune!"
"I can’t accept this!" Ye Zi’an rejected it as if it was a hot potato, hurriedly placing the silver back on the table, then put a paper packet from his hand on the table, "This is for you, thanks for speaking up for me and the land officer at noon."
Having said that, Ye Zi’an strode out without looking back.
Ms. Wang hurriedly called out, "Brother An, have a meal before you go."
However, Ye Zi’an’s refusal came from a distance, "No need."
Yang Dachuan stared blankly at the silver on the table, "Xiaxia, what’s happening?"
Yang Chuxia didn’t reply to Yang Dachuan’s question immediately, but picked up a piece of silver from the table, turned around, grabbed two corn cakes, and ran out of the house.
"Brother An, wait a moment!"
Ye Zi’an, seemingly afraid that Yang Chuxia would re-offer him the silver, didn’t turn around at the sound of her voice, but hobbled away rapidly.
However, she didn’t have to go far before Yang Chuxia caught up with him.
"Why are you running so fast? Didn’t you hear me asking you to wait?" Yang Chuxia glared at him, a little agitated.
A touch of discomfort flashed across Ye Zi’an’s handsome face. He mumbled, "Xiaxia, I don’t need the silver. Qingtong, not me, found the fish. I just sold it for you. Besides, you helped me speak up at noon, or else I wouldn’t have received the land my father left me."
"Are you sure you don’t want it?" Yang Chuxia scrutinized him.
"I don’t!" Ye Zi’an shook his head without hesitation.
"This is a whole silver piece!" Yang Chuxia replied. She wanted to say that it could feed him for a few months.
To her surprise, Ye Zi’an said, "I get eight hundred Wen as my monthly allowance now."
Damn, Yang Chuxia mumbled, does this mean he’s looking down on this silver piece? Fine, if you look down on it, I won’t give it to you.
"Here, you take this, my mother made corn cakes. It will save you the trouble of cooking when you go back."
