Chapter 262: 241: Are you so sure that I’m the only one who fell for you?
At Shengshi Yunding far away, Wen Renche, upon learning that Shi Wei was coming, put aside everything he was doing.
He stood in the second-floor corridor, his gaze fixed intently on the tightly closed door. Beneath the golden-rimmed glasses, his phoenix-like eyes revealed a trace of a sinister smile.
The winter night descended quickly.
The hazy night seemed like a thin veil, enshrouding the peach trees at the entrance of the Wen Family’s residence, scattering the moonlight tenderly across the ground.
Wen Renche sat on the living room sofa, his expression focused as he stared at the chat box on his phone screen.
He appeared not to hear the sound of a car horn coming from outside, typing away on the keyboard unfazed, his head never lifting even once.
Before long, a shadow loomed over him, blocking the light from the ceiling lamp overhead.
"Mr. Shi, is there something you need?" Wen Renche subtly leaned forward with the phone in his hand.
Conveniently, it allowed the other party to clearly see the conversation history and the particular nickname displayed.
Shi Wei’s gaze was disdainful, yet he clenched his molars with irritation, suppressing the restlessness in his chest.
He unceremoniously sat beside him, his gaze lazily wandering over the room’s decor: "I didn’t expect Mr. Wen to have such a taste for women’s clothing."
Wen Renche was exceedingly shrewd; it took him only an instant to grasp what the man was aiming to imply.
He chuckled lightly, his long lashes delicately brushing the teardrop mole at the corner of his eye: "Ah-Shi’s designs, of course, deserve to be purchased and treasured."
Shi Wei’s smile was cold and stiff, his tone tinged with a faint smugness: "Zhizhi and I are getting married. You won’t need to bother with such pointless actions anymore."
"Getting married?"
"Yes. Would Mr. Wen be gracious enough to attend?"
As soon as those words fell, Wen Renche pressed his phone screen off.
He said nothing, resting one hand on the back of the sofa, gazing toward the television as if lost in thought.
Shi Wei wasn’t in a rush; after all, his goal had already been achieved.
No matter what position this man held in the young woman’s heart, what role he played—it couldn’t change the reality of him and her sharing a wedding.
"You don’t love her," Wen Renche broke the silence, his opening remark asserting what he deemed a fact.
He turned his head, the emotions in his eyes indistinguishable: "Otherwise, you wouldn’t be so desperate to tie her down."
Although he didn’t know what method the man had used to get Ah-Shi to agree to this marriage,
he absolutely wouldn’t stand idly by and watch as the woman he loved to his very soul became someone else’s wife.
Shi Wei sneered, showing no intention of explaining himself: "Little Zhi is outstanding; it’s only natural to have feelings for her."
He calmly met those phoenix-like eyes: "But the person most suitable for her is me."
Seeing the other man speak so bluntly, Wen Renche no longer felt the need to conceal his emotions.
A tantalizing curve played on his lips: "Are you so certain I’m the only one who’s fallen for her?"
The air froze for a moment.
Their gazes seemed to spark, igniting flames of growing intensity, as if they’d devour each other on the spot.
Just as the atmosphere became sharp and oppressive, Shi Wei suddenly let out a low laugh, his voice lined with sarcasm: "I didn’t expect Mr. Wen to suffer from delusions."
"Mr. Shi is truly remarkable. Perhaps even the most advanced instruments in this world couldn’t rival your eyes in diagnosing others’ conditions so easily."
Wen Renche raised his brows devilishly but didn’t wait for Shi Wei to launch another verbal counterattack. Instead, he stood up: "Care for a tour upstairs?"
