Yu Zhi’s eyes lingered for a few seconds on the woman who hadn’t emitted a single cry of pain throughout. As she bent her knee in hesitation, her hand brushed against the gun holstered at her waist. "Little Zhi, what are you doing?!" Ruan Yuan’s eyes widened, her sockets reddening instantaneously. She struggled with all her might, the ropes behind the chair scraping her hands raw: "If you kneel, Ruan Yuan will have no friend like you ever again!" The woman’s choked protest filled K with immense pleasure. He straightened his back, quietly waiting for the girl before him to gradually kneel with both legs, already imagining how she’d crawl obediently like a dog to beg at his feet. K grimaced and suppressed the pain, raising his fist for another move. But before his attack could connect, his knee was abruptly struck, forcing both legs to buckle to the ground with an audible crack of broken bone. Yu Zhi gripped the hilt of her knife, driving its sharp tip into the joint of K’s wrist. With a single thrust, the blade pierced through his wrist. "Ah!!" K shrieked in agony as he crumbled on the floor. His entire body felt shattered; he couldn’t decide which injury to tend to first, breathing heavily as he stared at the ceiling. The metallic scent of blood permeated Yu Zhi’s senses. Her hand trembled on the knife hilt, her eyes suddenly filling with a feral red glow. She swallowed hard, fighting against the violent impulses roiling within her, but the blood scent stirred her irrationality further, clouding her mind. "Zhizhi," Shi Wei noticed her unusual state and immediately wrapped his arms around her waist. He smoothed her hair gently, his expression heavy yet his voice soft: "It’s okay, it’s over." The man’s familiar presence surrounded Yu Zhi, and she closed her eyes, clutching his clothing tightly as she took deep breaths to calm herself. But the blood scent still lingered, the darkness pressing relentlessly on her emotions: "Shi Wei, let me go outside for now." Yu Zhi pushed against the man’s shoulder, her lips pressed into a tight line as she pointed at the still-bound woman. Her voice cracked: "Untie her." Leaving these words behind, she hurried down the stairs, her movements quick. She didn’t even bother retrieving the backpack she’d left on the floor. Shi Wei silently watched her disappearing figure. Then, unhurriedly, he walked to Ruan Yuan’s chair, reaching out a hand before abruptly pulling it back. His brows furrowed tightly, and he made a call to Chen Cai upstairs who was overseeing K’s subordinates, instructing him to handle the situation. "Go find Little Zhi first." Ruan Yuan leaned against the chair back, indifferent to his lack of action. She had investigated him earlier and knew about his aversion to women. Only Little Zhi could ever be an exception. Shi Wei cast a glance at K, who lay motionless on the ground, bloodied and incapacitated, but he didn’t move toward the staircase. "Zhizhi, what’s wrong with her?" he muttered softly, his gaze fixed upward. He reflected carefully—it seemed her outbursts always happened when she was facing K. Yet he couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason.
