Yu Zhi handed over the continuously vibrating phone on the table to him. Shi Wei glanced coldly at the caller ID. His finger slid to the right, and his deep voice carried no discernible emotion: "What do you want?" "Brother Wei, it’s me," Meng Han’s charming voice called out to him, with a touch of excitement and joy in her eyes. "Are you here yet?" Shi Wei moved the phone away and took another look at the caller ID, displaying the bold characters "Shi Yaoyu." His face hardened impatiently: "Get lost." Before the caller could reply, the man decisively hung up and immediately added her to his blacklist without the slightest hesitation. "Who called?" In the quiet room, the phrase "Brother Wei" echoed sharply. Yu Zhi pursed her lips, clearly guessing the answer yet still asking the question. Shi Wei showed her the call record, his tone full of survival instinct: "That woman doesn’t have my number; she used Shi Yaoyu’s phone." The man wrapped his arm around Yu Zhi’s slender and soft waist with one hand. With a bit of strength, he pulled her into his arms. Yu Zhi turned off his phone screen and tilted her head slightly, her gaze tinged with a bit of sadness: "Does she know your family?" Shi Wei’s good mood lifted his thin lips into a smirk, his peach blossom eyes shimmering as if they held starlight, mesmerizing beyond comparison. "I only like you." His soft, gentle voice carried a tender intimacy, drawing one into a tightly woven net they couldn’t resist. Yu Zhi held his gaze for two seconds. Feeling a burning sensation in her ears, she instinctively shrank into his chest, the motion causing her hair to fall and cover the blushing red tip of her ear. Shi Wei tightened his hold on the small bundle in his arms, letting out a low, sexy laugh from deep in his throat. But the cozy scene didn’t last long before it was interrupted again by the vibration of the man’s phone. Yu Zhi lifted her wrist slightly: "Shi Beiming is calling." "Alright, Zhizhi, open the speaker for me." Shi Wei buried his face in the girl’s neck, inhaling the faint scent of peaches that lingered on her skin. If the timing weren’t wrong, he truly would’ve devoured this little peach. "Little Wei, where are you?" "Outside." The man’s tone was somewhat dismissive, as if he had no desire to engage in conversation. Shi Beiming: "I heard from Yaoyu that she saw your car downstairs. Why didn’t you come straight up?" Shi Yaoyu’s celebration party was also being held at the Golden Court Hotel tonight, though she and Yu Zhi had different objectives and were on separate floors. "I have things to do and can’t come." She turned her head away in a huff, ignoring him. This remark hit Shi Wei’s weak spot; he dared not tease his young lady any further. He shifted the topic: "Zhizhi, can I head downstairs for a bit? I promise not to talk to any women." "Is it because of Professor Liu?" When their conversation turned serious, Yu Zhi quickly stopped sulking. "Yes, he taught both my mother and me. I haven’t seen him in years." "Then go ahead." Her unhesitating response left Shi Wei momentarily surprised: "Really?" Yu Zhi nodded. She wasn’t an unreasonable person and was willing to give him the trust he deserved. "Zhizhi is so good." Shi Wei cupped her small face and gently pinched it, the affection in his gaze nearly overflowing. Yu Zhi covered his hand and moved it aside from her cheek, then placed her laptop back on her knees: "Stop fooling around. I need to monitor Ruan Yuan’s movements." "Got it, I’ll watch with you." Shi Wei followed her gaze to the screen, quietly listening to the sounds coming from the laptop’s speaker. On the tenth floor, the hall echoed with the melody of a waltz. Masked men and women of various styles surrounded the dance floor, admiring the couple dancing in the center. Ruan Yuan picked up a glass of red wine from a server’s tray and found a conspicuous vacant spot to sit down. She swept her gaze casually around the room before landing on her target for the evening at a position up and to the right. The man, approximately in his forties, was short and somewhat obese, his protruding beer belly threatening to burst through his shirt at any moment. He was enthusiastically chatting with others, and perhaps finding it inconvenient, removed his black mask after a few minutes, revealing his entire face. Ruan Yuan frowned slightly, her discomfort evident as she quickly redirected her gaze away from his thick lips. She took a sip of wine, leaning back against the sofa in an attempt to relax.
