Because he sees no one on this floor. He immediately sprinted forward to check the classrooms. But all he could see was empty halls. The 5th floor has 3 big lecture halls. But all of them were empty. Except for the 1st lecturer hall, the other 2 were closed. It appears as though two lecture halls were closed down for a long time.
