Chapter 376 Huff! Huff! Huff! Huff! "I... I... I can’t do this again," Grey announced as he collapsed at the top of the mountain, his clothes soaked with so much sweat it looked as though he had dipped them in a bucket of water. His chest heaved in and out in exhaustion as he stared at the rising sun, his legs aching and throbbing in pain from running up and down the mountain. Yami had initially told him to run ten times but later shifted it to twice—an arduous task Grey had somehow completed. But now, he was completely spent. Even lifting his arm... his finger... felt like a pain beyond endurance. A shadow cast over Grey’s face. Yami stood above him, casually grinning down at the exhausted boy. "Pick yourself up. We aren’t done yet," Yami announced, causing Grey to gasp in disbelief. "Wh... what more do you want? I’ve already run up and down the mountain," Grey groaned weakly as he slowly sat upright, his breathing ragged and uneven. "Do you think strengthening your body is just about running up and down a mountain? That run was to simulate a 10-kilometer run. We haven’t even started exercising your upper body yet." Yami flexed his biceps casually in front of Grey. "What other exercises are there now?" Grey asked in frustration, voice rough.f.r(e)e\webn.ovel.co\m "Get down on your knees and give me fifty push-ups," Yami ordered like a drill sergeant. "What?!" Grey shouted in shock, his mouth wide agape. In anger, he stood up to glare at Yami. "Forget it. I’m out." He waved his hands dismissively and began walking away. "You know..." Yami began without turning around, his voice calm but firm as he heard Grey’s boots clicking against the stone ground. "Millie told me you didn’t back down when faced with a threat much bigger than you. You had no real reason to protect the girls. You had no way to protect them, no power. Yet, you did. You stood face to face with someone stronger than you, persevered, and came out on top." Grey slowed his steps as Yami’s words sank in, hands clenching tightly by his sides. "Listening to her, I thought to myself—that boy is not a quitter. For a weakling to do that, he must be someone who doesn’t back down from mountainous challenges. Someone who finds a way to overcome them." Yami exhaled sharply, shaking his head. "But here you are. A single day into learning Ki, and you’ve given up. We’re just in the body refinement phase. We haven’t even touched the Dantian refinement phase... and you’ve already quit. Honestly, I’m really disappointed in you. But what can I say? It is what it—" Yami cut himself off, turning around as he heard something. Grey was on the floor. "One..." Grey called out, his voice gritted as he pushed himself off the ground, his arms shaking from strain. "Two..." he called again, continuing the push-up process, determination burning in his voice. Yami’s mouth curled into a smile as he walked forward, arms crossed while watching Grey push through his limits. "You’re right," Grey said, forcing out the words between breaths as he pushed himself up and down. "I’m not a quitter... and I will never quit." "That’s my boy," Yami grinned, pride flickering in his eyes as he saw the fire blazing in Grey’s gaze despite the exhaustion weighing him down. A few minutes later, Grey’s voice rang out once again, loud and defiant: "Forty-eight!" he shouted, sweat trickling down his body and drenching his clothes even more. "Forty-nine," Grey huffed and puffed, his hands trembling, his teeth gritted so tightly they ground against each other. "Fi... fifty!" Grey shouted, and the next moment, he collapsed straight to the ground in complete exhaustion. His chest burned, his breathing grew ragged and erratic. Yami rushed over with a bottle in his hand, which he handed to Grey. Grey snatched it greedily, uncapped it, and began gulping until he halted mid-swallow. Tchk! Grey spat the liquid out, coughing as he glanced into the bottle. It wasn’t water—it was a greenish liquid that produced an offensive odor strong enough to make his nose wrinkle. "What the hell is this?!" Grey asked as he glared at Yami, who only raised an eyebrow. "That is my special training juice. It helps clear weariness, exhaustion, and fatigue. Well... not totally, just a bit." Yami shrugged casually. "How sure am I this isn’t made from toilet water, based on its stench?" Grey eyed Yami suspiciously, turning the bottle over again while quickly closing his nose. "How dare you?!" Yami shouted dramatically, clutching his chest with mock hurt while staring at Grey with fake sadness. "I would never do that to my dear student." He grinned devilishly right after, ruining the act. "Okay... that grin is weird," Grey muttered as he capped the bottle and tossed it back to Yami, who caught it effortlessly. "How do you feel?" Yami asked, raising a brow. "Less tired... I guess." Grey stretched his hands and then flexed his fingers, the burning in his muscles easing up slightly. "Great. I guess that means more training," Yami smirked. "What?! Come on, allow me to rest a lil bit," Grey pleaded with a tired sigh. "I’m not hearing any of it," Yami said, turning his head away stubbornly. That was when an idea clicked in Grey’s head. A small, faint smile crept onto his face. "I’m at least allowed a question, right?" Grey asked, and Yami turned around, nodding slightly. "Fine. Shoot." "The stages of a Yun warrior—" Grey began with a curious tone. "As a person advances up the stages, how strong will that said person be? And what’s the highest stage of a Yun warrior there is?" Yami sighed, glancing around before walking towards the side of the mountain. He bent down, picked up a small pebble, and walked back to Grey with it in his palm. "You see this pebble?" Yami asked, holding it between his thumb and forefinger. Grey nodded, staring at it. "A stage one warrior would struggle to break it in one squeeze. A stage two can do better—they’d crush it in an instant." Yami pressed his fingers together, reducing the pebble to dust with little effort, letting it scatter in the wind. "That’s the difference between stage one and stage two. Now, imagine that multiplied." Grey swallowed hard. "So you see... the highest stage of a Yun warrior—which is stage ten—is also called the Divine Stage. A warrior at that level could level this whole mountain with a single tap of their finger." "Wait, what?!" Grey shouted in shock, shooting up from the ground despite his fatigue. "Just with a tap of his finger?!" "Yup." Yami nodded casually, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "They could destroy a town if they put in more effort. A city if they get serious. And they might just struggle a little against a whole faction... but only if that faction has a stage ten warrior too." ’Th... that’s so destructive. The Divine Stage, huh?’ Grey thought, his mind racing. ’I wonder if I can ever reach that stage... Wait a second...’ "So, what stage of a warrior are you?" Grey asked with a raised eyebrow, eyes narrowing in curiosity. But Yami just chuckled. "I see what you’re trying to do, but it won’t work," Yami grinned. "Now get back to training before I throw you off this mountain again!" "Yes, sir!" Grey saluted quickly, dropping back into position, forcing his tired body to move. But even as he trained, the question still lingered in his mind: ’How strong is Yami really? And will Grey ever see his full strength?’ __ {A/N} Hey Magus Legion!
