Chapter 340: Oh!You can bleed?!Chapter 340 "No! We aren’t here to joke. But sorry to say," Grey said with a smirk curving his lips, his voice dripping with confidence, "the fake banter got you again." He raised his hand and pointed skyward. The ogre’s gaze followed, narrowing as it saw fifty earth spears and fifty lightning arrows suspended ominously in the sky above. "Have fun stopping them," Grey muttered. Snap! With a crisp snap of his fingers, the storm of spells descended like divine judgment. The earth spears whistled as they tore through the air, followed closely by the crackling lightning arrows that streaked like vengeful stars. BOOM! The explosion of raw magic shook the entire battlefield. A wave of force burst outward from the impact, slamming into nearby walls, crumbling stone like brittle parchment. Dust and debris clouded the arena, swirling in a chaotic vortex. Grey’s robe flapped in the sudden gust as a confident smile formed on his face. But then— WOOSH! A loud whooshing sound heralded the clearing of the dust, revealing a sight that made Grey’s smile vanish. The ogre stood tall amidst the wreckage. Only a few shallow scratches marred its crimson skin. Its massive sword was embedded in the ground beside it, still glowing faintly from the force it had absorbed. The ogre smirked. "That didn’t even tickle. Is it safe to assume humans are all bark and no bite?" it asked mockingly, its deep voice reverberating like thunder. Grey’s fists clenched, his eyes burning with disbelief. ’Wait, what the actual hell?! How is it still alive even with that? How is this possible? That attack is enough to totally pulverize a level 10 beast. How can it still be standing?’ Grey screamed inwardly as he glared at the beast in anger. "Just stop talking," Grey muttered coldly. With another snap of his fingers, twenty earth shards erupted from the ground and zipped toward the ogre at blinding speed. Yet the beast didn’t flinch. With a swift, controlled swing, it sliced through the shards, each one shattering upon contact with its indomitable sword. ’Impossible! Not even the slightest crack on that sword? "I don’t like the grin on that filth’s face!" Noir snarled, his voice echoing with barely restrained rage. With a blur of motion, Noir burst forward. His speed kicked up a storm of dust behind him as the ogre blinked in momentary confusion. BUZZ! Twin beams of searing energy exploded from Noir’s horn, roaring toward the ogre. The beast grunted and leapt back, its sword swinging forward to intercept the beams. The ground erupted as the beams were redirected, blasting deep gouges into the earth. Before the ogre could recover, Noir shrunk down in the blink of an eye, becoming no larger than a pup. He darted up the spear the ogre had just drawn, his paws barely visible. WHAM! With a nimble leap, Noir sprang off the spear and slammed his tiny body into the ogre’s face. The beast stumbled, sliding back a few feet. Then, just as fast, Noir expanded once again into his full majestic form. He bared his gleaming fangs, opened his maw, and unleashed a torrent of twenty fireballs. The flaming projectiles whistled through the air, scorching everything in their path. The ogre gritted its teeth, abandoning its spear and reclaiming its colossal sword. With a flurry of masterful swings, it batted away the fireballs one after the other, sparks raining down like meteor fragments. Noir growled, preparing to attack again, but before he could react— THUD! The ogre lunged forward with terrifying speed. It had switched weapons once more, now wielding a mammoth hammer brimming with destructive intent. It raised the weapon high and brought it down with a roar, the air cracking under the sheer force of the incoming blow. The battlefield trembled as Noir braced for impact. "Big mistake," Noir growled, his lips curling into a sharp-toothed grin. In an instant, his massive body shrank to the size of a pup, and he shot across the battlefield like a living shadow. The ogre’s enormous hammer came crashing down with a thunderous BOOM, striking the ground where Noir had just stood and carving a crater nearly ten meters deep. The ground trembled beneath the sheer force. "Well done," came Grey’s voice, calm and mocking. "You just left your side wide open." The ogre barely had time to turn before a wind-forged sword howled through the air and slammed into its ribcage. Blood sprayed from the fresh wound, and the ogre stumbled back a few steps. "Oh-ho!" Grey exclaimed with exaggerated glee. "You can bleed? That’s cute. Don’t worry—I’ll help you do a lot more of it." In a surge of motion, Grey shot forward, arcs of lightning spiraling around his arms. With a swift thrust, he unleashed a barrage of crackling bolts directly at the beast. The ogre snarled and spun, its broadsword cleaving the air and smashing the lightning into the dirt with explosive bursts of energy. Awhooo! Noir howled from above. Hovering high, the familiar bared his jaws and loosed a roaring stream of fire toward the ogre’s exposed back. Faced with danger from two fronts, the ogre had to make a split-second decision. With a guttural roar, it raised its hammer and slammed it into the earth. A wall of dirt and rock erupted upward, shielding it from Grey’s elemental barrage. Then, it spun with startling agility, hoisting its sword above its head to block the descending torrent of flame from Noir. "Graaaghh!" the ogre bellowed, the flames pressing it down until its knees trembled. Its muscles bulged with effort as it resisted the heat. Finally, with a feral scream, it swung its sword skyward, slicing through the flames and knocking Noir out of the air. Noir twisted in midair, landing gracefully, but before he could even find his footing, the ogre charged, its hammer already mid-swing. BOOM! A massive wall of earth surged upward between them, intercepting the blow. The hammer crashed into it, cracks spider-webbing across the surface before it crumbled into dust. In Noir’s place stood Grey, his gaze steely and unwavering. "You like hammers?" he said coolly. "Then it’s only fair I use one to—" He trailed off. A tremor pulsed through the battlefield, rippling across stone and soul alike. Even the ogre froze, its instincts sensing something... more. The sky had turned black. A storm of unnatural lightning danced above, crackling and pulsing like a living thing. And from its center—Kael descended. He shot from a bolt of lightning like a divine missile, wreathed in an electric aura so intense the very air shimmered around him. ’Kael... He’s battling a level 16 beast alone? Without backup? Without even breaking through?!’ Grey’s heart clenched. ’Meanwhile, I’m here... struggling—even with four affinities. Just how far ahead is he?’ "Focus!" Noir barked, snapping Grey out of his trance. But the warning came a beat too late. The ogre had already reacted, taking advantage of Grey’s distraction. Its hammer whistled through the air like a cannonball, aimed squarely at Grey’s face. Grey barely managed to conjure an earth shield, encasing both arms just in time. BANG! The hammer struck the shield, sending shockwaves across the field. Grey skidded back but held his ground, a confident smirk forming on his face. "What’s wrong?" he taunted. "Don’t tell me you’re grow—" CRACK! The sound came like a gunshot. Fissures spread rapidly through the earthen shield, and before Grey could even blink, the ogre’s massive sword came hurtling through the smoke. BOOM! The impact was brutal. Grey’s body flew across the arena like a meteor, crashing into the far wall with enough force to bring the entire structure down on top of him in a cloud of dust and rubble. "GREY!" Noir’s desperate howl echoed through the arena, filled with rage and disbelief.
