Another step, and another chain burst apart, unable to hold him any longer. His entire body began to glow an intense white, his crimson hair fluttering as if caught in a storm. The rumblings in the sky grew more violent, matching the storm building within him. "I’m the Supreme Mage!" Grey roared, and bolts of lightning crashed down from the heavens like a torrential rain. BOOM! An explosive wave of energy erupted from Grey, shaking the entire structure. His eyes crackled with a fusion of mystical and lightning energy, glowing with a godlike intensity. Above, the lightning bolts hovered—suspended in the air, frozen in place by his power. The entire house trembled, the floor shifted, furniture lifted off the ground and spun. The wind howled with fury as Grey hovered inches above the floor, staring down at the assassin. So you finally awakened something new, huh?" the assassin mocked with a sinister chuckle. In response, the shadows in the room pulsed—rippling like liquid—and swirled toward him. The shadows encased him, forming a dense armor of darkness until he resembled a walking shadow himself. His eerie mask remained fixed, and now, a jagged shadow sword materialized in his grip as he narrowed his eyes at Grey, prepared for whatever came next. "Now," Grey muttered, snapping back from his thoughts as he focused on the assassin. "Where were we?" "We were at the part where I send you to your parents!" the assassin howled as he sank into the shadows. A portal spiraled open beside Grey, and the assassin burst out like a fluid lightning bolt. "You picked the wrong target to mess with," Grey growled. He kicked off the air and propelled himself backward, narrowly avoiding the strike—just as one of the suspended lightning bolts came crashing down behind him with immense force. CRACK! The bolt struck where the assassin had been moments earlier, shattering the ground and sending tremors through the house. "Tsk," the assassin scoffed, reforming from the shadows a short distance away. "You still don’t get it. I control th—" "Keep shut!" Grey interrupted, spinning mid-air with speed that defied logic. A silent boom echoed as he reappeared directly in front of the assassin, a lightning arrow charged in his hand, glowing with lethal power. He thrust the arrow forward, aiming to slam it into the assassin at point-blank range—but just before impact, a swirling portal opened behind the masked figure, sucking him in and vanishing him from sight. "You really don’t know who you’re dealing with, do you?" Grey muttered. "Let me show you." He twirled his fingers, and the entire house began to spin. The walls groaned as the room twisted on its axis, furniture levitating in a surreal dance. Wind and mana surged around him. Just then, another shadow portal opened up beside him. The assassin flew out of it, shadow sword ready to strike—but the spin of the room disoriented him. In a split-second miscalculation, he found himself right beside Grey. BANG! Grey didn’t hesitate. He turned sharply and delivered a devastating kick, charged with lightning, slamming the assassin straight down. The impact was so forceful it would have echoed throughout the house—if the shadows hadn’t muffled the sound. "I told you," Grey said coldly. Then, with a resounding blast, he shot down from the air, diving straight toward the stunned assassin. The assassin scrambled to respond, clapping his hands together and unleashing a dozen razor-sharp shadow swords that shot upward, aiming to intercept the airborne Grey. But Grey was already in motion, eyes blazing with electricity, as he twisted his body mid-air, dodging the incoming blades with narrow precision. "Wind Magic!" Grey called out as the wind howled violently around him, encasing him in a swirling tornado that spun with ferocious intensity. The vortex deflected the incoming shadow swords with ease, causing them to bounce off harmlessly as they failed to find a weak spot to sink into. Swoosh! Grey descended like a tempest, wrapped in the howling tornado, and upon landing, the wind shot outward in a powerful blast. The force sent broken furniture, splintered wood, and debris flying into the walls like cannonballs. "You picked the wrong target," Grey snarled, his voice laced with fury. He kicked the ground with such power that the marble floor beneath his lightning-charged boots shattered instantly. Zoom! He darted forward at lightning speed, a blur to the naked eye. Before the assassin could react, Grey’s hand clamped around his shadowy face, slamming him into the nearest wall with a thunderous bang that shook the entire house. "I begged you! I pleaded with you not to hurt her!" Grey shouted, his voice raw with anguish and rage. Still gripping the assassin’s face, he drove it across the wall, dragging and scraping it as if sharpening a blade against stone. The friction shredded away at the shadows cloaking the assassin’s face, the magic unraveling in threads, revealing glimpses beneath. Grey’s teeth were clenched tightly, his fury uncontainable. "Not only did you make out with her—" Grey’s voice cracked with emotion, "—you killed her!" he roared. He leapt back, twisting mid-air, and launched himself forward again, his body spinning. He slammed both feet into the assassin’s jaw, the impact sending him crashing into the opposite wall. CRASH! The wall exploded into rubble, creating a massive gaping hole in the house. The assassin collapsed on the ground outside, bathed in sunlight. Grey’s eyes narrowed when he noticed something—sunlight was eating away at the shadow covering the man’s body. ’Is that a weakness?’ Grey thought, eyes gleaming with realization. The assassin hissed in pain before sinking into the ground like liquid and reappearing back inside the darkened interior of the ruined house. "You shouldn’t have done that," the assassin muttered, shaking his head. With a snap of his fingers, several shadow swords launched at Grey with deadly precision. Grey narrowed his eyes. ’Remember, they can phase through barriers,’ he calmly reminded himself. And then— BOOM! He vanished in a flash of lightning. The assassin twisted around, looking in all directions, but Grey was gone. The shadow swords slammed into the walls behind him and exploded, shaking what remained of the building. Suddenly, Grey reappeared directly in front of the assassin—one hand holding a crackling lightning arrow, the other blazing with a fire arrow. "You’re good with shadows," Grey growled, "but I’m better with my elements." He thrust both arrows into the assassin’s chest. The impact released a massive shockwave, shaking the floor, cracking the walls, and sending the assassin flying backward. His shadow body began to crumble—but just as quickly, the shadows surged again and reassembled around him, shielding him. "You don’t know a thing about me," Grey said coldly. Above them, the suspended lightning bolts began to multiply, doubling in both size and number until the sky looked like a storm waiting to explode. The assassin stood up slowly, his shadow form flickering as he glanced up at the sky. Thunder rumbled louder and louder. "My strength doesn’t lie in just my magic," Grey said, snapping his fingers. "It lies in my brain." At that moment, the massive bolts of lightning—each as thick as a tree trunk—came crashing down like divine punishment. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The ground shattered. The remaining walls exploded outward. The roof disintegrated. The house collapsed entirely under the assault, reduced to rubble in a matter of seconds. Sunlight poured in through the destroyed ceiling, washing over everything—and that’s when Grey saw it again. The assassin’s shadowy body began to writhe and recoil from the light, twisting and shrinking away. ’Crap! He noticed... this will only get worse now,’ the assassin thought grimly. Raising a single finger, he pointed at Grey. "You shouldn’t have done that," he muttered darkly. "Now things are about to get worse for you." Suddenly, Grey’s body jerked. He lost control. His limbs froze, and his entire body floated helplessly toward the assassin. "Crap! What the hell is going on?!" Grey shouted, eyes wide in alarm as he felt himself being pulled forward unwillingly. And then, beside the assassin, a second figure began to materialize—slowly taking shape in the haze of dark mist and swirling shadows. __ {A/N} Hey Magus Legion!
