"Am—First Veil... This pest jumped on me at the last moment; I didn't notice her," Neraxis said, pushing Eris off.
"Who are you calling a pest? You tie me up, throw me into a dumpster, and then leave me hanging from a tree! You—You deserve to die!" she replied, raising her bow.
But before she could do anything, Amara's stern voice rang out, freezing both of them in place.
"Enough, Fifth Veil, who is she?"
"She... Sort of helped me with this task, albeit not intentionally," he explained. "The monarchs were being led by an apostle of the Envy Sovereign."
As his words fell, Amara's brows twitched for a short moment.
However, Neraxis caught on to that. "Is there something I need to know?"
"Not at the moment." Amara shook her head. "For completing this task, you will receive 1000 points to spend however you wish."
"...I see." Neraxis nodded. "Can I exchange 1000 points for you to tell me who the Sovereigns are?"
"No. That is high-level information; you are still over 99,000 points short," she denied, before turning to Eris. "As for you, what do I do with you? I can't send you back since you're marked now..."
Marked? That word caught Neraxis's interest as she continued speaking.
"Do you have family back in that world? Anything?"
"No ma'am," Eris replied respectfully. "The only thing I had was my backpack, which this prick tore."
"I'll reimburse you for the backpack and give you a residence to stay in for now until I figure out what to do with you. Does that work for you?" Amara asked in a kind tone, puzzling Neraxis.
She asked me to kill all those people, and now she's offering someone a place to stay? he thought with disbelief.
Eris tilted her head. "Why can't you send me back?"
"You were marked by the people you fought. If I send you back now, you'll become a test subject," Amara explained. "So what will it be, girl? Do you want to become a test subject, or live a carefree life in the Fifth Veil's world?"
"Fifth Veil? You mean Neraxis?" Eris asked, her expression turning sour. "I don't mind living there as long as it means I won't get dissected. But can you arrange for me to live further away from him? I don't want to accidentally kill him."
Amara chuckled. "Let's talk a bit more, shall we?" She turned to Neraxis. "Mission complete, Fifth Veil. You may go back now."
Before he could protest, she swung her sword down, immediately sending him back in front of his own house.
However, one good look at the sky, and he could tell it was a bit late.
Despite his exhaustion, he went inside his home, swiftly heading up to his room to wash off all the blood before heading out again.
As much as he hated being left in the dark, Amara was a mystery he did not even know how to begin solving; therefore, he put it behind him for now.
But it was a strange feeling—her strikes did not feel as fast as before, and the strength behind them wasn't that great either.
Did I really get that much stronger in such a short time? he couldn't believe it.
Nonetheless, he was going to spar fair and square, without the usage of any skills, only pure swordsmanship.
Yet as easily as he was dodging and redirecting her attacks, Celina was doing the same.
Only a few were able to truly graze her, and even then, due to her supernatural healing, the wounds closed up in an instant.
However, Neraxis felt like he was truly grasping onto something, with each block, with each moment, he was improving his swordsmanship at an incredibly fast rate.
That was until both of her daggers headed straight for his face.
He was in an uncomfortable position; therefore, dodging seemed impossible, and because his sword was long, parrying too.
But despite all that, his body instinctually leaned down, and as Celina brought her daggers together, Neraxis tilted his sword, perfectly separating her daggers and redirecting her body to fly off behind him.
How did I do that? he wondered as he glanced at his hands.
This was not ordinary redirection, as he managed to do it in the very last instant, grasping at the opponent's tiny imperfections in their technique.
None of that would have been possible without the precise moments he had executed in the very last instant either.
A perfect sequence—something that would be difficult to replicate.
But he did it—even if just once, it was more than enough for the system to recognize his efforts.

Neraxis stared at it with satisfaction.
It had not been a long time since he started using the sword, and yet, his progress was extremely fast.
But it would only grow faster from here.
He turned to Celina, who was lying on the ground, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
"More?" Neraxis offered with a teasing smile, and she replied with a competitive look.
"Of course."
