Even the plague which had been proactively eating away at his flesh had fully disappeared. Instead, what replaced it was this feeling of dread he couldn't quite shake away. The vampire I had woken up earlier seemed to have lost himself too, but he was still pretty easy to handle, Neraxis pondered. But she's a Transcendent, around 4 major ranks above me. Of course, he had never even faced a Saint or Mythic-ranked individual, but if one thing was certain, then the Transcendents would simply be on another level. However, in the midst of his thoughts, Neraxis saw a particular something in the distance. The plague, which had been spreading its eerie black self, had begun retracting at an incredibly fast speed, until eventually, there was nothing left. It went inside the same hole he had just come out of and left Evangeline. Just as he thought it couldn't get worse, the whole ground began shaking, cracks appearing. And of course, Neraxis, who was high in the sky, somehow felt it too. <The Eternal Sin suggests you run.> "How are you still in my fucking head? Aren't you supposed to be dormant?" Neraxis grumbled. <The Eternal Sin shrugs, saying circumstances in which so much mana is being used require his attention, even if it is exhausting. He once again advises you to run.> Yeah... as much as I don't like this guy, he does have a point, Neraxis sighed and propelled himself upward. He managed to slightly escape the harrowing feeling of Evangeline's mana, then finally sped away into the distance. The stigmata connection was still there, so if anything, they could communicate from a distance. But of course, for that, she needed to be conscious. However, as he thought he was finally far enough, Neraxis suddenly hit some kind of invisible wall, nearly splattering like a bug upon impact. Fuck that hurt. Neraxis grabbed his head and glanced toward a system pop-up. <You're inside Evangeline Noctis's Domain: Abyssal Night> <There is no escape.> "Hmm..." Neraxis hummed, realizing how dire the situation was. I'm a bit fucked here, aren't I? The moment those thoughts fell, the ground finally parted open, revealing a giant pillar of water that had shot into the sky, progressively turning red. And the moment it fully turned, he could see a vague shape of a woman at the very top of the water—Evangeline. However, she had black hair, and from what he could see, hollow black eyes. Soon, her eyes met his, making Neraxis halt as his entire body froze. <The Fragment of the Abyssal Calamity, Evangeline Noctis, has locked onto you!> Alright... focus on defense, I'm definitely not beating her, Neraxis thought as he prepared himself. But in the very next moment, a scorching pain shot through his entire body, and as he looked down, he saw a slender hand piercing straight through his chest, holding his beating heart. Neraxis didn't waste any time and twisted his body, before suddenly using {Manifestation of the Sun: Solar Ascension}. Immediately, a bunch of pop-ups appeared. <You have entered a Transcendent Solar State!> <Duration: 3 minutes.> <All damage dealt is converted to Solar-type.> <You become immune to all debuffs.> <Movement Speed and Reaction Time increase by +100%.> <Direct sunlight doubles the duration.> Immediately, he felt a bunch of power surge within him as he suddenly turned around, meeting Evangeline's blank face. "Hey, anyone in there?" Neraxis tried calling out, but it was to no avail. For the moment, this wasn't Evangeline. It was The Fragment of the Abyssal Calamity. She once again moved without him being able to spot her. Thankfully, she had dropped his heart in the process, which he swiftly grabbed with his Sun Threads and placed back inside his body. It wouldn't kill him if he were to go around without a heart, but one thing was certain. Evangeline was starved for blood, given how she was eagerly licking her fingers now in the distance. He couldn't even feel her strength, but if he had to guess, it was around Saint-ranked now, and it would only increase the more blood she absorbed. Therefore, he decided to go on the offensive. Using his own {Domain}, Neraxis swiftly reappeared behind her and prepared to strike with his rapier. However, before he could even get halfway through his attack, Evangeline's eyes locked onto him, before sending him flying into the ground and creating a crater. Each time she attacked it felt like he would die, but his insane healing factor always came through. Simply, he couldn't get close to her, and whenever he did, she simply swatted him away as though he was a bug. But he had one more skill he could try in order to get an advantage against her. And that was exactly what he did. {Manifestation of the Sun: Radiant Pulse}. Unlike the previous skill, this one didn't have pop-ups, but the effect was simple. Everyone in a 100-meter radius of Neraxis would get stunned. And as he stared at Evangeline, who stopped licking his blood off her fingers, he knew he had succeeded. Therefore, he activated {Sword Dash}, while also boosting his own attack with {Primordial Presence: Singularity}. A fierce multicolored aura appeared around his rapier as Neraxis brought it down like a bat on Evangeline's shoulder. Immediately, a loud tear resounded, followed by his rapier tore into Evangeline's shoulder. Before it could go any further, Evangeline's blank black eyes locked onto him—then, with a swift motion, she flicked her hand toward him. She was aiming right for his neck, and due to the close proximity, he wasn't able to dodge fully. Therefore, Evangeline managed to ripped apart Neraxis's neck. He just barely managed to hold it together with his Sun Threads while waiting for his healing to take effect. But to his surprise, the massive gash on his neck wasn't healing. However, it didn't take long to find out why. <Overwhelming Presence Detected!> <Debuff Immunity Bypassed!> <Healing Disabled!> Neraxis furrowed his brows. She's not even trying... Fuck, this is going to get a lot more difficult now.
