"Look at this puny human. He actually wants to fight us." one of the armored skeletons said with a chuckle, turning around to its friends.
However, the moment it turned its back to Neraxis, he kicked off the ground and, upon reaching the skeleton, placed his hand on its shoulder.
In an instant, its already shabby bones disintegrated, stunning the nearby Skeleton Legion.

"Hum—!" Another armored skeleton shouted but was interrupted by Neraxis's {Simple Stab}, which managed to pierce through several of them at once.@@@@

Well, I killed 6 of them in one go, only 14 remain now, Neraxis thought with a hum.
"I don't suppose you can tell me about your master?" he asked.
However, the armored skeletons merely shot back with a scoff, followed by several arrows flying toward him.
Just before they hit, Neraxis used {Sword Dash}, appearing before the batch of armored skeletons and swinging his sword down.
But to his surprise, they were ready, and the moment he reappeared, several of the sword-wielding armored skeletons thrust their swords forward, just narrowly missing Neraxis.
Or so he thought—but soon, an arrow flew from the front, giving him no time to dodge.
It was heading straight for his heart. At the last moment, Neraxis used the hidden effect of the {Unyielding Vitality} perk, shifting his heart slightly to the side.
"Ugh—" Neraxis let out a groan as the arrow went clean through where his heart was.
The armored skeletons were surprised for a moment, and he used this chance to swing his sword in an arc, cutting down every skeleton holding him.

At the same time, Neraxis glanced toward the archers in the distance, and with a mere thought, used {Stellar Dominion: Cosmic Cascade}.
To his surprise, while it did hit, the impact was far weaker than he had expected, not even managing to kill a single one.
And just as he thought that, he glanced down at his wound, right where the arrow had gone through.
Black blood was dripping down, and once it hit the ground, it melted the surrounding uneven desolate land like acid.
"What did you do to me?" Neraxis asked, feeling the temperature inside his chest rise.
"It's poison, strong human," one of the Armored Skeleton Archers explained. "Your body will feel warm, then hot, and once you no longer feel the heat anymore, that's when you will begin to melt from the inside out."
"Sounds pretty shitty," Neraxis remarked before using {Restorative Cut}.
After all of his healing upgrades, this skill should have undergone the most changes.
Nonetheless, he wasted no time and kicked off the ground, approaching the Armored Skeleton Swordsman.

At Neraxis's words, the skeleton archer looked up at him speechlessly before flashing the middle finger.
And with that, it fell lifeless to the ground

Well, that was a bit eventful, Neraxis hummed and glanced at the regular skeletons surrounding him.
The little blue flames—representing their eyes—were shaking violently, meaning they were afraid of him.
Taking advantage of that, Neraxis strode toward the city, using their heads as stepping stones.
In the meantime, he also managed to catch one of the boulder-slinging skeletons off guard and kill it.

After a few minutes of traveling atop the skeletons' heads, he reached the wall. With a quick jump and {Aura of the Abyss} carving footholds, he scaled it with ease.
Finally, as he overlooked the city, he noticed everything was still pretty tame.
As for the timer,

Only a bit had passed, and only the fastest skeletons managed to make it to the city's walls.
But within the next hour, things would definitely kick off.
Nonetheless, Neraxis leaped across the rooftops until eventually, he arrived at the southern church.
He could see Jane roaming around while occasionally sitting down to pray.
As she did, a faint golden light emanated around her.
But instead of feeling holy, to Neraxis, it felt ominous.
Sneaking up to her, he tapped her shoulder.
"Eeeek!" Jane jumped in surprise before turning around.
But the playfulness he expected was absent—replaced by a grave expression.
"Neraxis..." she said in a low tone, taking a few glances around.
"You should probably see this..."
