Alex was left speechless when the Void demon exploded with the aura of an Adept rank mage, but he soon realised why.The spawns could mirror the strength of the mages that they saw, and since they were created by this void demon, it was only natural for them to have the same ability.
And since Alex’s aura meter skill was still active, it had mirrored Alex’s Adept mage rank strength!
The Void demon also realised that the strength it had mirrored from this human was very weak, but that didn’t matter to it since it thought that Alex was a genuine Adept rank mage. It condensed several water blades in the air and attacked Alex with them.
Alex didn’t even bother to dodge and allowed the water blades to hit him; they exploded into water droplets after hitting his robe, and they didn’t cause any damage.
The void demon realised that something was wrong with this human, and it immediately summoned its spawns. In less than three seconds, hundreds of spawns appeared in the foggy space and attacked Alex, together with different elemental attacks.
Alex sighed as his eyes changed colours behind his mask and silver white stars appeared behind him.
"Space bullet," he mumbled.
A whistling sound rang out as the invisible space bullet shot out from the star patterns above him and flew toward the Void demon that was at the back of the spawns.
The space bullet avoided all of the spawns that were rushing toward Alex and accurately pierced the face of the Void demon, instantly causing its head to explode and killing it.
The blood of the Void demon splattered all over the foggy space after its head was blown to pieces and its body fell backwards. The spawns that were rushing toward Alex all froze mid-action before exploding into purple particles that disappeared without a trace the next moment. Only the corpse of the now headless Void demon was left in front of Alex.

[ Ding! Mission completed, 10 exp!]
.....
Alex finally received the notification from killing the Void demon, everything was now over.
After the death of the Void demon, the foggy space began to collapse.
The foggy floor of the space began to lose its solid texture and the space started to shrink visibly.
Alex didn’t wish to get stuck here after the space collapsed completely so he immediately stored away the corpse of the Void demon and left the place.
He appeared outside the crack some time later and landed on top of a collapsed building that was half-painted with blood, most likely of dead mages and spawns.
The mages who were waiting outside also saw Mr Chen appear from the crack, everyone turned to look at the sky.
They all saw as the crack glitched like an unstable holographic projection before slowly fading away.
The crack was gone, this meant that Mr Chen had defeated the creature inside!
Many of the mages who saw this scene immediately erupted with cheers, and some even burst out with tears of joy after they saw the crack disappear.
"It’s finally over," Ellie mumbled as she stared at Mr Chen’s tall back from where she stood.
Next to here were Julius, the Dean of Alex’s academy, and a few others.
"It’s all because of Mr Chen that the City survived. This is the biggest victory of humanity since the history of cracks appearing," Julius said. A look of admiration could be seen on his face when he stared at Alex’s figure in the distance.
"Indeed, it’s hard to believe that the fight only lasted a few hours. Usually, it would take months with thousands of deaths just to defeat a crack but we managed to defend against two within a single day." The Dean of Dragonic Magic Academy added, his eyes flashing with a reminiscing light.
Those were harsh memories!
The mages around them didn’t comment, but they could feel the weight of their words; their admiration for Mr Chen immediately reached a new height.
As for Alex, he was completely unaware of what these people were thinking as he was in a battle of thoughts.
He had caused quite a scene during the tournament just before the incident of the cracks, he was originally about to reveal his identity as Mr Chen because Clint wanted to arrest him for killing Malcolm’s daughter.
But after his encounter with the crack and the Void knight, Alex was having conflicting thoughts.
Should he still reveal his identity? Sure, doing so would help him avoid any punishment for killing someone in public and give him lots of privileges as Mr Chen but would it be worth the danger?
One, he knew that the Void knights could hurt him; his robe was useless against that slim sword and a single successful blow would certainly lead to a critical condition.
What he didn’t know was, was that the strength limit of the Void knights? Since there were more, how could he be sure that there weren’t others that were stronger than the one he encountered today?
Another thing was the second system holder. The Void knight had said before leaving that the other system was looking for him, Alex didn’t know how true this was or if the other system user was already on this planet and searching for him.
But if that was the case, then revealing his identity as Mr Chen would definitely not be a wise idea for now. Since they were looking for Mr Chen and not Alex, he could still walk around boldly without anybody jumping out and attacking him at random.
Then, there was still the Dark Union. After knowing that they were able to summon cracks, Alex felt that he had gotten a new understanding of them.
Which was that, they were more dangerous than he originally thought and needed to pinpoint their location before striking out.
Everything was fine for now since they didn’t know his true identity and couldn’t plan an ambush for him, he didn’t know all the members of the Dark Union after all.
They could only act if they saw Mr Chen, planning an ambush for Mr Chen would be near impossible since no one knew when Mr Chen would appear or where he went during normal days.
Alex planned to investigate as ’Alex’ before striking and wiping them out!
His biggest issue right now was his lack of knowledge, he had tons of questions with no answers to them. And until he found answers to these questions and was sure that nothing could threaten him anymore, revealing his identity as Mr Chen would be a stupid thing to do.
After coming to a conclusion on this matter, the next issue was how he was going to deal with the issue of the death of Malcolm’s daughter.
Alex turned around and stared at the three Archmages, he disappeared from the top of the building and appeared in front of them.
"Mr Chen, thank you for saving everyone in the city from certain death." Julius was the first to speak, expressing his admiration for Mr Chen.
Ellie stared from the side, she didn’t say anything but anyone could see that her respect for Mr Chen had grown from how it was after he saved her and her dog beast.
The Dean, Clint, William, and other mages also expressed their gratitude to Mr Chen. After all, he had no business putting himself in such risky situations just to help the City.
All of them knew that Mr Chen wasn’t a native of Balon City since he had randomly appeared one day so no one would have blamed him if he had decided to run away after two cracks appeared at once.
Alex nodded, acknowledging their gratitude before looking at Julius and the Dean of his academy.
"I saw the tournament was already in a mess before the cracks appeared." He said after making his voice as recognisable as possible.
The expression on everyone’s faces immediately changed after they heard Mr Chen’s words, they immediately knew that Mr Chen was talking about the incident between Alex and Malcolm.
"Rest assured, Mr Chen, we’ll take care of the matter soon and make sure to punish the kid for acting too rudely." Clint quickly apologised.
He thought that Mr Chen was angry that a student had been allowed to be so arrogant in public.
Julius and the Dean of Alex’s academy had conflicted looks on their faces, they didn’t know how they were going to protect Alex if Mr Chen was angry at him.
But to their surprise, Mr Chen’s next words lit up their faces and they couldn’t resist smiling.
"Punish him? I believe a member of his family was harmed. Doing anything for those you cherish is the true purpose of all mages; it is the reason we awaken."
Clint was stunned by Mr Chen’s words, so he wasn’t angry at that Alex kid?
"Of course, of course. Mr Chen is right, protecting our family is the reason we became mages." He said with a nervous laugh.
"Hmm, I admire his boldness to face someone stronger than him. Here, pass this to him for me and tell him to continue working hard," Alex said before waving one of his hands, and a headless corpse appeared in front of Clint.
