Alex was shocked to learn that there were more silver-armoured Void knights out there. How troublesome would it be if he encountered many of them at the same time?Surprisingly, this Void knight was quite chatty and Alex could get some information from it while they fought. Well, it was more of Alex thrashing it around with lightning bolts. The first thing that Alex learned from the Void knight was that he wasn’t the only one being attacked; the other system holder was also being hunted by other Void knights. They would only stop after one of them got eliminated, and the system became a single item once again. Apparently, the system was only meant to be given to one person but for some reason, the system had encountered an interference that ended up splitting it and ruining most of its functions. The Void knights, who were the guardians of the system’s origin, saw this as a threat towards the system’s origin and were out to fix it. Another thing that Alex learnt from the Void knight was that the other piece of the system wasn’t on Alex’s present planet. Alex was surprised but not too shocked by this. After all, there were already cracks that led to other realms and he had become aware of the concept of multiple worlds after transmigrating here. So hearing that the other piece of the system was on a different planet didn’t shock him too much. Alex also asked why the Void knight had only appeared now when he had been on this planet for over two months. In response, the Void knight revealed that since the system was broken, their ability to sense it had weakened greatly and it would sometimes disappear totally. The presence of the system was usually stronger when Alex was using system-related abilities. ’Hmm, so that’s why none of them have appeared until now.’ Alex thought to himself. A part of him felt that the Void knight might be lying about everything. After all, why would it tell Alex so much useful information when Alex was a target that should be hunted down? But then again, Alex felt that the words of the Void knight made some sense. Besides, the words of the Void knight were the only thing he knew for now and he couldn’t judge what was true or false. At this moment, the Void knight flew into the air after Alex shot it down with a lightning bolt for the umpteenth time. It didn’t attack Alex with its slim sword this time but pointed a finger at Alex instead. Alex raised an eyebrow, wondering what the Void knight was going to do. However, he suddenly felt something holding onto his mask. As a space mage and one at the highest mage rank at that, Alex was able to tell that the force was similar to telekinesis but was somewhat different. But he didn’t really care what the difference was; his body immediately dissolved into sparks of lightning, and he appeared at a different location. ’What now, why is it going for the all-knowing mask?’ Alex asked in his thoughts. At the same time, he created more lightning bolts and aimed at the Void knight. The Void knight flew around the place with great speed, dodging some of the lightning bolts and cutting some with its sword. It then suddenly waved its free hand at Alex and a multicoloured ball of flame shot toward Alex. Alex was instantly able to sense the multicoloured flame after it appeared and had already flashed to a different location. He stared at the multicoloured flame that had exploded at his previous position, he frowned slightly as he could feel the space being burned by the multicoloured flame. The Void knight was giving him more surprises as they fought. The fight continued, Alex kept casting spells of his two elements yet none were effective enough to harm the Void knight; its armour had not even been stretched yet. Similarly, the Void knight was unable to harm Alex even after it started using its weird multicoloured flame attacks and weak telekinesis. As they fought, Alex had noticed that the Void knight wasn’t really trying to harm him anymore; it looked like it had realised that it would be difficult for it to kill Alex alone. Instead, it was now going for Alex’s mask, as if trying to see his face. This raised another question within Alex but he couldn’t come up with an answer for the time being. He would just keep fighting and hoped for something to happen. Alex was also changing locations as they fought and was secretly farming exp by killing magic beasts that they came across. So far, he had gotten five thousand exp points from killing magic beasts with indirect attacks, and now had over seven thousand exp points, but that wasn’t enough to craft a Saint rank spell. He had used the craftsman skill during their fight and had discovered that a Saint rank spell would cost him over 500k exp points, he wasn’t even close! Just how long was he going to keep fighting this damned knight?! Just when Alex was about to lose hope and thought that he would keep fighting for days or even weeks since such long fights were normal between powerful beings in stories that he used to read, the Void knight suddenly stopped attacking him. It was flying toward Alex with a ring of large multicoloured flames hovering behind it when it suddenly came to a halt in the air. Alex, who was several meters away, stopped and looked at it as well. The ring of flames behind it suddenly disappeared and the space beside it twisted and formed a crack. Alex was spooked to see another crack appear, could it be that a second Void knight was coming?! But it turned out that he had been worried for nothing. After the crack appeared, the Void knight lowered its sword and looked at Alex before saying. "We’ll keep searching for you, Mr Chen. The other piece of the system is also searching for you, we won’t stop until the system is complete." It entered the crack after saying that and the crack disappeared. Alex "..." The Void knight...left just like that? And what did it mean that they would keep searching for him and that the other system holder was also looking for him? Has that person already started travelling between worlds? ’Fine then, you all have a good time searching for Mr Chen.’ Alex snorted in his thoughts. It was good that they were searching for Mr Chen and not Alex; not many people know that he was Mr Chen, so he didn’t have to worry about one of the knights popping up in front of him randomly. Plus, the Void knight had said that the presence of the system was stronger when he was using any system-related abilities. He didn’t know how true this statement was, but he had no other choice than to believe it for now, since he had not encountered any of the Void knights within the past two months. Alex still had so many questions, but he had to swallow them for the time being since he had no way of getting answers. One of his questions was why the Void knight had left so suddenly. Or had it not left yet? Alex didn’t return to Balon City immediately and kept the Domain of the lightning God running in case this was a trick and the Void knight suddenly attacked him. But after several hours had passed and Alex searched around with the Warden of the Rift, he was certain that the Void knight wasn’t hiding somewhere and waiting for him to lower his guard. Only then did Alex return to Balon City. Reaching Balon City, Alex met with Julius and the others who were in charge of organising the mages in his absence. He found out that the crack from which the Void knight came had disappeared long ago, but the other one from which the spawns came out was still there in the sky. According to Julius and the others, the crack of the Void knight had disappeared at around the time that the Void knight left during their fight. Now Alex was sure that the Void knight had really left, but for reasons he couldn’t tell. Anyways, that didn’t matter right now because there was still another crack in the sky. Alex told the mages to wait while he went to check it out. He already knew what sort of creature was inside the crack, it was a void demon. Entering the crack, Alex found himself in an empty foggy space, but he was able to step on the fog as if it were solid ground. Alex immediately went to look for the void demon that had been sending demon spawns to attack people outside. He found the demon after searching for just a few seconds. The Void demon looked very similar to the spawns, or maybe it was the other way around. It had a single mid-length bat wing flapping behind it as its feet hovered a few distances from the fog. Right in front of Alex, the void demon exploded with the aura of an Adept mage. Alex "..."
