Chapter 77: 077 Ever since the doctor began, Tristan has been appalled by what he was doing but he kept quiet because of the Alpha’s presence beside him. Alpha Mitch smoothed back his hair and held his hand for the few minutes the doctor used checking him. "I do not have the right to question your bedroom activities but I would implore you to take it slow from now on". The doctor said suddenly and Tristan’s face felt hot in embarrassment. But that didn’t even bother him as he was tensed that the doctor might take things further. "What happened wasn’t intentional, I am not this careless". Alpha Mitch’s face darkened after what the doctor said. It was like a slap in the face and he hated it. The doctor glanced up at him briefly and shook his head. "I suppose you do not like your mate. If you do, then you wouldn’t have done this in the first place.". The doctor replied, annoyed by the Alpha’s response but he was not in the position to get angry as he was only his client. "I did not call you here to lecture me". Alpha Mitch spat and glared at the doctor. Tristan listened to their exchange of words and suspected they have a long history. "The last time I was here it was because you suddenly fainted, now I’m wondering what actually caused it. Was it a bedroom activity?" The doctor recalled and gave the Alpha a side look. He adjusted his glasses and started packing his stuff. "You do not like your job anymore?" The Alpha asked, threatening him. "Not really, if I have to spend the rest of my days like this I would rather stop now. But before I do so, I will say what I want to you". He replied and chucked. Alpha Mitch didn’t laugh along with him and only sent him a hard glare. The doctor left after he was done and Tristan had drifted while listening to them. Alpha Mitch covered him properly with the covers and stood up from the bed. "Once you get well, we will pick up from where we stopped". He said staring blankly ahead. *** The sound of his phone ringing woke Tristan up. Groaning, he searched blindly for the device and picked the call after he saw Nita’s name displayed on the screen. "Nita". He called drowsily, his eyes half closed and his consciousness slipping. "Tristan". Nita sobbed on the other end. "I need your help". She continued in a small voice. Tristan frowned and opened his eyes. Hearing her cry made him worried and drove most of the sleep out of his eyes. "Can I stay with you for a few days?" She continued in a low voice and that made Tristan unsettled. It is not easy to see or hear Nita cry and hearing her cry means she was helpless and really needed help. "What happened to your place?" Tristan asked and she sniffled. "I will explain when we see but I really need to leave now". She said, and Tristan was heartbroken to hear her talk that way but he wasn’t in a good condition himself to talk for long. "I will call you back". Tristan replied and ended the call. He was just about to call the Alpha when he walked in carrying a tray of food. His stomach turned just looking at it and he felt repulsed. Alpha Mitch smiled at him and placed the food down before helping him sit up. Tristan was amused by his extra attention and bask in his care. "You could have asked the maid to bring it". He said softly as he placed the food in front of him. With the maid he could easily evade her and not eat the food but just staring at the determined look on the Alpha’s face he might not have much luck with that. "Hse is busy with other things". Alpha Mitch replied and scoop a spoonful of porridge oats up. Tristan turned his mouth away. "I don’t want to eat". "Not now, maybe later". He added in a pleading voice as the Alpha did not look pleased. "I-uhm need help with something". Tristan spoke up again after a few minutes of silence. "I would only listen to you if you eat". The Alpha replied and Tristan pouted as he looked at the food with disinterest. "A few bites". Alpha Mitch negotiated and he succumbed. He smiled in relief watching him eat a few spoonfuls after refusing to eat for almost a day. The maid cleared the leftover and Tristan eagerly turned towards the Alpha. "Will you listen now?" He asked and the Alpha nodded while helping him tuck a strand of hair behind his ear. "Nita said she wants to come here". He said carefully and watched for a change in his expression but Alpha Mitch only silently told him to continue. "She seems to be in danger and I’m worried about her". He completed and waited with baited breath. "Alright I will have Boston pick her up". Alpha Mitch replied and Tristan broke into a wide smile of relief. He immediately hugged him and felt better even if he was feeling tired and sick. "Why are you so excited? Does her presence make you that happy, are you unhappy with me?" Alpha Mitch said with narrowed eyes at him. Tristan’s eyes widened in disbelief, how can he just assume things?. He thought in confusion. "She is my best friend, the only one I have. Isn’t it normal to be happy around her?". "The only one? What about the Alpha that you danced with?" Alpha Mitch asked and his face darkened with jealousy. Tristan chuckled and avoided his gaze at the mention of Trevor. He would never have thought a day would come and he would see the Alpha this petty. "He is more of an acquaintance than a friend so I don’t really consider him my friend, are you jealous?" Tristan asked, laughing softly. Alpha Mitch’s gaze softened as he watched him laugh, he hadn’t seen him laugh that much before. Hell, they haven’t even spent much time around each other to laugh together. While he continued to indulge his teasing he promised in heart to never hurt him again.
