Chapter 71: 071 Tristan spent the next few days alone in the mansion, the Alpha King left without as much as a word to him. On the third day, he started getting worried as it was getting too long that they have been apart. He was in the dining room for lunch when someone walked in, he was relieved for a second thinking the Alpha had returned and only to meet Gale’s gaze as he looked up from his food. The beta could not believe his eyes and he stared too long at the Omega that looked like he had appeared out of nowhere. "Hey, you are back?" He asked, without hiding his disapproval. "I can’t believe the Alpha didn’t say anything!" Gale thought angrily. He had believed the Omega was gone from the Alpha’s life but he was wrong. Tristan nodded and turned his attention back to his food. He was disappointed and sad. He wished the Alpha returned very soon or he would start getting very worried. Gale turned to leave the room, annoyed by the way Tristan had responded to him but he suddenly stopped. "Please do you know when he is coming back?, It’s been days" Tristan asked carefully, the last part of his statement was softer almost a whisper. He doesn’t want to sound clingy or desperate, Gale doesn’t have a good impression of him already. "I don’t know. He should be back soon". Gale replied without turning around and continued to the door with a deep frown. The presence of the Omega means trouble and he won’t let that happen again. Tristan was relieved to hear that and returned to his room to wait for him. He asked his maid to inform him when Alpha returned. It was a little late into the night when his maid came to wake him. "The Alpha is back". She said softly as she waited for him to wake up. Even without proper explanation she knew the reason he was there was because he needed the Alpha’s pheromones but what she couldn’t understand was keeping the Alpha in the dark. Although she understood fairly that things between them aren’t that good so she cannot blame him. The Alpha was also too cold to people generally and would not get involved with an Omega, he was the first in years. Tristan thanked her and struggled out of the bed. "He is in his room now, can you go to him or should I get him for you?" She asked in concern as he wobbled on his feet and she held out her hands as if to catch him in case he fell. "Can you get him here?" Tristan asked, a little surprised. "Yeah, it’s not hard". She said with a soft smile and helped him straighten his pajamas. "No, I should go to him". Tristan replied and held her hand for some support. His frail body looked like it would snap into two. Lack of appetite and instability of his pheromones had made him shed too much of body fat. He breathed in and set for the Alpha’s room, but he was nervous as he got closer to his door. What if the Alpha got mad at him for coming to his room?. *** Meanwhile, Alpha Mitch was on a phone call in his room as soon as he came out of the shower. He had spent the last two days at the pack house as some of the spies Alpha Raul placed in the pack house were caught. He spent his time searching for other potential spies among the servants and staff in the pack house. Hence he was exhausted, angry and irritable. He had just dropped the call when a knock sounded on the door. He waited for a few seconds as he did not request for anything and wasn’t expecting anyone this late. He slightly pulled the front of his robe together and went to open the door. He pulled the door open and was ready to snap but was surprised by the person outside the door. "Hi". Tristan said in a nervous voice in front of the tall Alpha. His eyes subconsciously travelled down to his muscular chest beneath the white robe he wore. "What is it?" Alpha Mitch asked in a rather gentle voice, he had thought the Omega would be asleep and didn’t bother asking after him. He hadn’t thought he would still be awake. Tristan could not respond to his question and only stared at him wordlessly. He cannot say the reason for coming to his room this late, in the past the Alpha would have come to his own room without much hassle but things had changed. "I... I came to..." Tristan said with a little difficulty. He could not explain without saying the truth and that was not an option for now. Alpha Mitch’s eyes softened and dragged him inside by the hand and shut the door. Tristan gasped as he was suddenly dragged into the room. He stared up at him with wide and unwavering eyes. He waited for the Alpha to say something but instead he leaned closer and just a second before it happened Tristan saw his gaze on his lips. Their lips touched and grazed for a few seconds, he went on tip toe to get closer to the Alpha. He stifled a groan as he steadied him with both hands and their bodies flushed against each other. Tristan leaned on him and didn’t comprehend anything around him until his back hit the bed. He opened his eyes and pulled back slightly to end the kiss. "How did this happen?" He thought in panic as he couldn’t explain the intensity of the Alpha’s gaze as he stared at him through eyes darkened with desire. Alpha Mitch had lost his control when he smelled his scent just a few seconds at his door. He knew he missed him so much, and was tired of putting him at arms length. Tristan moaned softly as he trailed kisses down his neck, he stiffened when his nose grazed his scent spot. Would he get angry for the change in his scent again? But that didn’t happen as the Alpha kissed him on the lips again, it was light and feathery. As if he was scared to break him. "How did you get so skinny?" Alpha Mitch asked with a frown and Tristan’s mouth opened and closed a few times, unable to answer. "Go back to your room". Alpha Mitch instructed and stood up from the bed. He doesn’t trust himself to stop if he continues and things are still vague between them. He shouldn’t let his body affect his senses. Tristan was disappointed, he didn’t move or do what he asked. "I want to stay here tonight". He replied firmly after a while.
