"Bitch!"
She shouted harshly, her voice trembling with anger, filled with intense aggression, and then questioned, "Stop with that sarcastic tone! You’re no better yourself!"
Clara Bennett heard the noise and merely curled her lips lazily, raised her hand to casually tidy some loose strands of hair, skillfully tucking them behind her ear.
Then, she resumed her usual nonchalant manner, and said to the nearly out-of-control Daisy Stone in front of her, "I’m not being sarcastic."
She emphasized this with feigned sincerity, then slightly raised her tone, blending a bit of mockery and irony in her voice, "As for what you said, do you think I’m wronging you? Hm? Isn’t it the truth?"
Every syllable she uttered was sharp, like an ice pick piercing into the other’s heart, leaving her powerless to refute.
This counterattack instantly cornered Daisy, who trembled uncontrollably, her face flushed red as if her blood vessels were about to burst, and she screamed, "Clara doesn’t have the right to boss around here? Haven’t you had the same experience, otherwise how would you have hooked up with Samuel Grant’s uncle?"
Samuel Grant’s brows knitted tightly, his expression turned extremely serious, and his voice became low and commanding, "Daisy Stone, shut up! Stop making a scene here, you’re making a fool of yourself!"
His tone was as cold as frost, every word squeezed through gritted teeth.
He absolutely could not let Jocelyn Taylor bring up the past, because the one who suffered the most from that matter was himself.
If others knew the truth, it would probably stir up another storm.
What’s more, discussing such issues in this occasion was too awkward, making him extremely uneasy.
Daisy turned her head, looking at Samuel with complex emotions in her eyes.
Her eyes turned slightly red, with tears seeming about to burst forth the next second, and she appeared incomparably aggrieved and angry.
"What nonsense? Samuel, are you deaf? Did you hear what that woman just said? Or do you think it doesn’t matter, and you’re not planning to handle her? Have you forgotten the bond between us? Now get up and teach her a lesson for me!"
Her voice rose several notches, sharp and rapid, nearly tearing the air, pouring out all her dissatisfaction and grievances.
However, this accusation did not earn any sympathy, instead making her appear even more hysterical.
Clara’s lips curved slightly, showing a mocking smile, then she let out a short, clear sneer, as if she’d just heard the funniest thing in the world.
"Teach me a lesson? Hahaha... him? Oh, that’s amusing. You said take action, but does he dare? Hmph!"
Her smile was full of disdain and provocation, raising her chin to stare at them, "I advise you to wake up and sort out the current situation first. Do you know my identity? I’m his aunt now! And he—"
Clara lightly tapped Samuel with her finger, "owes my family old man over two billion! Even if you gave him ten guts, he wouldn’t dare touch a hair on me, or how would he explain to the old man?"
Upon hearing this, Samuel’s veins throbbed on his forehead, his face alternating between blue and white, overwhelmed by a strong sense of humiliation.
But he knew he absolutely couldn’t lose his temper now, or it would only escalate the conflict.
However, in the face of Clara’s increasingly presumptuous attitude, he could no longer bear it, clenching his teeth and shouting at her, "Clara, that’s enough! Tone it down, don’t be overly arrogant, leave yourself an out!"
Even so, his tone was still filled with restraint and suppression, clearly hesitant, not daring to speak too harshly, for fear of truly provoking the other side.
However, Clara was not appreciative, immediately putting on a stern face, a hint of harshness flickering in her eyes.
Her lips slowly pressed into a straight line, her attitude becoming increasingly rigid, "Samuel Grant, you’d better show some respect. Since our relationship is already clear, weigh your words carefully. How should you address me now? Don’t forget your position, you should call me Auntie, right?"
Her tone was cold and cutting, each word like a dagger piercing Samuel’s dignity, leaving him feeling like he was plunged into an ice cellar.
Upon hearing this, Samuel’s face turned an extreme shade of iron blue, his clenched fists trembled slightly, and his knuckles creaked.
The anger inside him burned like a smoldering fire, nearly causing him to lose control.
He struggled to suppress the urge to storm off, but realized if he really turned and left now, it would undoubtedly be an admission of weakness to Clara.
Meanwhile, he was acutely aware that if Clara went and told William Foster about this matter, his status within the family would surely face even greater threats.
After much deliberation, he could only choose to continue to endure.
Just as the tensions were rising, the atmosphere becoming increasingly stalemate, Daisy spoke again.
Her voice was loud and piercing, like a sharp blade slicing through the silent air.
"You think by latching onto his uncle, you have a noble status? I really want to ask you, Clara, what are you really? In the end, you’re just a woman delivered to the door, how much genuine gold and silver feelings are worth paying for? Stop deceiving yourself, dream on!"
Although she appeared aggressive on the surface, savoring these words carefully revealed underlying resentment and bitterness.
Clara gave Daisy a cold glance, filled with condescending contempt.
She laughed leisurely, as if she didn’t take these attacks seriously at all, "Miss Stone, I suggest you think faster, at least understand the gap between us before speaking. We’re not even on the same level. At most, you’re just a mistress——don’t you have your problems too? Without a marriage certificate, the child you bore can only be considered illegitimate, destined to never legitimately claim his identity. Whereas I’m different."
When she mentioned the key point, Clara paused slightly, then confidently squared her shoulders, her voice steady and proud.
"Today, William Foster personally sent a car, and bestowed a wedding gift worth billions as the engagement present. You’d never guess, this is a sensational big news across the entire business world. He’s now waiting patiently for me outside to register at the city hall. Haha, shall I show you?"
As she spoke, Clara gently pulled out the large ring on her right ring finger, sparkling brilliantly under the sunlight.
The gemstone was shaped like a deep-sea treasure, emitting a soft yet dazzling light.
"Look, did you see it? This is the engagement gift he prepared for me, a diamond ring set with a Conch Pearl. Heard of it? There are only a few of these in the world. Compared to some cheap show-off items, how about it? Is it worthy of my status?"
With that, she slowly extended her slender and fair wrist.
