As she spoke, she feigned shyness and lowered her head, sighing, "It’s just that your demeanor fits the character so perfectly that I got carried away and said those things. I absolutely meant no harm, oh dear, it’s just my clumsy mouth, always blurting out without thinking, no wonder I’ve never made it far. So please, don’t misunderstand a senior’s intentions!"
Seeing this, the assistant quickly jumped in to further excuse Nell Sue: "White, please don’t blame Miss Sue! She’s actually quite nice, always kind and enthusiastic, and would never intentionally offend you."
With a fawning smile, he cautiously observed Clara Bennett’s expression, "Today’s incident is surely a misunderstanding, I hope you can forgive us."
The two complemented each other seamlessly, as if rehearsed beforehand, pushing all responsibility away and making it seem as if any dissatisfaction on Clara Bennett’s part would be petty.
Nell Sue was firmly convinced that with her experience and status, she didn’t have to worry about Clara Bennett openly losing her temper.
If Clara Bennett were indeed provoked to cause trouble, it would fall right into her trap. After all, if a newcomer dares to confront a veteran, they would only earn a reputation for not respecting hierarchy.
But if Clara Bennett held back, it would mean she tacitly accepted the "evaluation," yet took an invisible loss.
The surrounding staff pretended to be busy or indifferent, appearing present but truly detached from the matter.
Everyone knew that conflicts between two female celebrities were never simple disputes, and getting involved could lead to pleasing no one.
In such a competitive environment within the entertainment circle, the wise choice is to stay away from the powder keg, lest one becomes a sacrifice in the storm.
And so, the scene fell into a brief silence, with everyone breathing more cautiously.
Clara Bennett gently blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings.
She raised a faint smile at the corner of her mouth, a smile holding a hint of confusion, mixed with a bit of playful mirth.
She slowly opened her mouth to say: "Miss Sue, I haven’t said a word, yet you seem more anxious than I am?"
Her voice was soft and calm, yet carried a subtle power that made the heart tremble slightly, "Don’t worry, I’m not angry."
She paused, her tone becoming more relaxed, "What’s the big deal if you say a few things about me? I’m just a newcomer, a small figure barely stepping through the door in the circle. It’s perfectly normal for veterans to offer me advice, isn’t it? Would I dare give them attitude?"
As she said this, the corner of her mouth curved slightly, as if joking, yet with an underlying meaning.
"Feel free to speak, tell me anything I need to learn. After all, just joining the industry, there’s a lot to learn."
Her gaze was slightly coy as she looked at the other, "My agent also reminded me to humbly accept the seniors’ teachings on set. So..."
She lightly spread her hands, appearing completely cooperative, "When a senior criticizes, I obediently listen. When a senior teaches, I make sure to remember it all, not missing a word."
Nell Sue’s eyebrows slightly furrowed upon hearing this, and her mouth twitched slightly uncontrollably.
She struggled to maintain the smile on her face, but her heart was in turmoil.
She keenly sensed that these words, which appeared sincere and humble, were actually very cunning!
This Clara Bennett was speaking with a veiled sarcasm!
What does "I listen when the senior scolds" mean?
It sounded like an obedient attitude, but wasn’t the tone clearly mocking her for using her status to oppress?
Or was she trying to remind those around about the so-called "senior’s" massive ego?
Thinking this, Nell Sue suddenly felt her position becoming somewhat passive.
If this situation wasn’t handled properly, it might harm her reputation.
So, she quickly adjusted and attempted to turn from defense to offense.
She quickly put on a flattered expression, her hands moderately clasped in front, her smile as friendly as possible, even deliberately adding some allure and intimacy.
Feigning surprise, she laughed and said: "Clara White, you’re really joking when talking about seniors, you’re flattering me too much!"
She shook her head, seemingly sincere as she continued: "Actually, among us sisters, there’s no such estrangement. I’ve always hoped that we aren’t limited to just being colleagues but that we grow closer, understand each other deeply, and ideally become true friends. If you’re willing, we should become mutually trusting and relying sisters! You wouldn’t think I’m too old-fashioned, would you?"
Facing Nell Sue’s sudden friendliness, Clara Bennett remained calm and maintained her composed demeanor.
Her lips curled slightly, showing a just-right smile, mixed with a touch of sincerity in her response: "Of course not, how could I disdain someone like Miss Sue? If we can develop a sisterly bond, it would be beneficial for both of us. Then, next time when I face you, I’ll be more at ease and won’t have to be so reserved."
This reply was impeccable.
It acknowledged Nell Sue’s attitude while expressing a willingness to deepen their interaction.
On the surface, it seemed the two were reconciling past differences.
Nell Sue breathed a sigh of relief at these words and immediately added as the iron was hot: "Yes, exactly! As everyone gets along longer, they naturally understand that honesty is crucial. Especially in our acting line, understanding each other’s style, mood, and habits makes for seamless on-camera collaboration."
At this point, she deliberately mentioned the upcoming work arrangement to reinforce the sense of connection between them, "After all, we have a lot of scenes together. Now that we’ve talked it out, we won’t have to worry about any awkwardness in future emotional or other interactive scenes. The more we’re familiar, the smoother the filming will be, don’t you think?"
Clara Bennett’s sharp intuition alerted her to some hidden agendas in Nell Sue’s sudden friendliness.
However, at this moment, she still acted very straightforwardly and composed, showing no sign of defense.
Just as Nell Sue thought she had the situation under control, quietly planning how to handle this newcomer who didn’t know their place, Clara Bennett seemed to have an epiphany, a hint of excitement sparking in her eyes.
She proactively changed the topic, with a face full of enthusiasm, "Since we’re talking about becoming sisters, then I can completely relax. I’ve always had a concern about overstepping boundaries and causing trouble."
