"Shut up! You’re really shameless! Tell me, what kind of relationship do you have with my sister? I’m warning you right now, take all that nonsense you brought with you and leave immediately, or don’t blame us for being rude! Stop harassing my sister!"
William Foster, who was originally confident and ready to face the challenge, was immediately taken aback upon hearing these words. The smile that had been on his lips gradually disappeared, replaced by a look of disbelief and confusion.
"Mr. James Bennett, do we have some kind of misunderstanding here?"
James Bennett had somehow gotten a gardener’s hoe, raised high in a manner completely unlike his usual cultured self, looking like he was ready to fight William Foster to the death.
The hoe glistened in the sunlight with a metallic sheen, looking exceptionally heavy, but James Bennett held it firmly, clearly prepared to give it his all.
"Bro, stop wasting words on him, let me kick him out!"
Charles Bennett, unable to hold back, spoke up, his tone filled with urgency and anxiety, as if the scene was unbearable for him.
His eyes were fixed closely on William Foster, as if fearing any sudden movements from him.
Clara Bennett’s head was pounding, feeling like the scene before her was about to spiral completely out of control.
She had to take a deep breath and step forward to interject, "Enough, everyone calm down. This matter can’t be explained in just a few words. Let’s first move the gifts inside, otherwise, the crowd will only grow larger. Then we can sit down inside and have a good talk."
Her voice carried weariness and helplessness, evidently overwhelmed by the sudden situation.
Though in a high-end villa area, the commotion William Foster caused was too conspicuous.
Seeing the atmosphere around tensed to the breaking point, he decided to appear as if he would listen to Clara, with a slight smile, he responded, "Alright, let’s do everything according to Clara’s wishes."
Although his voice sounded gentle and compliant, it gave off an indescribable confidence.
Charles Bennett grew anxious and couldn’t help but say to his sister, "Clara, are you really letting him in?"
His eyes were filled with confusion and doubt, as if unable to comprehend why Clara would make such a decision.
His heart was full of vigilance and suspicion towards William Foster, fearing that this unexpected visitor might bring trouble to the family.
Clara helplessly said, "What else can we do, surely we can’t move the table to the street to chat?"
As she spoke, her eyebrows slightly knitted, revealing a hint of resignation, as if it wasn’t her choice but a forced compromise.
Charles didn’t say anything more, but gave William Foster a fierce glare, his eyes full of hostility.
However, William Foster remained gracious, with no reaction at all, as if completely unaware of the invisible pressure.
Charles couldn’t help but feel an irritation towards him, this guy really knew how to put on airs, acting calm and composed.
To him, the arrogance behind this composure was unbearable but outwardly couldn’t directly show.
William Foster seemed indifferent about the current situation, but Zam secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The tense atmosphere just now almost made him think the situation would take a turn for the worst.
Being driven away when coming to propose marriage, such a thing was considered shameful in old-fashioned thinking.
Now that this wave has peacefully passed, he couldn’t help but feel grateful.
Eventually, they got through this storm safely, and everyone finally entered the villa.
The group walked into the living room where the atmosphere remained somewhat subtle, with an unresolved knot lingering in the air.
Charles asked someone to move the gifts to the back of the villa, and after everything was settled, he returned to the living room.
William Foster sat steadfastly in his wheelchair, gazing gently at Clara, and patted the single sofa next to him, smiling as he said, "Clara, come sit here."
Clara: "..."
Faced with William Foster’s enthusiastic invitation, she could only remain silent, a mix of emotions churning inside.
Did William Foster truly not understand the current situation?
Wasn’t that place somewhere anyone could just casually sit?
Evidently, in such a setting, any inappropriate behavior would draw attention and gossip.
Moreover, he was seated in such a conspicuous position.
Just in time, when Charles returned from outside and heard those words, he raised an eyebrow slightly, his tone carrying an obvious challenge.
"Since you said that, why don’t I go sit there instead? If you think it’s appropriate, I can move there right away."
William Foster responded calmly, his voice steady without a hint of fluctuation, "No need to trouble yourself; I just wanted to be a bit closer here, with no intention of offending."
Having reached the end of his patience, the always composed Edward Bennett finally exploded, "Doesn’t anyone in the Foster family understand the rules? First, there was that Samuel Grant already causing enough headaches, and now there’s this guy showing up?"
His tone was full of anger and dissatisfaction.
In the face of such sharp questioning, William Foster still maintained his usual composed demeanor.
"Actually, Samuel Grant is just a branch of the Foster family, not really worth counting; he and I are different."
"What’s different? To us, you’re all of the same ilk!"
Charles sneered, unabashed in his dislike for this man.
Watching the minor conflict arising from his presence, Clara felt very uneasy.
Even if all this happened due to her not informing her family in advance, leading to a misunderstanding, seeing William Foster being criticized like this still made her feel troubled.
After a moment of inner struggle, Clara finally decided to stand up.
After taking a few deep breaths, she mustered the courage to walk towards William Foster.
William Foster was noticeably surprised, perhaps not expecting her to choose to do this.
But in just a moment, he resumed his expressionless state.
Originally thinking she might choose to avoid the problem, the reality was quite the opposite.
This not only surprised the three Bennett brothers but also drew the attention of everyone present.
"Clara, what are you doing now?"
James Bennett asked, his voice full of puzzled and unclear emotions.
When Clara held William Foster’s hand, the young man, known for his consistent calmness, felt an unprecedented warmth passing through their palms.
"Brothers, please listen to me; in fact, I’ve already thought this through a long time ago."
She turned towards her three brothers, "I’d like to discuss my future plans... I plan to marry William Foster in the future."
The warmth between their palms seemed to melt all the previous coldness, and in an instant, all the anger dissipated, replaced by indescribable tenderness and warmth.
Although the original intent was indeed to bring the betrothal gifts in this opportunity, he sincerely wanted to marry her.
