"I’ve told you not to say things like that. Why don’t you listen?"
Mr. William Foster, who has always been domineering, was startled by this sudden reprimand, but instead, a sweet feeling surged in his heart.
This girl’s words surprised him and made him feel warm.
He reached out again, and the warm sunlight just happened to fall upon the back of his hand, adding a touch of warmth to the moment.
Although he hasn’t met Clara Bennett many times, he firmly believes that as long as he reaches out, she will definitely accept him.
Sure enough, Clara Bennett reached out and held his hand, and William Foster held her hand tightly with his other hand, his tone becoming much softer.
"I’m not belittling myself; I’m just worried that this might affect you, and people will talk about you a lot."
Clara Bennett dismissively said, "I don’t care about the gossip; I just don’t want fans to misunderstand me because of it. If I become famous someday, there will always be people digging for the truth, and that’s not good for you either. I’d rather focus on acting than pay attention to boring gossip. But I also want your presence to be known."
Having once broken her legs and experienced death, she deeply understood the importance of protection and support.
The past humiliation, mockery, and disdain had become a norm in her life, honing a resilient heart.
Because she had been through the storm, she hoped even more to hold up an umbrella for William Foster, sheltering him from the wind and rain.
William Foster might not realize that he unconsciously tends to mention harsh words like "trash."
Clara Bennett believed that, from a psychological perspective, it was a form of self-denial.
It must be that in his past life, he was constantly labeled like this by those around him, leading him to unconsciously showcase this kind of inferiority, always inadvertently bringing out these negative words when talking about himself.
Clara Bennett felt deeply empathetic towards William Foster.
This emotion isn’t born from love, but merely from sympathy.
Because of this, she decided to treat him with respect.
Upon hearing Clara Bennett’s words, William Foster felt a slight emotion stirring in his heart.
The emotional slump that had trapped him seemed to vanish in an instant.
He gently asked, "Darling, why are you being so good to me?"
Clara Bennett smiled slightly and said, "We’re about to get married. If I’m not good to you, then who am I supposed to be good to? Besides, this isn’t anything special. I promised to protect you. If anyone bullies you in the future, tell me immediately and let me show you how capable I am."
After hearing this, William Foster felt particularly delighted, but at the same time, an imperceptible unease brewed inside him.
He knew that this moment of warmth and harmony between the two of them was rare and precious, and perhaps they wouldn’t have another chance to experience such a feeling in the future.
Yet, even knowing that this behavior wasn’t right, he couldn’t suppress the impulse within his heart.
"Well, there are indeed a few people... bullying me."
William Foster began to feign a pitiful look.
Clara Bennett didn’t doubt his words, but rather knitted her eyebrows and inquired, "Who are these people?"
"It’s my uncles,"
William Foster replied, "They’re forcing me to marry a woman I don’t love at all, hoping to have a child with her. Their plan is that once I have an heir to inherit the family’s assets, they can use this child to threaten and force me into submission."
Upon hearing this, Clara Bennett couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Are these people’s heads messed up? It’s one thing to treat you poorly usually, but to intrude into even your marriage?"
At this moment, she couldn’t help but think of Samuel Grant, who had previously tried to control her in every way, finding that there wasn’t much difference between the methods used.
These uncles are indeed excessive, truly angering people.
William Foster drew Clara Bennett closer, wrapping her tightly in his embrace with his long arms, softly comforting her, "Honey, don’t be angry. Let’s discuss our wedding first. In a few days, the elders from the family will come for a visit. Can you accompany me to meet them and help fend off their pressure?"
Clara Bennett responded without hesitation, "Don’t worry, as long as I’m around, I dare them to try anything with you. I’ll protect you, so don’t worry."
William Foster smiled and responded, "With you here, what do I have to fear? Your courage and determination make me feel much more at ease."
Looking at William Foster’s hair shining golden under the sunlight, Clara Bennett couldn’t help but reach out again to comb through those soft strands.
This feeling is truly wonderful, like petting a beloved little animal, bringing a sense of comfort and tranquility.
At the end of the corridor upstairs by the window, the Bennett family’s three brothers witnessed this scene, all stunned, involuntarily stepping back a bit, not daring to make a sound.
James Bennett exclaimed in surprise, "Am I seeing things? How can these two be so intimate?"
Edward Bennett hesitated for a moment and then replied, "Probably not wrong, I’m not seeing things. Their behavior is really unusual."
Charles Bennett anxiously said, "What should we do? I’m feeling very uneasy. Remember the time when Clara and Samuel Grant were together..."
Edward Bennett firmly shook his head and said, "I’ve never seen her so close to anyone, not even Samuel Grant."
James Bennett reminisced and commented, "The first time I saw Samuel Grant and Clara together, I felt Clara didn’t like him. I always thought she chose to be with Samuel Grant out of rebellion."
Charles Bennett questioned, "So what now? What do you think?"
James Bennett sighed and said, "Honestly, I really can’t stand it. Her physical contact with William Foster is too frequent; they’re almost inseparable. It’s hard to accept. One of you should remind her to restrain herself a little. Does she really only care about looks?"
Indeed, Samuel Grant’s looks can only be considered handsome.
What does handsome mean?
It means a decent, standard appearance, looking pretty charming but definitely not top-tier handsome.
Samuel Grant might have some attractiveness but can’t compare to William Foster.
William Foster is different; he’s genuinely stunning.
Stunning to what extent?
To the extent that he’s so rarely good-looking, you’re deeply captivated at first glance, and as soon as you think of "handsome guy," his image immediately comes to mind.
This charm practically grabs everyone’s attention instantly.
Moreover, William Foster’s aura is quite special, seemingly exuding an innate nobility and undeniable presence.
Whether it’s his walking posture or the subtle emotional changes revealed in simple movements, one can feel this unique charm.
