Speaking of this, she looked down at the script in her hand and her tone became slightly serious, "Do you know? There’s actually a scene in here that really worries me. Specifically, it’s a physical action scene: my character needs to slap your face."
She paused at this point, raised her eyes to look at Nell Sue, her gaze was clear and forthright, yet carried a hint of probing.
"It’s quite difficult for me to grasp. On one hand, because I’ve just entered the acting industry and don’t have much experience, so I have to try my best to make the emotional outburst realistic enough. On the other hand, such intense scenes inevitably involve real physical contact, and if not done properly, it can easily lead to misunderstanding or embarrassment... To ensure the quality of the performance and audience resonance, I might have to use some force."
Finally, she smiled deliberately and added, "If it hurts or bothers you at that time, remember to tell me, but please don’t blame me."
These words once again made the atmosphere subtle, seemingly full of goodwill, but like a fine needle striking a nerve, making it impossible for Nell Sue to simply brush it off as a joke.
After a pause, she slightly lowered her eyelids, seemingly choosing her words, then spoke softly, her tone sounding casual yet carrying an air of insistence: "Why don’t we have lunch together after the costume fitting? We can also rehearse that scene in advance in the afternoon."
Her voice was gentle and calm, yet inexplicably made one feel a bit pressured.
Nell Sue was momentarily at a loss for words, her lips parted but no sound came out.
At this moment, her heart felt as if it were blocked by a stone, uncomfortable.
That character in the drama is a completely miserable person, almost no good ending, either gets slapped or pinned down on the ground by the neck.
Thinking of this, and then thinking of the state she might face, her chest felt congested instantly, making her feel suffocated.
Actually, Nell Sue’s initial intention was just to gain some verbal advantage, she never intended to really tear faces with Clara Bennett or compete.
Who would willingly get involved in such open and covert struggles?
Besides, the action scenes in that drama were too hard to endure, getting hurt at the slightest, even suffering minor injuries, just imagining these scenes a little was enough to evoke aversion.
Thinking of the words ’getting hit’, her face darkened a bit more, quickly finding a dignified reason to tactfully decline: "Let’s leave it for today, I have other work arrangements in the afternoon, need to rush for an announcement, time is quite tight."
Upon hearing this, Clara Bennett immediately put on an expression filled with regret, her shoulders slumped slightly, as if she was genuinely feeling disappointed by the rejection.
She then let out a long sigh and said, "Oh, I see... that’s a pity."
However, after a brief pause, her tone suddenly turned sour.
"But I really envy you, truly, you see you’re always so busy, running around accepting announcements, recording programs, you look really dazzling! Unlike me, just entering the industry, everything is in the initial stages, can’t even name a few people I know. The only drama where I’m the lead as a newcomer, always feels a bit unsure, let alone participating in big events, basically no resources or circle support."
"Hmm, indeed."
Clara Bennett mumbled a response, but the underlying meaning clearly mocked Nell Sue.
The subtext was obvious.
Sister, you’ve been in this circle for years and remain a side role, but I, just a newcomer, already enjoy the aura of a lead with top-tier support!
Such words appeared casual, but actually pierced the softest part of one’s heart like a fine needle.
For others, Clara Bennett might not bother to say such slightly stimulating words, but she knew very well that using this method was particularly effective against Nell Sue.
After all, this woman had put a lot of effort, even resorting to not-so-dignified means, barely getting the chance to be part of this drama, yet still missed the lead role.
And now, these words were undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire, pushing things toward a more sensitive direction.
As expected, Nell Sue’s face instantly turned black, her brows furrowed, a hint of undisguised anger appearing in her gaze.
But she ultimately forced herself to suppress her emotions, squeezed out an extremely stiff smile to brush it off, then quickly turned her head to her assistant, deliberately bringing up another completely unrelated topic to divert attention.
"Hey, I just remembered, don’t we have to go find the photographer we worked with last time to discuss the new cover design afterward? Let’s quickly communicate the schedule."
At this moment, Nell Sue could no longer bear to continue facing this smiling face, for fear that she might accidentally lose her temper and slap the other person.
In her heart, she cursed, "This damned girl! Pretending to be an innocent angel!"
Meanwhile, she clenched her fists and silently vowed, one day, she would surely step on her and teach her a lesson!
And as Clara Bennett stood there, a cold and satisfied smile quietly curled up in her heart.
All this outward maneuvering was all in vain, the so-called tactics were simply childish and ridiculous to her.
Did they really think such trivial tricks could challenge my limits?
They truly overestimated themselves!
Nell Sue was at most a beginner in green tea tactics, in terms of scheming, she wasn’t necessarily better than Clara Bennett.
Though she was good at using appearance and little cleverness to gain others’ favor, those tricks were merely flowery punches in Clara Bennett’s eyes, far from enough to deal with those more shrewd individuals.
After choosing the final accessory, Clara Bennett’s styling was almost complete.
Standing in front of the mirror, she carefully examined her attire, ensuring every detail was as perfect as possible.
She knew that in such occasions, any negligence could lead to failure.
It was just then that the second female lead finally arrived...
A young woman in a light pink long dress, her hair half tied up, walked elegantly into the makeup room with a smile that carried an undeniable aura.
The second female lead, Yvonne Young, arrived and greeted both Clara Bennett and Nell Sue, then sized up Clara Bennett from top to bottom.
"Are you a newcomer? Which company are you with?"
Her tone seemed casual but was actually filled with an exploratory taste, as if she were seeking some information to assess the other’s value.
Clara Bennett replied crisply, "I’m with Kai Entertainment."
Her words were neither humble nor arrogant, instead, giving off a sincere yet composed feeling, as if she were comfortably interacting with an old friend.
