Chapter 16: A Woman Who Changes Her Mind?

Clara Bennett was momentarily stunned: "What do you mean by that?" Samuel Grant took a deep breath, sat on the chair beside her, and wore a faint, ambiguous smile: "Don’t you feel dizzy?" Clara suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, gritting her teeth as she asked, "Did you drug the air? How is this happening? I haven’t touched anything!" Samuel replied, "Of course, because the drug disperses in the air. To make the plan work, I also went tough on myself and got poisoned too." Clara understood: "So it was the incense... Samuel Grant, you really are a sly villain!" She struggled to stand by supporting herself on the table, but her legs gave out, and she sank back into the chair. Shortly after, Samuel also collapsed. When Daisy Stone entered, she found both of them unconscious. She immediately covered her nose with a handkerchief, doused the burning incense with water, and then used an antidote to revive Samuel. Daniel Wright, who had been out dining with his girlfriend, happened to witness this scene as he got out of the car. His professional instinct made him immediately alert; he quickly got rid of his friends and drove off in pursuit, calling William Foster to report the situation. After hearing the description, William’s expression darkened: "Tell me your current location." Daniel replied, "They just left the restaurant." William coldly instructed, "Keep close, and tell me the route when you arrive." He then set out with his subordinates, not forgetting to order, "Remember to bring the wheelchair." Meanwhile, Daniel had followed them to the entrance of a hotel. Seeing the pair get out of the car and embrace, his heart nearly leaped out of his chest. He never imagined he would personally witness the Young Madam sneaking around with another man! They entered the hotel one after the other, and Clara deliberately used a scarf to cover her face. Does this woman have no sense of shame? Enraged, he picked up the phone and called William. When William answered, his expression was grim. Daniel had tracked them to a high-end hotel. William’s voice was full of anger: "Speak!" Daniel took a deep breath and cautiously said, "Boss Foster, I saw the Young Madam and Samuel embracing as they got out of the car and then entered a ho—" With a thud, William’s final words were directed at Arthur Davis. He asked, "Did you bring a gun?" Hearing this, Daniel realized that the situation tonight might not be so simple, possibly leaving both individuals in misfortune. Before Daniel could think further, his phone suddenly vibrated. The message was from Arthur, asking him to find out Samuel’s hotel room number. Daniel clicked his tongue, glanced at the two who had already entered the hotel, found a spot, and hacked into the hotel’s system, quickly finding the room number and sending it to Arthur. In the car, Arthur looked at his phone and said, "Boss Foster, room 101." William’s expression grew even grimmer, but he remained silent. Arthur knew William was very angry yet naïvely said, "Boss Foster, I don’t think the Young Madam would do such a thing." William glared at him fiercely, "How do you know?" Arthur blankly answered, "Just a gut feeling." William clenched his fist: "But she was indeed Samuel’s girlfriend before." Arthur continued to argue, "But Samuel is too sleazy, and the Young Madam has said she looks down on him." William closed his mouth, suppressing the anger in his heart. Could Clara really be such a fickle woman? Is it possible she could switch from me to Samuel right after we had a relationship? If she were like that, how could she have left such a lasting impression on me? Having spent so many years navigating a world full of deceit and betrayal, William had long been accustomed to such schemes. Logically, he should handle Clara’s matter with cold determination. Why let it anger him? If Clara truly trampled him underfoot, he would drag the Bennett family and Clara to hell together. However—at this moment, the always skeptical William was struck by a glimmer of hope. That hope was an inexplicable yearning, a desire to believe in someone. Daisy Stone spent the night busy playing her part. Samuel orchestrated the entire plan with great ingenuity. Samuel made Clara use a camera to film the so-called process of "she" getting engaged to Samuel and going to the room, followed by intimate scenes in the room, all for William to see. Samuel knew that by doing this, he was courting death, but he decided to risk it all. He planned to announce the marriage news high-profile after tonight’s escapade, forcing William to accept the facts. As long as Clara’s reputation was ruined, she and William would be over. Whether or not he could marry Clara was secondary; what mattered was preventing her from being with William. For Clara, she certainly wouldn’t obey easily, so he had to stage a scenario of being caught in the act. Samuel went downstairs again, got back into the car, and took Clara to the hotel room, placing her on the large bed inside. The room was quiet, and Samuel looked down at Clara lying motionless on the bed. It was then that he noticed how truly beautiful Clara was, her features delicate and stunning, lying there like a flower waiting to be picked. Previously, the clothes Clara wore didn’t highlight her figure, but now her clothes revealed her figure perfectly. Samuel had never expected her figure to be so good. Samuel’s eyes darkened, Adam’s apple slightly moving: "What’s so captivating about you, girl, that my uncle is so obsessed?" As he got closer, he caught a faint fragrance from Clara, causing his breathing to deepen as his Adam’s apple bobbed a few times. This woman was originally meant to be his, meant to be his woman. William calls him a thief, but in truth, William is the real thief. Using his status as the head of the Foster family, he made him kneel like a dog before him. What logic is that!
