Chapter 58- game over

Chapter 58: Chapter 58- game over Seeing the storm brewing on Morrison’s face, Lilian immediately covered her mouth and wisely chose silence, obediently waiting for Sean to arrive. When Sean finally came down and saw her car practically making out with the concrete barrier, he didn’t hold back—he burst out laughing. "Ah, classic woman driver!" Lilian was fuming. That was a blatant, bare-faced insult to all female drivers! With a furious glare, she shoved her car keys into Sean’s hand, spun around, and stormed off toward Morrison’s car, hopping in without another word. Morrison dropped her off at the tax office while he stayed outside to wait. Lilian secretly prayed for some urgent work call to come in and whisk him away. But no—his phone didn’t ring once the entire time. When she was finally done and got back in the car, she noticed they weren’t heading back toward the company. "This isn’t the way back, is it?" she asked. "Nope," Morrison replied. "We’re going to the hospital. Gotta get you checked." "What for? I’m fine. I’m not hurt!" Morrison gave her a long, side-eyed look. "Then why’ve you been rubbing your chest the entire time?" From the moment she got out of the car to now, she’d clutched or rubbed her chest at least seven or eight times. "If you’re fine, what’s with all the massaging?" Also—did she not realize how... visually intense it was to see her doing that in front of a man? Lilian’s hands flew protectively to her chest the moment she heard that. "I—" She’d rubbed it instinctively out of discomfort, but always quickly stopped when she realized how inappropriate it looked. She didn’t think he’d notice. What a perv! Morrison watched her go into full defensive mode and decided to tease her. "Want me to take a look instead? It’s not like I haven’t seen it before." Indeed, back when they were still together... things had gotten a little heated. A few times. He had seen—and touched—a little more than he probably should’ve. Lilian’s face turned beet red in an instant. "Get lost!" she barked, all shame and fury. She didn’t care if he was the CEO or the Emperor—right now, he was nothing but a shameless scoundrel. Morrison burst into carefree, unrestrained laughter. It felt good. To have someone who made him laugh without pretense, someone who let him be himself without all the masks he had to wear in the ruthless business world—someone who brought him joy. Yes, it felt really good. In the end, Lilian did get dragged to the hospital. Morrison found a female doctor, of course. He followed her right into the exam room, and though Lilian insisted he stay out, he shamelessly ignored her protests. Luckily, the female doctor took Lilian behind a privacy curtain for the actual exam. As Lilian unbuttoned her shirt, she saw clear bruises blossoming on both sides of her chest. When the doctor prodded a few spots gently, Lilian cried out in pain, loud enough for Morrison outside to frown deeply—nearly pulling back the curtain himself to check on her. Once the exam was over, the doctor glanced at Lilian, who was still wincing, and couldn’t help chuckling... "The thing about us women," the female doctor said as she helped Lilian redress, "is that while this area looks soft and bouncy, it actually hurts like hell when injured. It’s just like a man’s... you know. One hit and it’s game over." Lilian burst out laughing. "Pfft—!" Outside the curtain, Morrison, who caught every word, felt his face tighten. That doctor was way too blunt. When the check-up was done, the doctor sat behind her desk and looked at Lilian. "You’re fine. Nothing serious—just a bit of bruising. I’ll prescribe a topical ointment for the swelling." Then she turned toward Morrison, assuming he was the boyfriend. "Of course," she added with a pointed smile, "you’ll have to avoid any... intimate contact with that area for a while. Give her time to heal." Lilian nearly passed out on the spot. What is even happening right now?! She opened her mouth to explain they weren’t a couple—not even close! But before she could get a word out, Morrison had already stepped forward, casually reached out, and took her hand in his. Smiling at the doctor, he nodded seriously. "Thank you for the advice, doctor. I’ll be careful." "You—!" Lilian spluttered in protest, trying to pull her hand away. But Morrison was already walking off with her in tow, prescription in hand and a calm, composed expression on his face. At this point, Lilian felt like no matter what she said, it would just make things worse. There’s no way to explain this now. Absolutely none. The moment they stepped out of the consultation room, Lilian angrily shook off Morrison’s hand. "Can you please stop saying random crap in front of other people?" she snapped. "You already have Monna—girlfriends one after another—so why are you still acting all flirty with me?" Just thinking about how he’d hinted to the doctor that they were in that kind of relationship made her blood boil. Before he could respond, she grabbed the prescription slip from his hand and turned to head toward the pharmacy on her own. Morrison kept pace beside her, trying to explain, "Monna’s not my girlfriend." Lilian froze mid-step and looked at him in disbelief. "What do you mean she’s not?" She’d seen him hug Monna with her own eyes. That kind of closeness didn’t just happen between strangers. Morrison gave a small, cryptic smile. "We’re not involved. That’s all I’ll say. Don’t overthink it." The vagueness of it only irritated Lilian more. Not involved? Then why hug her like that? Why act like a couple? With a sharp tone, she shot back, "I’m not overthinking anything. I’m just going by what I saw." Then she stormed off with the prescription, her footsteps practically stamping down the hallway. Morrison sighed and followed silently behind. He knew he was partly to blame. That night, he had used Monna to provoke her. But ever since things started changing between him and Lilian... he couldn’t keep playing games. They picked up the medicine, and Lilian rode back to MOS Corp. in his car, both going their separate ways for work. Before she left, Morrison offered, "I’ll drive you home tonight. Sean’s still fixing your car." Lilian didn’t even pause to consider. "No thanks. I’ll just grab a cab." Morrison didn’t argue. Fine. I’ll wait downstairs for you anyway, he thought. But when the end of the day came and he parked at the front entrance, just about to call her, he saw her walk out of the building with her bag— and head straight for a white Volkswagen parked nearby. From his angle, he could see a young man in the driver’s seat. Definitely not Dave. Not someone from the company. Even Laurent’s car was more expensive than that one. And just like that, Morrison’s temper flared. What the hell is going on? Why was she getting into another man’s car? He fired up the engine and followed, calling her as he did. As soon as she picked up, he barked into the phone, "Whose car did you just get into?" Lilian, caught off guard by his hostile tone, bristled immediately. "What the hell does it matter to you?" she snapped. "Why do you always have to stick your nose in my business?"
